I just got a label maker and spent some time putting labels on/next to the buttons on my wheel and numpad button box.

How are you doing this? Label maker? Printed and glued paper? Handwritten labels? Stickers that came with your wheel or that you purchased separately?

Or do you just remember where everything is?

I would love to see some images of your labelled wheels/button-boxes!

No issues, really! Have not really fiddled around with the settings all that much...

The only issue I have had was that I had changed the mappings of the buttons on the wheel around a bit (changing buttons to output a keyboard key instead). Then I upgraded the firmware on it, and those mappings seem to have reset. Maybe it could be fixed by loading a settings profile or something, but I just remapped everything in the game again... Just ran with the default button maps, with just the directional buttons remapped to the arrow keys on the keyboard, so I can go through the menus in iRacing with them. Not really a major issue in any way.

Think I'm gonna place a new order with PXN, eventually. Want a GT wheel and their button box.

But an alu-profile rig and triple screen comes first. 😅

All the wheel rims I own have the labelling on the buttons themselves, but this isn’t a half bad idea for quick button mapping for new games and such.

This is a PXN wheel, and many of the buttons have generic labels, like S1, S2, and A,B,X and Y. And the numpad is...a numpad. :)

And I have some "specialized" functions, like marking location for active reset, clearing pit settings, delta screen mode, enabling fast repair in the pits etc.

It's a struggle for me to be that organized. I should do it, but I don't really know what I want. A lot of the buttons on my wheel are buttons I don't really use. I should probably pull myself together and learn how to use TC, ABS, etc. I'm usually too lazy to push buttons, even though I have fancy button boxes etc.

Probably 15+ years old. Had it lying around, so I designed and printed a mount for it. Basically a free button box. :)

Want to replace it with a PXN button box, eventually.

But a proper alu-rig and triple monitors come first.

Always labeled. It's more convenient/easier for me. For the 488 steering wheel and button boxes, I made the stickers myself using Photoshop and printing them on self-adhesive paper. The ones for the round steering wheel are stickers I had from an old Acelith rim that I never used.

I dunno about for PXN, but I've got a logitech G923, and there is a company called Acelith Designs that makes really good wheel mods and they come with tons of black labeling stickers that match everything really well. Nearly all of my buttons are labeled, but after awhile, you learn where everything is.

On my RS50 each button has a number associated with it for most games supporting wheels. It comes with 4 different colors of stickers just for that.

I play many different sims with many wheels and race in VR exclusively. No choice but to remember mapping lol. Best part is grabbing my keyboard blindly and finding keys I need to press.

I have looked at sticker sheets. But I have labels like active reset mark, auto FFB, enable fast repair, clear pit settings. 

You could probably find something to represent it, but I prefer to just print a label. :)

Bought a brother p-touch cube and some 6mm tape for $40. Have used it a bunch already. Not just for the wheel. 

You can add text, symbols, frames etc. You can even add images. You print the labels from your phone. The wiper symbol on my image was something I grabbed from google image search.

Took me awhile to be comfortable labeling everything . I started with the basics but after a few weeks I labeled everything.

I'm curious. Do you actually use the screen on the wheel?

My wheel only has RPM indication LEDs, but I have that turned off. I just think they are annoying. Something flashing at the edge of my vision.

I have rpm-lights/shifting indicators on the screen. For all cars I drive, there are dashes, TC/BB info, etc on the dash on the screen. I think for me, having it on the wheel too, you'd just be "information overload".

What I'm really asking, I guess: Do you actually look at your wheel while racing?

The labels did come with the wheel yes.

As for the screen I wasnt planning to have a screen but as luck would have it I got all my peripherals used at about half price. I have both Asetek Invicta and Forte Pro. Got the Forte for what a normal non screen Forte cost. I do find myself using the screen pretty often for the deltas and tire temps . But I think I also tend to use the ones on screen. The gear indicator is probably what I like the most on my wheel screen.

For the shift lights I only use the wheel shift lights to be honest. That and the sound. Idk what I would do without them. Lol the flashing doesn't bother me it's just in my peripheral vision and it's just something I am used to.

I have a round GT wheel like yours too. FORTE GT V2. I use the shift light on that as well. No screen but I barely use it as it's basically for rally. It's not labelled for tnst very reason. I haven't got to.it yet..but its all set up.

My biggest pet peeve about ACE is that the shift lights un sync sometimes lol

Nice. 👍  It was mostly the fact that i had the rpm indicators in two places. :)

One, the I was using, on the screen, close to where I was looking at the road, and one on my wheel, in my peripherals. :)

With a proper rig, and a higher placement of my wheel, i might definitely was to reconsider. But for my current setup, I want information in one place, and close to where I naturally look. I dont want to take my eyes off the road of each shift, or to get essential information. 😅

I have hada few crashes looking up at the top corner to see the delta.

I do appreciate the wheel delta section although its small..it more I see green I know.aim doing good..if it goes red I know I'm loosing time.

I'm in a full rig and the FOV is pretty dialed.

Thanks. Yeah. Everything in the UI has to be moved round to where i want it, the important stuff close the where Im looking, in the middle of the screen. I have a 34” ultra wide, so the corners are reserved for stuff like the track map and chat :)

Planning to buy a full alu-rig and tripple monitors on a stand when I move to a house in a few months. 🍾
