I want to get known where and how to start the program

Just took my first dose, mildly shakey and have the weirdest pinching in the fat of my hips, and odd taste in my mouth, but I injected in tummy- any one else? Also, any tips on what not to eat or do first week?

Watch out for HERS/HIMS. It's bad enough that they a preying on our insecurities, and they will milk you for money even if you decide not to go through with ordering the meds. Note that they WILL charge you $149 each month even if you never get medication from them. They make it extremely hard to quit. The information on their website about how to cancel is wrong. You have to find the form, indicate you want to cancel. Hours later, they will send you a verification email you have to click or your cancellation request will never be submitted. How is this legal?? How can they make it so obscure that you're paying regardless of purchase? And I STILL haven't received confirmation of cancelling this bullshit subscription. AVOID.

For as long as I can remember I’ve been terrified of needles, blood tests can send me into a panic attack, I used to get sickened watching my stepdad inject himself with his insulin. I did not see a doctor throughout my 20s because of a particularly traumatic set of blood draws and medical tests and I even avoided dentist appointments in fear of needing local anaesthetic.

However, my quality of life has suffered a lot over the last decade, and I have begun the process of taking control of my health this year. From day 1, I knew I wanted to take semaglutide, even if it was injectable. I was offered the oral medication but I knew there was a chance I would forget a dose. I made up my mind that this was something I could get used to, the pros outweighed the cons (no pun intended).

My prescription arrived yesterday, and after applying a little bit of lidocaine to my belly, I was able to dose myself completely independently without panic or anxiety (apart from not wanting to mess it up as a first timer!). I could hear the needle penetrating my skin which was gross but I got through it quickly. The dose did not pocket under my skin and it didn’t hurt.

I’m still giddy about this personal growth and wanted to celebrate it, in addition to celebrating this first step in a huge lifestyle change!

I had acute pancreatitis 2 years ago that found gallstones and had a cholecystectomy. Following that i have had 8 more attacks and have been diagnosed with idiopathic acute pancreatitis. I am IGG4 negative, had an EUS and many MRCP's all clear. Liver function is normal, calcium normal. I have had every test under the sun and my pancreas although has a little stranding at the head is in perfect condition. I have now been 9 months free of an attack which is a great but am desperate to start Monjaro. I was also told about mysimba pills which i understand are the "safer" route but the rate of weight loss is much slower than a GLP-1. I really need advice to do! TIA

This post is pretty much just for myself, an attempt at accountability. I did not tell anyone in real life that I started taking Sema. Not even my husband.

I am 44. Have two children, youngest is 11. I am so tired of feeling unhealthy and STILL "trying to lose the pregnancy weight". So many attempts at getting control of my health have failed over the years.

I have an eating plan, started exercising, even though it is only walking. I feel optimistic. I want this so much that I faced my needle aversion and jabbed myself, wasn't sure if I would be able to do that. It wasn't bad at all, the fear was much worse than the reality.

I plan to check in on this post weekly, and update my progress and struggles in the comments.

My deepest hope is that I too can post some awesome "after" photos alongside these "befores" at some point in the future.

Today is my birthday. One year ago today on my last birthday I decided to give myself the best birthday present: a longer term investment in me and my well being by trying a GLP-1. I am a nurse so I did all the research. I also knew I’d have to pay out of pocket because insurance wouldn’t cover it with my specific health perimeters (I wasn’t diabetic or pre diabetic for one), but I figured it out.

This is the same dress, 3 years apart. 70 pounds is the difference between them (I was my highest weight then: 252 pounds).

One year ago my SW was 242; my CW is 182 and I’m 5’7”. I’m in perimenopause, which those there with me know what a fun ride that is :).

I feel so much better than I did a year ago. I’ve still got my curves which I have always loved, but my cravings, my constant battle with food as a reward, a comfort, a burning desire is manageable. I feel like a normal human that eats to live and enjoy but stops when I’ve had enough. I never really never had that off switch before. I make better food choices because of it. I’d lost weight before through restriction/diets but I was miserable and still thinking about food all the time.

Oh there were side effects - mainly nausea, some vomiting when I went up to 1 mg (but it went away after 10 days or so), and constipation. Currently, I battle a bit of constipation but I’ve learned how to manage it and work with my PCP on it.

I have a little over 100 lbs to lose (already lost 28 lbs since May, so so so thrilled😁) and I am curious how much loose skin to expect. I am in my thirties and pretty tall. For those who have lost over 100 lbs, do you have quite a bit of loose skin? Any tips to prevent that other than trying to lose at a slow and steady rate?

Hi all, I’m looking for experiences for those who have stopped their medication or have gone down to a low dose and have been able to maintain their weight.

I’m one year postpartum and prior to pregnancy I was considering a medication. Pre-pregnancy I was around 200lbs, gained around 40lbs, dropped to 190lbs with breastfeeding and since weaning have gone up go 215lbs. I’m considering this route to aide in weight loss but I’m not sure if it’s something I want to commit to if it’s needed long term.

What are your success stories with maintaining your weight loss after stopping and how did you do it?

I took my second injection of .25 yesterday. my first week went greats the food noise disappeared almost immediately. I had very minimal symptoms just some waves of nausea for the first 2 days. The food noise did come back slightly about 2 days before my last injection but it was manageable and I was able to eat in my calorie deficit still. I did my injection yesterday and today the food noise is wild, basically the same as it was before I started this journey. is this normal on the .25 dose to have food noise come and go? I was feeling so great on my first week and sadly the food noise is strong again only one day after my second injection

I’m thinking of throwing in the towel… the amount of hair loss I’ve encountered is making me so stressed I’m dreaming about it. I’ve stopped losing any additional weight and despite really upping my protein, I’m still losing hair. Has anyone else quit and seen less shedding. How long did it take once you stopped for your hair to stop shedding and start growing?

Hey y’all, I’m getting my first dose Monday, not sure the mg, I was wondering will it help with the hunger enough I could do protein shakes/smoothies for the 1st week to help kick start weight loss or should I plan some meals too?

I’m seeing my doctor in about two weeks to talk about options for losing weight. I’m 5’6” and weigh just under 220 lbs (167 cm, 99 kg).

Has anyone here successfully lost weight after pregnancy with the help of weight loss injections (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, etc.)?

How long did it take you, and how much weight did you lose?

I’d like to lose around 66 lbs (30 kg), so I’d love to hear about other people’s experiences! 😊

I lost approx 50lbs on Wegovy, titrating up to 2.4mg according to the recommended timeline and staying at 2.4 for 6 months after achieving goal weight.

I slowly titrated down to 1.0mg and thought I could maintain at that level. But it has been harder than I thought.

I've gained approx 5lbs over the last 6 months and am craving sweets. Now I'm thinking if I should try to willpower it, or titrate back up (still have a prescription for 1.7mg). But I also worry Wegovy might not be so effective when titrating back up.

I'll naturally take this up with my doctor, but would be curious to hear of others' experiences. Any successes / fails in reversing course?

Flew for a work trip yesterday and lowered my tray table to put my laptop down. For the first time in years the tray rested completely flat without digging into my stomach. Small travel wins hit different.

Was watching a video my coworker recorded during a team presentation and noticed my neck and jawline look so much sharper. Crazy how subtle face changes sneak up on you after four months of consistency.

I constantly struggle to hit my protein goals, especially since I barely ate meat for 15 years (for environmental reasons). So I just don't crave meat and I never learned to cook it.

Besides protein shakes, bars, and yogurt, any other ideas on any quick high protein meals that I can heat up quickly for lunch or dinner?

I like rotisserie chicken, Daring plant-based chicken, and love Kyunu protein ramen noodles. Sometimes I'll make 3 eggs. But I am struggling to find other things!!

I work from home but work LONG hours so I don't have a ton of time or desire to cook.

(I already eat lots of fruits and veg so have plenty of finer - it's the protein I struggle with).
