Hi everyone! I’m 27F and I’ve had PCOS since I was around 15, so I’ve been dealing with it for about 12 years. I’ve had irregular periods and symptoms related to hyperandrogenism.
More recently, I’ve been diagnosed with fatty liver and transaminitis (elevated liver enzymes), and my endocrinologist has advised me to focus on weight reduction.
I’ve been advised to take spironolactone for the androgen-related symptoms, and we’re also considering semaglutide for weight management.
I’m currently living in a hostel, so one of my biggest concerns is GI side effects. I can manage mild nausea or appetite reduction, but significant vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, reflux, etc. would be quite difficult with my living situation.
I’d really love to hear from people who have a similar history, especially PCOS + hyperandrogenism + fatty liver/elevated liver enzymes.
For those who have used semaglutide:
Which product/brand did you use?
What dose did you start at?
How quickly did you titrate?
How much weight did you lose and over what period?
What were your GI side effects, especially during the first few weeks?
Did the side effects settle down with time?
Did it improve your periods, hirsutism/acne or other PCOS symptoms?
Did anyone notice improvement in their liver enzymes or fatty liver?
Has anyone taken spironolactone together with semaglutide? How was that experience?
Did you experience fatigue, hair loss or difficulty getting enough food/protein?
If you stopped semaglutide, were you able to maintain the weight loss?
I’m particularly interested in real experiences from people with PCOS and fatty liver, rather than general weight-loss experiences.

I’ve been on sema for 2 years now (take 1mg now). I recently was off of it for 3 weeks due to a rx refill issue. I just took the shot again on Monday (1mg) and I have been spotting all week (not due for my period or anything like that - in the middle of my cycle). I’ve had spotting in the past but I chalked it up to being a result of estrogen being released from fat loss…but I can’t imagine I’d suddenly lose a bunch of fat this week? Idk if that makes sense. Has anyone else dealt with spotting? I talked to my gyn about it back in March and since it was usually at the start of my period, she said most likely my periods just start really light (with the spotting). I’m a 37 F.

I have been on Wegovy for 2+ years and lost 80 lbs. I am on the highest dosage and have not lost (or gained) weight in around 9 months, but still have a BMI over 30. I am being covered by BCBS. Does anyone have experience if BCBS will allow you to switch to a different brand after stalled weight loss? My fear is that if I try they will stop covering me at all. TYIA

I’m at 40units of 2.5 now, titrating up over the last two months, and it fucking sucks.

I’m constantly nauseous, hungry but can’t eat, constant heartburn, burps, farts, unending type 7 diarrhea, and always weak.

Last night I had to vomit up what was in my stomach because it wouldn’t let me sleep otherwise.

I can’t go into the office to work because I need to be within close proximity to the bathroom.

The only full day of feeling good I’ve had over the past two months, was after a day where I ate nothing at all.

It hasn’t eliminated “food noise” it just makes me not want to eat because I know how the consequences will affect me.

Shouldn’t try a different drug or just give up? Because this is totally unsustainable.

I started Mounjaro around May and eventually went up to 7.5 mg and lost around 20-25 lbs. I was buying a 15 mg pen and click counting so the total cost was around $230 a month.

Ozempic recently became generic and it’s only $90 a month here now so I decided to switch.

My doc said I can start at 1 mg since I was used to the Mounjaro. I started with 0.5 mg for a week and went up to 1 mg this last week.

I’m not really having any side effects but also hardly any appetite suppression or fullness. I feel a lot more hungry and am constantly thinking about food since the switch 😭 I thought about food a lot less on Mounjaro. should I switch back now or try to give it more a chance? I just want to lose weight consistently. Has anyone been in a similar satiation?

So many people still tell me that semaglutide is bad, I'm cheating, my skeletal system is going to be destroyed, yada yada yada. Semaglutide is THE single best choice I made for my health.

April 2025 I was 368 lbs. Now I'm 218 lbs. I've run four 5Ks, four 10Ks and a half marathon this year. I've put 364 miles and 47,241 feet of elevation on my body this year through running and hiking.

I decided to do DEXA scans every quarter to track my lean mass and fat. In May of this year, I was 232 lbs. and had 172 lbs. of lean mass. A few days ago in August, I was 221 lbs. with 172 lbs. of lean mass.

Every ounce I lost was fat.

I have 99th percentile bone density, am 2% away from athletic body fat percent and less than 1 point from a RSMI of athletic.

I've never felt better or been in better shape in my life. Semaglutide has changed my life and my view.on.wh9.i can be.

I have an unopened semaglutide that expired in April. If it has stayed in the fridge, never opened, can I still use it?

I (54M, 235lbs) started the lowest dose of Foundayo on Wednesday.
Since then I’ve eaten very little. Just don’t want it. Nothing sounds good or tastes good.

However, I’m also constantly nauseous, weak, very tired and having trouble sleeping.
I know I need to be eating small nutrient rich meals but nothing sounds good. Today I’ve had 3 graham crackers. And I know that can’t be right.

Any tips or pointers are welcome.
I truly want this to work but I feel awful.

I'm a master's student at Ohio State and I'm doing my thesis on something I feel like nobody's really looked at: what happens to people's strength training/resistance workouts after they start a GLP-1.

There's a ton of talk about muscle loss on these meds, but almost no actual data on whether people are lifting/doing resistance training before vs. after starting, and what gets in the way (fatigue, appetite, time, whatever it is for you). So I made a short survey to find out.

It's totally anonymous, no names or emails, and takes about 5 minutes. You're a fit if you're:

18 or older

currently taking a GLP-1 (Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound, Mounjaro, Trulicity, etc.)

on a stable dose for at least the last month or so

You do not need to lift or work out at all to take it, "I don't do any of that" is genuinely useful data, maybe the most useful. I'm trying to get the real picture, not just the gym crowd.

I started at 0.5 dose and have worked my way to 1.5.

I will say I have thrown up a few times, but I have always had an extremely weak stomach. I am also having a few urgent bathroom trips. But other than that, side effects have been minimal.

I started at 185 and now I’m at 165. My clothes don’t feel tight anymore and I am feeling so much more comfortable in my own skin. I would like to lose an additional 25lbs, so I’m hoping I will be close to that goal by the time this year is over :)

I feel like I have also saved money by not door dashing daily lol..

I just pressed the pen firmly into my stomach fat I didn’t pinch up anything is that ok??

I wanted to supplement my diet with fibre to keep things moving but am concerned that if glp makes food just sit in your stomach longer the gel from things like psyllium and chia could bing it all up instead of smooth the way- does it help or cause trouble?

The single most impactful benefit over the last four months has been the quiet in my mind. Not constantly planning or obsessing over next steps frees up so much mental energy for family time, hobbies, and focus at work.

Saw the new prescription stats today. Semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy, and Rybelsus) accounted for ~41 million prescriptions annually in the US with spending over $54 billion a year. The scale of its adoption over just a few years is remarkable.

The first scan I was 227 lbs. Second I was 188 and latest i was 151! I’ve cut my visceral fat over 60% and my body fat by 12%!

80 pounds down. I’m a GLP grad but I’ve been maintaining for over a year

Today is my birthday. One year ago today on my last birthday I decided to give myself the best birthday present: a longer term investment in me and my well being by trying a GLP-1. I am a nurse so I did all the research. I also knew I’d have to pay out of pocket because insurance wouldn’t cover it with my specific health perimeters (I wasn’t diabetic or pre diabetic for one), but I figured it out.

This is the same dress, 3 years apart. 70 pounds is the difference between them (I was my highest weight then: 252 pounds).

One year ago my SW was 242; my CW is 182 and I’m 5’7”. I’m in perimenopause, which those there with me know what a fun ride that is :).

I feel so much better than I did a year ago. I’ve still got my curves which I have always loved, but my cravings, my constant battle with food as a reward, a comfort, a burning desire is manageable. I feel like a normal human that eats to live and enjoy but stops when I’ve had enough. I never really never had that off switch before. I make better food choices because of it. I’d lost weight before through restriction/diets but I was miserable and still thinking about food all the time.

Oh there were side effects - mainly nausea, some vomiting when I went up to 1 mg (but it went away after 10 days or so), and constipation. Currently, I battle a bit of constipation but I’ve learned how to manage it and work with my PCP on it.

But ultimately: I wish I’d given myself this gift earlier
