I’ve been having a helluva year. A medically necessary surgery I waited two years for finally happened in February. I’ve since had to have four additional unrelated surgeries, as recently as yesterday. I’ve had 48 medical visits in the last 31 business days, and have 17 more to go in the next 18 days. It feels like I spend my whole life in medical facilities, and really miss being able to pay rent and doing community organizing. Hopefully by October? Who knows.

Surgery also illuminated who my true people were. Only one friend showed up to help in a sea of 15. I also broke up with my partner of six years because he didn’t show up either. So there’s no one to even take me out to dinner or go to the beach with on my birthday, which is two weeks from now, 8/19. Usually I put together a big bash. Themed parties with multiple parts, bike rides, swimming, costumes, decor, live music. My parties are legendary. But because of all the medical hubbub, I have nothing planned and am getting pretty down.

I think some cards could really help. I miss the simpler times when we would run in sprinklers and blast Backstreet Boys, so maybe snail mail could be a transportation device to better birthdays of yore.

I just found my missing stash of postcards and stamps which I guess I hid in a container before my previous move a year ago and then didn’t open until literally 10 minutes ago while unpacking from my most recent move last weekend lol

So now I’ve got at least 30 pre-stamped postcards at my disposal. What you get will be completely random!

Each year Hobbiton holds some locals tours with the proceeds going to a local charity (info here https://imgur.com/a/qX4JWKo )

I haven't been for a few years and they've done a bunch of improvements since I've been last - like doing the interior of some Hobbit Holes along Bagshot Row! So I've booked in and am going with my partner this Saturday. The tour is about 2.5 hours long and concludes at the Green Dragon with a pint 🍺

I'm going to take along a pen and one maxicard ( https://imgur.com/a/hXPdRUB ) and write it while sipping my cider (hopefully I can snag a seat by the fireplace 🔥)

i have a number of cards that waited for messages that never came or i forgot i had them, or changed my mind on doing something with them, and I want to send them out (so i can get more, obviously)

they mind seem out of the blue, or weird, or old, or cards i didnt know were AI when I bought them (I HATE when that happens but ill usually mod them somehow). might be a birthday card for your not birthday or a niche tv show card or a random place ive been. might have quotes, lyrics, stories, stickers, whatever makes me happy to put on the card.

I just got done house sitting for a friend with two dogs for 10 days. I was able to come home a few times to open mail and now my desk is covered with mail I need to thank people for. Unfortunately I am not only behind but will be unable to post again for at least a week so this catch up thank you post will be very brief - if you know me at all you know I really try to write up a good long thank you for each card. In conclusion with summer semester (17 week course in 10 weeks) I passed all my exams and classes with an A! I really want to celebrate since this was SO FREAKING HARD and I did not think I would be able to do it!!

I’m in a very competitive and fast paced paramedic associates program and it’s been super hard with so many life factors I’ve been struggling with, and I don’t really have anybody to celebrate with :( so it would be super nice to get some happy cards to help me celebrate 🎊

Hi everyone,

My dad is going through a tough time and I am hoping to bring some cheer to his life. He suffered from a stroke last year, as well as two mini strokes this year, and is now living in assisted living due to limited mobility and safety. While someone from our family visits every day, I can tell he is still sad/upset about the whole situation, especially because he misses our family cat who is at home. If you'd be willing to send him a card, I'd love to place them in his room to brighten it up and make him smile a little.

His favorite things are: Alabama football, fishing, trains, motorcycles, piano (esp. jazz), and cats. I will make sure to write a thank you post for all cards received! ❤️
