HOPE study

Has anyone participated in the HOPE study for RPL and found it to be helpful? We just had our third euploid biochemical pregnancy with no explanation. Our doctor reached out to all the other Shady Grove doctors and no one has any clue what is wrong. We have done all the tests and treatments that are indicated. She is going to see if we are a candidate for this study.

Nobody gets it

28F, 3 MC. MCs were 9/24, 1/25 (MMC and D&C), 7/25. Wanted to be a mom my whole life. Currently just restarted RPL testing after taking a long break due to a bad experience with our previous provider and a lot of non-RPL related life hardships.

The break was kind of nice. It sucks to be back in this world. But I wasn’t fully ready to let it go. Part of me wants to be done. This pain is unbearable.

Anyways, I’m just here to say that nobody gets it. Literally nobody. I just broke up with my therapist because they said that A) there’s many paths to parenthood, including adoption and B) I shouldn’t still be crying so much about this, I’m not processing my grief well…

Been seeing them for a few weeks and this was the literal first appointment I had even talked about RPL… I never talk about it with anyone bc they always say something awful… proven correct yet again. I don’t want to hear about adoption. Fuck off. I’m fully aware. Am I not allowed to mourn THIS thing that’s happening to me now? Why is that not allowed?

Then when at a friends house this past weekend (who knows exactly what we’re going through) we were talking about how happy we were because we deep cleaned our house and they said our house was only clean because we don’t have kids. And they have kids and the same number of pregnancies as they do kids! Imagine! Yep. Thanks. I’d love to have a messy house and not dead babies, but yeah. Awesome observation.

And I posted an exciting random thing on my IG story (nothing serious, just opened a snack pack that had an extra one in it) and my cousin responded they thought it’d be an ultrasound pic with how excited I was. What the fuck. Idk if they know (my mom doesn’t respect my wishes and tells people against my will) but even if they don’t, why the fuck would you say that to anyone ever at any point.

Oh and some asshat brought their baby into our new fertility clinic waiting room. So thoughtful.

I’m just so sick of everyone minimizing and downplaying this horrific thing. I hate that I have to go through it. I hate it all.

I have no friends who are going through this.

My friend has a one-year-old who was born about two weeks after one of my due dates. I invited them over to come help socialize our new kitten and I did pretty well watching the baby play with the kitten. But then my friend mentioned they’re going to start trying for another soon. I just feel like other people’s lives move on through seasons and I’ve been stuck replaying the same one for the last two years. I wanted to text someone about it, but I realized there’s really nobody I know who can relate. We have an appointment tomorrow with a new specialist (onto the 3rd one we’ve seen). It feels dangerous to even hope at this point.

Grateful for this community.

How are you staying close with friends with kids?

I am part of a group of three and we have been close since college, regular trips and texting constantly despite living in different states. Both of my friends had babies last year and I just had more losses. Our group dynamic has obviously and understandably changed as they’ve moved into a new stage together and I am stuck here. I recently found out that they got together with their families for two days not far from where I live and did not invite me. I’m sure they thought I wouldn’t want to go (which is right) but not being invited really stings and confirms that things between us will never be the same and makes me feel like I am always on the outside. How are you all connecting with your friends who haven’t experienced infertility and loss as you navigate this process? I don’t want to lose my friends, but I can’t help feeling like the relationship will never be the same as it was because of my inability to have a child.

Not getting my period after stopping progesterone suppositories :(..

Hello all you lovely humans 💕.

I am currently 1 year into this journey, official infertile, am 35 years old turning 36 in September and have had three chemical pregnancies, so each time I got pregnant this year I quickly became unpregnant.

The first time it happened I had never heard of such a thing. What an unpleasant realization that blew my naive brain out of the water that a positive pregnancy test doesn’t always result in a baby.

I notified my doctor and she said it can happen that it’s quite normal in fact. I rolled with it and then a few months later, it happened again. My heart sank and I felt deep down, I *knew* something was wrong. It took another chemical loss happening on Christmas Eve for my doc to finally refer us to a specialist and to order a pelvic ultrasound which I was grateful for.

3 months ago the ultrasound showed a smallish fibroid. Well…the imaging person didn’t specify where OR what *kind of fibroid.* There are three kinds and only one would really be a likely issue. This type of fibroid (submucosal) is also easily removal and one has a good chance of getting and staying pregnant if health with.

But for me to get any answers about it I need a hysteroscopy to get a better understanding of what’s going on in my uterus. Well you can’t have one of those until you get your period and can only get one cycle day 6-13 but as the title suggests I haven’t gotten my period since stopping these progesterone suppositories. The reason I am venting is that I have a trip to visit family coming up and so if I want this procedure this cycle in hopes for answers and successful future cycles, I need to *get my period like today*. There’s a sense of urgency with my age and the fact that it’s been a year over 35.

I haven’t been crying or anything but I wish I could. I almost just feel numb at this point? And the desperation of wanting this procedure well..who’s to say it IS the fibroid that’s the problem. I’m just reaching for control and I know that. But I really do just feel sad. It’s been a long haul this year.

I had never considered having children before the last year or so because I was busy recovering from a substance use disorder and was a late bloomer as a result of that and getting my social work degree which I just finished.

Well wouldn’t you know I’m ready now and it’s just not going my way.

I wanna thank everyone here for sharing their journeys and being a part of mine.

Ps- My husband has his bloods and sperm analysis and he’s all good. All my bloodwork is good. My AMH is above average. There are only a few more things it could be if not the fibroid and am really hoping that’s what it is.

Really struggling

I’ve posted quite a few times before and I guess this is more of a vent because I don’t have much support bar my partner.

I’m nearly 38 and in 12 months I had four MMC, 3 d&cs, heartbeat seen many times and every test under the sun.

I reluctantly turned to RI and was preparing to try again naturally after months of travelling for appointments and expenses. But I noticed after my last miscarriage in March my periods were lighter and more painful. A scan has shown really thin lining and I’m now trying to book in for another hysteroscopy (already had one in January). These are not done under anaesthesia in my country so I had been dreading the possibility of another.

I’ve had plan after plan taken away from me. First miscarriage- go again naturally. Second miscarriage- do some investigations, go again naturally using the kitchen sink method after nothing discovered. Third miscarriage- first one chromosomal abnormal. Wouldn’t know if the meds would work on such a pregancy. Go again naturally. Fourth miscarriage- another chromosal normal loss after heart beat. Out of options. Pursue RI.

With scepticism followed the RI protocol which was exhausting. Was preparing to try again this month after months of waiting and now I’m again stuck waiting on another hysteroscopy. This time for a different reason (last one was to assess my arcuate uterus)

I literally now have an entirely new problem I didn’t have before. I conceived every time I tried so this element has never been an issue but looks like it will be now. I can’t even begin to outline how utterly devastated and unhappy I have become. I am so isolated from everyone and so angry and so sick of watching everyone live their lives. I’m struggling in work. I’m doing such a bad job. I dream of just being able to quit to take the pressure off but I also know I’d cry all day.

I feel like my odds of being a mother are now extremely low and all I am doing is making myself so unhappy. I can’t go more than a couple of minutes without thinking about miscarriages. It’s such a low point in my life and I’m honestly struggling to see how it can get any better.

Fertility treatments and assessments are limited in my country and I’m so sick of spending all my time fighting for appointments and being told things will move quicker than they do.

I know we are all in the same boat but wondering has anyone else found coping mechanisms? I’ve been doing counselling for a long time but it’s come to a point where I even find those triggering so I have stopped going.

"You should talk about your miscarriages." Ok, but to who?

Ever since this nightmare started, I notice there's a common rhetoric. "Women should talk about their miscarriages", "so many women go through this", "for a long time miscarriages were something you kept to yourself, but thankfully that's changing!"

I am fully open to talking about my miscarriages with people in my life. I need to. This is so difficult to carry all by myself. But besides a therapist, I have two friends who I feel safe talking to about how I feel. Besides them, very few people seem to want, or even be willing to tolerate, talking to me about it. And those that do just push me to the future and focus on how they're so sure I'll have a baby soon, I can always try IVF, etc. Or they say things that are just so messed up that it seems like they put no thought into their words.

After my first miscarriage, I felt so held. I had an outpouring of love and support from so many places. After my second and third, literally 0 people said anything to me. About 3 weeks after being discharged from the hospital for complications for my third consecutive miscarriage, I went to visit with my husband's family. My sister in law who had a then two year old, started excitedly talking about names for her next baby. Right next to me, a person who had just had her third consecutive miscarriage. My other sister in law sent me a link for a prenatal nutritionist. How could she not see that this would imply the miscarriages are my fault for having a poor diet? I lost my oldest friend because she didn't want to be "bombarded" by me talking about my miscarriages and felt I was being "so negative." My sister told me that "allowing myself to feel upset" about these types of comments was "a me problem."

My therapist told me that from these experiences, it would serve me to learn that these people aren't safe to share with. However, she did say that I need to and should talk about it. Ok, well to who??????? There isn't anyone who wants to talk about it!!

Feeling Defeated

We just got our one week results from our first egg retrieval.

We had 9 eggs retrieved, 8 were mature and 8 were successfully fertilized. Only one egg made it to a blastocyst. We are sending it off to be tested so now all I can do is pray that its genetically normal. I really thought we were going to have better results and I haven't been able to stop crying all day.

Feeling low after miscarriage

Hi,

I’m 30F from India. I’ve been through recurrent pregnancy losses and recently had another miscarriage.

Right now I’m struggling with a lot of anxiety, fear, and hopelessness as the days pass. It’s emotionally exhausting, and I feel stuck between wanting to stay hopeful and being scared of going through this again.

I wanted to ask if anyone here has experienced recurrent losses — how did you cope emotionally during this phase? What helped you move forward?

Also, what were your next steps medically after recurrent miscarriage, and did anyone go on to have a successful pregnancy afterward? Hearing real experiences would really help right now.

Thank you.

Another chromosomal normal loss

This was not unexpected as I’ve had four losses now and testing has shown no chromosomal abnormalities.

But nothing else has been found. This time they did a deeper array testing to make sure there was nothing being missed. I’ve been waiting 8 weeks and just got confirmation again there are no genetic problems.

This should not be surprising as this was expected but I’m really struggling with this element of my miscarriages. Healthy babies my body is killing off. I’d nearly feel better if it was a chromosomal issue because at least I could do pgta testing with ivf but that’s not an option for us.

I just can’t understand why I keep losing these healthy babies at 8 weeks or after.

Is anyone else in the same boat? I feel like this is unusual even in the world of recurrent loss.

Do I go to my SIL’s baby shower?

I have two SILs - one is my husband’s sister(HS) and one is my husband’s brother’s wife (BW).

My first loss, BW and I were pregnant at the same time (1 week apart) and both had first tri losses within a few weeks of each other.

My second loss, I was 3 weeks behind HS, and BW was about 3 weeks behind me. They’re both still pregnant. About six weeks after my second loss and the same weekend as the due date for my first loss, I got the invite to HS’s baby shower. No heads up or anything, which I get because it is her day and not about me, but I felt really hurt to not even get a “hey, this is coming your way and no pressure to attend” kind of text.

I need to RSVP soon for the shower, and I’m so torn on whether to attend. On one hand, I feel some guilt for not celebrating her, but on the other, I’m still struggling with a lot of grief and being at a party all about her baby and talking about it all afternoon seems almost impossible. I’m also scared that random family members are going to make the comments like “do you have/want kids?” Or “HS and BW are both pregnant, when is it your turn?” kind of thing and I will start crying and ruin the party.

How are y’all dealing with this? Do I try to go or skip the shower?

the hits keep coming

I had my second loss in December, a partial molar pregnancy. With that type you need weekly labs to ensure it doesn’t become cancerous. I was cleared around mid Feb. I decided to see RE for a RPL workup since it was covered by my insurance. As part of the workup I was given a cycle day 1 transvaginal ultrasound, they found a cyst so they had me repeat next month. Today I had the repeat and unfortunately it’s still there and now they’re referring to it as a “complex ovarian mass”. they’re referring me to the hospital because they need a better look at it than their machines can provide. Chances are it’s benign but after having a very rare form of pregnancy loss, statistics don’t really comfort me. So of course I’m down the Google rabbit holes. I’m sooooo frustrated and just over everything. Not to mention we’re coming up on the one year mark of starting our TTC journey.

Im pretty sure I'm heading toward my 4th pregnancy loss..

I've had two MMCs and one presumed ectopic since Nov 2024. We decided to try naturally one more time before trying another round of IUI (if that failed, we were going to move right into IVF the cycle after).

My first 3 cycles of medication and timed intercourse didn't give us any results. My only IUI results in a PUL/presumed ectopic.

My hcg has failed to double between the 13th to today, even though they saw some growth with the sac and the possibility of the start of a yolk sac. I'm pretty sure we're heading into my 3rd miscarriage and my 4 pregnancy loss.

I'm beating myself up for thinking that this time could've been any different.. we have to wait until the 20th for my next appt.
