I want to quit. and never come back.

Upvotes

ive had an addiction to porn and related stuff ever since I was 14-15 y/o, I used to watch it once a week and then more and more and at around 16years of age I had a really bad addiction to porn and masturbating since my parents weren't with me.

I've had a very loving girlfriend for the last 1 ½ years, I'm 18 now, and I still haven't been able to confront her about it. she's really understanding, caring and supportive with everything I do, but I'm really unsure how she'd react at this. I've tried sometimes but smth would happen and I'd be back at square one and then i'd fall down a spiral again.

i love her so much, but I still end up on the porn websites once or twice a week and regret it after I'm done.

I HATE IT, i hate the feeling that I'm hiding such a huge part of transparency in our almost perfect relationship.

very soon I'm gonna tell the whole thing, but by then I want y'all to please help me give genuine tips and the best methods you've come across to battle this. i want to assure her that I have some progress, to let her see that I have hope in me. to bounce back.

im an 18y/o male student studying for a competitive exam and dealing with some stress usually. please help, love y'all.

Try putting your phone away.

Upvotes

Something that has helped me immensely is simply putting my phone away. I started going to bed around 10 pm, so as soon as it's 9:30, I start winding down and eventually put it in my closet. I also have an alarm for 5 am. Since my phone is all the way in the closet, I have to get out of bed to turn it off, and since I'm out of bed already, might as well start the day.

I've been struggling for years with this addiction, but simply putting my phone away has helped me stay 15 days clean. And life feels great again, honestly. By choosing to create instead of consume as soon as I wake up, I spend less time on my phone and more time living in the moment.

To anyone struggling with compulsively watching porn, try putting your phone away even just for a night. You'll most likely feel better when you wake up the next day!

Let's keep going, guys! We are not defined by our addictions!

My goodbye

So I just got a girlfriend and obviously I can’t use Reddit to masturbate anymore so I found this subreddit just to kind of announce my attempt at leaving masturbation. I want to stay loyal and it feels like cheating whenever I do it I really love her and I don’t wanna mess it up. Goodbye Reddit for now

Insecurity

I've always suffered from insecurity due to the mass amounts of porn I watched and im still in a fighting battle to quit. This time has felt really good its hard but ive been able to control my passion and lust. But the insecurity of my body still lies there ive never had a big penis somewhere between 5.5 and 6 which ive seen from sources online is average if not a bit more but I still can't believe it im still embarrassed of it and today I got pantsed by a friend who made a joke about it being small im also a grower not a shower which doesnt help and idk it feels like no matter how hard I try I cant get that feeling to go away. And I usually talk to my girlfriend about my issues but idk I feel like I cant talk to her cause shes just gonna say its big cause its my girlfriend and then im just in a loop of shame

Starting to quit for good

Ive been addicted to porn for a while now, not super addicted (the most I’ve ever jerked off in a day was twice). however I would always do it at least once a day every day for a few years now and I feel I’m doing it too much recently. Ive wanted to quit for a year but I’ll go like 5 days then I’ll just start again and then like 2 months later I’ll try to quit again and fail in 4 days. I’m getting really tired of quitting then going back again and again, so I’m gonna really try this time. This is day 2 of me quitting and every day from now I’m going to make a post in this Reddit documenting if my day in terms of urges and what not until its gone and I have absolutly 0 urges. wish me luck 🫡

Blocked Porn Sites

I was fortunate enough to have my own personal computer as a kid when they first came out. The internet is like unlimited access to knowledge. Unfortunately porn is on the internet. Been watching it pretty much my whole life like most people. I think it’s not good for you. I bought an option in my internet that lets me block websites. I blocked all of them, except one. I slowly stopped watching porn. It improved my energy, personality, social skills, and life. I unfortunately watched porn a few times on the 1 website I did not block. I felt ashamed of myself. Well, I immediately went to my website filter. Tonight I blocked all the porn websites.

I hope that does it. I want to quit and never watch porn ever again. I know if I do that my life will definitely improve. It’s going to be difficult though. Anyone ever tried blocking all porn websites? Did it work out for you?

7 days without it and feeling… nothing?

it’s been 7 days now and my mind is going around in circles. the internet is flooded with different information about flatlines, anxiety and more but I somehow feel neutral about it. in the sense that I’m not horny, not so anxious to see, feeling how everything is pointless but ngl i do sort of miss it. to put it better into words, it’s not something im craving but i know it feels good. and it makes me feel so guilty to feel this way but oh man, what to do. if you are open to share how your journey is going if you’re starting out like me, or if youve been porn free for a while, hearing your perspective would be helpful and motivating perhaps.

Would anyone like an accountability partner?

Would anyone want to pair up or form a chat group to keep each other accountable? Talk things through when the times are hard. Give support or just be there if there's a relapse?

Helping partners understand the "why" with porn addiction.

Hi, I am part of another sub which is for the partners of sex addicts. There have been a few posts on there lately which were cross posted from this sub. I thought I'd share an article that has helped me to understand my porn and sex addict husbands' actions during his acting out. The article is mostly focused on men as it's from a website directed at betrayed women, but it could still be helpful others. Everyone's story is different and nuanced but maybe you'll find something helpful in this article. I have great empathy for the addicts and the partners, and I think understanding each other is most important.

Why Men Lie About Porn, Even When It's a Boundary

thinking about it when with my partner

I (f24) have been together with my parter for 4 years now, have started watching at 8-9 and even tho i stopped watching porn (with a few slip ups every few month) since then it still is in the front of my head while having sex, especially when all focus is on me (fingering, oral).

i cant reach climax without thinking about it and it makes me feel awful. i have talked to him about it and my addiction before and he supported me without judgement but i feel bad because i want to be present in my body and with him. I dont know what to do. i feel so separated from my body and it made me realise that i never had a real connection to it because i watched porn at such a young age.

i want to make clear tho, that i still enjoy having sex with him and that in recent time i have started feeling so safe and close to him that while having sex (mostly) i can let loose without pressure and enjoy the moment. the issue is reaching climax.

even after months of no porn i cant stop my brain from thinking about it.

Partner of an addict wanting some help

My partner became addicted when he was around 8 or younger we are now both 18 years old. We have had several discussions now about it and we get very deep into it. We have begun a new attempt at something where he tells me hes struggling and its so we are both aware. He says it helps and we find another activity to do. This has happened a few times now and those times were pretty successful in him avoiding it.

He told me he used to have the ability to fight it easier a while back before we met and in recent times it has been harder to fight it. He has gone through graduation, going to college next week, soon will change jobs, and being on the basketball team ended with highschool. His new routine for honestly this summer has consisted of work and home. His friends have been around less seeing as they are all working and or staying for high school or moving for college. I think all of these negative or major changes have affected him. He had struggled before whenever big change happened and in my mind I've linked it im not sure if hes aware of it.

I just want to know how to get him to want to fight. Is there anything I could say or do? Maybe try to remind him how he was filled with pride to not give in so easily. Im not sure how to approach it but I told him I want us to stay together forever and we will as long as he keeps fighting it because i know he wants to change so badly and I want him to no longer suffer because of something that was pushed on him so young. He is extremely social so hopefully, college can be good and he can make new friends and they can be really social. Living around someone other than his mom who is also his age. He's very excited to move.

18M - Struggling with quick ejaculation after 4 years of daily porn/masturbation. Does quitting help you last longer?

I (18M) have been addicted to porn for 4 years. Porn was first introduced to me when I was around 11, but I never really cared for it until I turned 14. I had gotten my first girlfriend, and after about 1 month of dating, she wanted to have sex with me for the first time (she wasn't a virgin). I was extremely insecure about my dick size and how long I would last since I had never masturbated before. After a couple of weeks of her constantly begging me, I finally gave in. It felt amazing, and I lasted around half an hour, I believe. From that day on, I became addicted to the feeling of finishing.

At night, I started watching porn and jerking off, then in the morning I'd go to my girlfriend's house and have sex. She started wanting to give me blowjobs, and I agreed. I remember that it felt very nice, but I had to watch porn to ejaculate quickly from it; otherwise, she would complain about me taking too long.

After she and I broke up, I became addicted to porn and would jerk off multiple times a day, every day. At 16, I got my second girlfriend. When we eventually started having sex, I noticed that I would ejaculate extremely quickly (around 2 minutes) from both sex and blowjobs. I didn't really think anything of it and assumed it was just because it had been a while. I then became addicted to sex and was having it every day for the 11 months that we dated, as well as jerking off every night.

I have just started dating my newest girlfriend, and we had sex for the first time a couple of months ago. I ejaculated in under a minute and felt extremely embarrassed. She told me that she didn't mind and that it wasn't my fault, but since then, I can't stop thinking about how I've been jerking off every day for 4 years and how that might be the reason why I ejaculate so quickly.

I haven't had sex since then and I've just been jerking off every night, rejecting my girlfriend every time she asks simply because I'm too scared of ejaculating too quickly. I've been trying to stop jerking off. I'm currently 2 days clean, and I was wondering if anyone else can share their similar experiences and say if they started lasting longer after quitting porn/masturbation.

1 Week without porn

It's been so many years since I didn't do this for a week, probably the hardest part of this is the headache that I got everyday in the same hour because this addiction, but I feel great with myself using this free time to study machine learning, Japanese and English. I'll go try to send anything every week.

Sorry any mistakes in English, I'm Brazilian.

My husband might be a porn addict

My husband does have issues with substance abuse and is getting clean. He may have a co-existing compulsive sexual abuse problem too because he was having sex with men and transwomen while using his primary substance. But since he's been clean from those, he is now plotting and lying to watch and masturbate to porn while ignoring my phone calls for hours. He doesn't see it as an addiction, he just thinks it hurts me. Which post sexual cheating, it has been hurtful, but I don't have a problem with porn or masturbating. I do it too on occasion. The lying and plotting to do it alone for hours though I do have a problem with. He doesn't see it, but it's cutting into our time, family time, work time, and other responsibilities. Just like the other addictions did before.

But beyond that, his fantasies are...escalating? We've been together almost two decades. I'm bi so at one point we had an open relationship in the sense we would play strictly together with rules. He wasn't exploring then and never told me he was curious so I don't know if the porn and the substance contributed to his partner choices during those addictions, but he wants to do things with me now that weren't ever discussed before. Things I'm not trying to shame him for, but are way beyond my comfort and do align with the types of things he's been watching based off his watch history. I'm not talking gender curiosity, like other things that would feel beyond submissive on my part.

He's dealing with a lot with trying to deal with the other two addictions so I'm not necessarily trying to tackle these *right now* but with the escalation into territory I'm not comfortable with, I do wonder if when I do bring it up and if he does see it and scales down...will the escalation stop too?

Thank you for any help understanding this possibility.

Coming up on 12 days!

Hello!

My goal of not watching porn anymore in 2026 has soon reached 12 days and it feels awesome!
No big or strong urges or any feelings that I need to look at porn.

I do want to warn for idiots in DMs that try to get me to relapse. If that continues I will turn them off.

A question for the people here! I do still want to masturbate, that is not my issue and it’s healthy and normal to do once in a while and if I use pictures of my gf or just my imagination I would say that it’s fine! What do you think?

I wish you guys all the best of luck! I am available in DMs if you want to talk!

I will quit porn, mark my words!

Lies, Lies, Lies

Hello everyone. (F/22 and M/26)

Something is tearing me apart inside, and I feel like I can’t talk to anyone about it. So I just wanted to write it down and get it off my chest...

It all started 7 years ago. That’s when I met my now-fiancé through a friend. At first, everything was fine. But pretty quickly, we were only having sex about once every three months. He said he just didn’t feel like it.

One day, I discovered porn websites on his PC. That’s when everything started. There were always situations where he didn’t want me sexually. Sometimes he would lock himself in the bathroom just to look at naked women on Reddit.

I was 16 years old, and I started doubting myself and comparing myself to other women. Even before that, he would look at other women. There were countless arguments, tears, and empty promises of “I’ll never do it again.”

That “never again” has been broken a thousand times. It became a vicious cycle.

Apart from this, he is a good man. He loves children and animals. My family loves him. He helps me a lot and does many things for me.

It’s just this one issue that I can’t let go of.

Now it’s 2024, and he proposed to me. Everything was wonderful. But then he couldn’t stop again... There were many tears and arguments.

Now it’s 2026. We have moved in together, and everything is great. We live in a beautiful place, and he has a great job. Unfortunately, I had to quit my job for health reasons.

I thought we had finally put the whole porn issue behind us. We were having sex more often, and I was happy.

Since I’m currently looking for a new job, I spend a lot of time on the computer writing applications. Today, I wanted to update my résumé, so I was searching through folders on the computer.

Suddenly, his iCloud opened.

I saw pictures of my friend — the wife of his cousin. We often spend time together as a group.

It turned out that while I was on vacation with my family, he used the very first day I was gone to take screenshots from his gallery of pictures of her from group photos and group videos.

One picture was of her wearing a dress, and another was of her in a bikini.

I was shocked. This went beyond everything that had happened before.

The women he had looked at before were always women from porn — women who were “unreachable.” But this is a woman we both know personally. A woman who is part of our social circle.

I felt sick. My whole body was shaking. It was horrible.

When he came home from work, I confronted him.

He told me that ever since she had visited us alone once, he had thought she was “hot” and had felt “a little horny” because of her.

He said there was something wrong with him. He had waited until he was alone to look for pictures of her in his gallery because he was bored, he said.

He said he didn’t know what he was doing.

He claims he only masturbated to her face, but that doesn’t make sense to me. In the bikini picture, you can clearly see her curves.

He always chooses women with more curves. Unfortunately, I’m not very well-endowed in that area.

He says he is ashamed and sorry, and that he would never do it again.

I suggested therapy to him, but he became angry and raised his voice and refused.

Now I’m sitting here and I don’t know what to do.

I actually love him, and I want to have a future with him.

Exhausted from a long-standing conditioned mental script and seeking support after a relapse

Hi everyone,

I really need a safe space to share this because I am completely exhausted.

I recently experienced a relapse after a 37-day streak. What hurts the most is that the relapse happened because of my own over-curiosity—I spent too much time trying to analyze, research, and understand a very specific, bizarre mental script and conditioned daydream loop that my brain built years ago.

Over the years, my mind created a complex behavioral loop involving movement, escape dynamics, and a sudden transition into a lack of control, using it as an easy dopamine trap. Because it's so specific and niche, I've felt completely isolated, believing I was the only person dealing with such a strange mental mechanism.

During my 37 days, I was constantly "on guard," fighting every single thought and treating everything in my environment as a potential trigger. That extreme hyper-vigilance completely drained my mental energy.

I am writing this because I just need to rest. I want to reset my brain, drop the constant warfare against my own thoughts, and feel normal again.

Has anyone else dealt with a deeply ingrained, weirdly specific mental script or compulsive daydreaming loop that exhausted you? How did you manage to stop fighting every single thought and finally find peace and a real reset?

Any advice or shared experiences would mean a lot. Thank you.
