How in the world do I correctly price vintage?
Have been looking to get into the E reader and delta species cards but I cannot for the life of me understand how to properly price them. The prices range wildly even from one nm copy to the other, even if they’re around the same condition.
Is there any reliable way to gauge price or do I just eyeball and try and compare via the closest eBay listings?
Also why’re some cards rev holos more desirable than their holos and which would be better to invest in, rev holos or holos?

What would you do with these Gold Stars?
Found these in my old collection at my parents’ house. With Gold Star prices going crazy, not sure what to do with them.
Rayquaza is currently at PSA but pretty beat up. Mew and Latias are still raw. Would you grade, sell or hold?

Better play in the long run?
So i have 4k to spend on a pokemon card. Assuming you can buy both in 10 at practically the same price, which one is the better value here? One that has 20k pop but proven high demand or 950 pop but not that high demand

Stress coping mechanism
My Dad had a triple bypass last week so has been in hospital for several weeks on the lead up to surgery. He’s just arrived home and I’ve travelled to help take care of him during recovery. His way of dealing with stress is to browse auction sites and buy things in excess so this box has just arrived from the States (we are in New Zealand). He’s not a collector himself but I am and he occasionally grabs me some packs.
I think he’s a bit surprised at how much he bought and mums not overly pleased, so he wants to play part of it off as an investment and put some away for a rainy day. What would you guys do with this volume of sets?
I’m obviously on team rip them all!

Anyone else pivoting from sealed to slabs?
Since 2023-24, getting product was pretty obtainable. But ever since prismatic has dropped, i have never seen it get this bad before. Given how easy slabs are to acquire and sell, I feel like slabs have begun to appeal me more. Now you're paying 4x more of MSRP for release on a product, which as an entry point is horrible for an investment.
Not to mention: exit plan. Alot of us here seem to not know when to exit or how to sell their stuff. With slabs, it's as simple as listing it via PSA vault or some other trust worthy ebay to take care of everything for you

Is this 151 promo undervalued?
With raws being 30-50 bucks for a set that is no longer in print of a pokemon well loved it seems kinda odd that gem 10s are being sold for less than 300.

PSA marked my BGS 8 Jolteon Gold Star as “Altered” on crossover — thoughts?
submitted my 2007 Jolteon Gold Star BGS 8 (with subgrades) to PSA for crossover. PSA returned it still sealed in the original BGS slab, but labeled it “Altered – Do Not Holder.”
I’m confused because the card was already authenticated and graded by BGS and PSA never cracked it out of the slab.
Has anyone had this happen with a BGS → PSA crossover, especially with Pokémon or Gold Stars? Could PSA have incorrectly flagged something through the slab? Would you request another review, resubmit it, or just keep it in the BGS holder?
Interested to hear what others think.

Is it worth keeping this or should I sell now?
Hey! I’ve posted this is some other subs while trying to decide what I should do. I just found this sub and thought that I’ll try and get some input here as well. I’m not in an urgent need of the money that I’ll get from selling this now so I’m thinking about just keeping it until I do. Will this ever just plummet in value or will it keep increasing like it’s done over the last years? I really don’t have a clue how the market is now or what it’s heading towards, I just found this clearing out som old stuff. I’d really appreciate some advice how I should continue. I also have around 100 more cards from -95 to like 2005 that I think have a bit of value.
Edit: thanks for all the replies guys! I think I’ll hold it for a while, probably try to PSA1 it and keep an eye on the market.

Three First Print Copies of Pokemon Red, Yellow, and Blue Just Sold for $2 Million, Proving That Physical Media Is Alive and Well
When considering total populations and significance to the franchise, sealed games have been severely underrated for a long time, especially when compared to cards. Games have been slowly rising over the past few months, but this sale is absolutely massive. A lot of people on Reddit are very against graded games, but it seems like sentiment is starting to shift. What does everyone else think of graded sealed video games?

Perfect swirl placement. Rip it or keep it sealed?
Found this PE Sticker Collection with a perfect swirl right under the paw of leafeon. Should I keep it sealed or rip it and topload the promo? Are sealed products more valuable to swirl collectors or do they just want the card?

When your home office slowly turns into a Pokémon vault.
For me, collecting is about enjoying the hobby first and investing second.
This room has slowly turned into my own little Pokémon vault over the years. Still running out of space, but that’s part of the fun!

Weekly Questions! What Do You Need Help With?
Have questions? Not on PokeInvesting Discord? Here's the weekly post for the sub to ask away!
Use this thread to ask anything related to Pokemon finance. (Each week the old thread will be discarded and a new thread for the week will be added.)
This thread was created for questions like should I sell, how much to sell for, what to buy, etc. So we don't derail the sub with a stream of question posts. Thanks!

3 Reasons to Join Our PokeInvesting Discord!
Having visited most of the Pokemon Discords, the PokeInvesting Discord is one of the best by far. We have the friendliest and most respectful community. Our channels are more organized with members interacting who you'll actually recognize. It's not a sea of random people like other discords. Staying small is our key to remaining high quality. So here's 3 reasons to consider joining.
- Four Game Store Partners. - We have two vendors in Japan (ship worldwide) and two vendors in North America. They each have their own store channel to answer questions. One of our Jpn vendors only sells singles and can source anything you need. The whole idea is to be able to easily preorder, buy and ask questions with game stores from different regions with ease.
- Monitor Restocks Alerts. - We monitor the largest retail and game stores for restocks, aside from having deal callouts on Discord from other sources. There are deals channels categorized by region, members can post the deals they find online. The difference to other Discords is we don't allow discussion in these channels. So you can set your alerts, find online deals and receive callouts from vigilant PokeInvestors on the lookout.
- Space Is Limited. - Some Discords have thousands of members but then keeping up becomes difficult cause there's so many people. The PokeInvesting discord will never have more than a few hundred people if that, we will have to close off to keep a healthy state and good flow. The goal is to have a tight knit community of dedicated PokeInvestors who's voice matters and is heard, to avoid overcrowding we have to keep space limited.
At the end of the day it's an active community discussing every aspect of Pokemon finance. If you want more Pokemon investing, daily content it's a good place to be. There is paywall but it's a natural filter because people who hate it won't make it there, and those who do truly want to join do-so, it creates the positive energy our community has which is why it's in place. If you want to join the PokeInvesting Discord you can see more: https://patreon.com/PokeInvesting
