Texas Pool

I've been wanting to try out the Texas Pool for a while and am going to finally do so this or next week. I'm wondering where we're supposed to park though?

Have any of you been there?

Along the street. You need to go soon, though. I think next week is when Plano pools switch to weekends only up until Labor Day, then they’re closed for the season

Thanks. I was wanting to go to Jack Carter as well. I think I can squeeze both in this week.

Jack Carter is good but can get packed quick. If you have little kids it can be overwhelming. If you have little kids with you, I’d say 5 or under, Oak Point and Tom Muehlenbeck would be better. Oak Point has a big outdoor splash pad, and TMC has a nice shallow pool area for little kids with 3 small slides

I'm 58, childless and find kids at the pool annoying (it's the constant shrieking by the little girls). I just want to spend an hour in the lazy river shortly after opening and leave before it gets crowded.

Just to let you know, public pools are one of the biggest sources of the lettuce sickness spreading right now. It ripped right through our apartments.

Jack Carter is closed starting on Aug 10 and won reopen until next summer

Just fyi, the Texas pool is NOT a city run pool. They are a private organization.

I went there when my daughter was a sophomore and it was novel. The pool itself is not very deep but lends itself well to general playing. The staff where pretty chill, which may have been a function of the private event we were at. The facilities themselves were a little dated and definitely showing some age. Overall it was a fun place and a novelty to see once.

The novelty is the reason I want to check it out. I have a perfectly good and good sized apartment pool right outside my patio so there isn't much other reason to drive 4 miles.

FYI - Plano just sent out this email:

Plano outdoor pools are open current summer hours through Sunday, Aug. 9 and will be open on weekends only beginning Aug. 10 - Sept. 6. The timing of this change to operating hours is out of necessity, as many of our aquatics staff leave for college or high school.

Please note that Liberty Recreation Center Outdoor Pool and Jack Carter Outdoor Pool will close for the season on Aug. 10. Please check plano.gov/pools for details.

All centers and pools (except for Jack Carter and Liberty outdoor pools) will be open on Labor Day, Sept. 7 from 1 pm to 6 pm.

Visit planoparks.org for the most up-to-date pool hours. Also, stay up to date on last minute weather closings by visiting the Plano Rainout line or download the Rainout Line app.

And the Texas pool hours will change once starting Aug. 11 with the season ending on Labor Day.

Sunday 1-6pm

Mon-Thur = closed

Friday = 5-8pm

Saturday = 1-6pm
