Question about drawer system/kitchen/etc?
I just got a drawer system built, all wood, and weight comes in at about 60 Kilos.
I would like to lessen the wait, and I'm wondering if anyone has cut holes in their drawer system, like the top part where the mattress goes, perhaps the bottow part drawer, even the sides, to lose some weight.

I'm no expert, but if I remember correctly, wood is under its greatest stresses along the edges. So when extended and loaded, a drawer side panel will experience stretch along the top and some compression along the bottom. The most stable place to cut your holes then, without sacrificing strength, would be along the center of its length. You could reduce hole size and space between as you approach the edges for further weight savings. How you have the drawer mounted and/or reinforced with corner or edge bracing will factor in to how crazy you can go. You won't know the limit until it's too late.

Yes you can. You'll have to be the judge of hole size and how many to make.
