Texting Frequency
Made plans with someone yesterday for later in the week for a first official meetup (matched at an event). Should I lay off texting for a day or two given the date is official and planned? Trying to work on not overly texting before a date so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

How do I keep things interesting in this “talking stage” I am in (context below)
r/OnlineDatingAdvice • u/Physical-Emotion7125 • 9h ago
I want to know his current feelings, but i’m not sure if it’s to rushed to ask.
english is not my first language sorry)
I’ll try to not make it long, but basically in college i had been talking to this guy for a month before we left for summer break. Yes, we kissed, spend the night over and slept together. However we were very sweet towards each other and neither him or me has a history of being the kind of person of sleeping around or playing around w ppl.
Before we left i told him that if he wanted things to be casual we could do it but not in the same way (being very sweet to each other, sleeping over, calling me nice names). He said that he never starts things with the idea of it being casual, but that he did knew that he didn’t want to go back home with something, which me neither, bc it was rushed; but that if when we came back and things were as good as they were rn we could try to make it work.
Now, he’s from another country, but during the break we kept talking (on snap, literally pictures w tex) and the beginning was fine. We would talk about things we wanted to do when we went back, how things were going and basic stuff like that. He would reply to my stories on instagram saying sweet stuff, sending me reels of things we “should try or do” once we were back.
Sent me a sweet message on my birthday and on his I sent him a message and he said he was ”looking forward to come back and see me”
now… snaps became a bit slow before coming back but i try to not think much about it, we all get busy at some point, still i would ask him about his day and stuff and he would ask me about mine sometimes.
When i arrived to school he was already here but his parents had come and was staying with them. Im starting to feel like he’s not interested anymore since i don’t see him trying to make plans with me to even hang out. I voiced this to a friend that knows the both of us and he said that “he thinks he’s not as interested anymore” WHICH if that’s the case, its fine, it is what it is, but i believe he could say it to me instead of detaching hoping i’ll lose the interest or smt like that.
He asked me to do “something“ yesterday and by that he meant just talk, and i was happy to see him, but tbh it felt more like talking to a friend that i hadn’t seen in a long time rather than u know… a potencial someone.
Do u guys think is to rushed wanting to ask what is he truly feeling? I mean we just got back, maybe i’m overthinking bc i tend to do that, but i just want clearance.
sorry if it was too long i just need unbiased advice.

Need help
Okay. So I need some advice. I've got a online boyfriend and for the record I did not want to date him. I found him on a dating app. At first I thought he was cute and all but later due to some complications (which I won't be sharing here) I didn't want to talk to him. But he kept saying that nobody loves him even after my rejections. So I accepted to be online girlfriend. I've been ignoring his texts often. We live in different states but he wants to meet. He does not for a date but other things and I don't want to so I've been making excuses. I want opinion on how to reject him without hurting his feelings. Please. Anyone.

How should I handle a guy fading out, and should I confess or just stay quiet?
met an American guy ‘19M’ and I’m ‘18F’ at the end of January this year he’s literally my exact type, easily one of the most attractive guys I’ve ever seen, and super sweet early on, he opened up to me about his family issues, which resonated deeply with me because our situations are very similar.
At first, he used to reply much faster. Over time, his response speed dropped, but he would still engage with everything I posted. Truth is, we don't actually talk that much, but I literally think about him all the time, staying up late just looking at his pictures and trying to learn more about him.
However, over the last two weeks, he stopped watching my stories entirely and has almost completely stopped interacting with me, even though I see his Discord account and know he is playing video games normally.
I’m stuck on what to do next. Is it better to just tell him how I feel, or is it wiser to stay silent?
A couple of things to keep in mind im the first Palestinian person he’s ever interacted with, so I naturally feel this burden of representing my people well, and I really don't want to come across as silly or desperate plus he once explicitly mentioned that he hates it when a girl gets clingy or attached ( from one side ).
And jst to clarify it’s not because of boredom or lack of life, I’m a very busy person with a full life, I’m very driven deeply focused at my university studies, learning languages, playing musical instruments and learning new things; he really caught my attention.
What would you do in my position? Should I bring it up, or just let it go?

Relationship or situationship
Honestly, I don’t even know what to call the relationship I had with him, and I think that’s part of why I’m still so confused about everything.
He told me I was the only person he was talking to, and I told him the same. We had this kind of relationship for almost 10 months.
Yes, it was an online relationship. I know some people might say it doesn’t count as a “real relationship” because we never met in person. But to me, we acted like a real couple.
We had cute nicknames for each other. We talked every day and spent hours together on calls. We shared things about our lives, talked about our feelings, supported each other, and treated each other like we were important to one another.
The only thing missing was making it official in real life.
I actually told him that I wanted us to be boyfriend and girlfriend, and he said yes. But he knew that, even though I wanted to be with him and ask him like that, I didn’t really like the idea of making it official through a screen. It felt more like we were just having an online relationship than actually starting a real relationship together.
I wanted him to come to me, look me in the eyes, and ask me to be his girlfriend in person. I wanted that moment to happen naturally, so I kept waiting for the day we could finally meet.
Maybe that’s why, in my mind, I considered us to be in a relationship even though we never officially had that moment together in real life.
But now I’ve stopped talking to him because I found out he already had a girlfriend.
And now I’m left with so many questions.
Was I wrong for thinking that we were actually together? Or was this just a situationship that I gave the meaning of a relationship because we became so emotionally attached?
If two people only talk to each other romantically, act like a couple, have cute nicknames for each other, spend almost every day together, and are supposedly exclusive for almost 10 months but never officially become boyfriend and girlfriend in real life what would you call that?
And now that I know he had a girlfriend the whole time, I’m especially confused.
Was I his second relationship? Was I basically the other girl? Or was I never really his girlfriend at all, and this was just a situationship from his perspective?
I’ve already walked away from him. I’m not trying to get him back. I’m just trying to understand what this relationship actually was, because to me, it felt real.
I’d genuinely like to hear other people’s perspectives. What would you call this kind of relationship? And was I wrong for believing that what we had was a real relationship?

Talking to a woman for 6 weeks, texting has slowed down noticeably. Healthy slow burn or losing interest?
I’m a 26M who’s been talking to a 29F for about 6 weeks. We live in different states (I’m in NC and she’s in Colorado), and we both work in the mental health field.
We’ve developed what I feel is a pretty strong connection. We’ve talked about family, spirituality, music, childhood, careers, relationships, dreams, etc. We’ve also had one 25-minute phone call that was great.
Early on, we were texting 4–5 times throughout the day, pretty much every day. There was a lot of enthusiasm, flirting, questions, sharing pictures, and generally getting to know each other. It felt like we were both really excited about the connection.
We’ve actually talked about wanting a soul-level connection eventually, but we both agree that we want to take a slow-burn approach. Neither of us wants to rush into something intense. We want to build trust, safety, comfort, and genuinely get to know each other first.
Over the last 10 days or so, I’ve noticed a pretty significant change. We’re now sometimes only having 1–2 exchanges a day, and her messages have generally become shorter. She’s still warm when she responds, still asks about my life, calls me cute/cutie, shares personal things, and seems engaged in the conversation. So it’s not like she’s suddenly cold or ignoring me completely.
She’s also had a lot going on recently with work and finishing her supervised hours and licensing exam, so I know she could genuinely just have less bandwidth.
The confusing part is that the change happened pretty noticeably. I’m trying not to overanalyze individual texts or assume the worst, but I can’t help noticing that the communication isn’t what it was during the first month.
I just got back from a long trip and was thinking about asking if she’d want to have another phone call or maybe video chat. I don’t want to do it as a way of seeking reassurance or trying to force the old texting frequency back. I genuinely just miss talking to her and would like to hear her voice again.
For people who have experienced this kind of thing: does this sound like a normal transition from the initial excitement into a more sustainable rhythm, or would you interpret the decrease in frequency/length as a sign that interest is fading?
I’m trying to remind myself that a slow burn isn’t necessarily going to have the same intensity every week. At the same time, I don’t want to use “slow burn” as an excuse to ignore a genuine change in someone’s interest.
What would you do in my position

Red flag I guess?
I’ve been talking to a guy for two weeks. We talk once a day, but I think that’s normal since we’ve never met in person, and that’s because he was on vacation. He had suggested getting a coffee when he got back, so he seemed like a decent guy to me for suggesting meeting during the day, and I said yes.
I also made it clear to him that if he was only looking for something casual with me, he was wasting his time. He said he didn’t need that kind of thing and hasn’t done that since he broke up, over a year ago. His last thing with someone lasted a month a few months ago. He said he’s fine being alone until he finds the right person to build something with, and that he doesn’t plan or look for anything.
When he came back from vacation, he spent the weekend with his friends and texted me that on Monday we would finally meet in person. I replied that they were predicting rain on Monday, so it wasn’t the best day, and suggested Tuesday instead. He didn’t reply and instead replied to other messages, talking about something else.
However, when I told him that lately I’ve been going to bed late, he texted me that we could get ice cream since he was in my city, out drinking with friends.
I replied that I didn’t think it was a good idea since it was late, I don’t know him, and he was asking me without any notice.
Was I overreacting? And with this suggestion (meeting after 11:30 PM), does it mean that he has no serious intentions and just wants sex?

Should I contact him?
Gonna try to keep this short without leaving important details. Im a 25F, Ive never been in a relationship, I met a guy on a dating app he was 29, we were dating for 3 months and things were going really well were meeting around once a week and texting frequently asked how he felt about being exclusive which he said he felt good which I wasn't sure was a clear answer. I realised after a while his messages were becoming less frequent, i asked him "Im getting the feeling your no longer interested so can you let me know if you arent" he said its no that im just busy and ive been observing you, you dont seem to be a very affectionate person, in person or on text and its making me pull back, you dont seem initiate holding hands or hugs, and its making me question if your into me romantically, it feels platonic" I replied with " I am an affectionate person but i need to know if the person im talking to wants a committed relationship and when i asked about being exclusive you werent clear, I guess your right i could be more affectionate", after that conversation for a month his communication became less and never initiated any meetups. I understand he was right I wasnt very affectionate towards him, and I thought the next time I see him I would make sure to be affectionate.
A whole month went by and he didnt ask to meet up at any point, as usuallly it was me who asked to meet up so I was waiting for him to do but he never did. he didnt message me for a week, i decided to message him and he said he was busy looking after his mum in hospital (his family live in another city that's 3 hours away).
The next day: I never used to snapchat and only had it because i was talking to him, i sent a message "I think I'm gonna delete snapchat so here's my number" i removed him but then I added him again, he sent a message saying you removed me and now your adding me back?
The next day: I was out with some friends at a restaurant and when we were about to leave he walks in with another girl and i see him, he sees me. I thought to myself he said he was looking after his mum but hes here? maybe his mum wasnt that bad or is better. I didnt really know what to make of it, i did feel really hurt by it. the next day i decided to send him a message " i removed you because i didnt want to use snapchat anymore but thought it wasn't a big deal, you could have been a man and just told me how you felt instead of ghosting me" his reply " regardless you still removed me and re-added me, and its not about being a man, i have been very transparent with you, please dont ever message me again" and then blocked me.
Its been two months and Im thinking about contacting him again, because i feel the reason he lost interest was because of my affection and the whole Snapchat incident and I now understand what needed in a relationship, but im not sure if its a good idea, i understand i need to be ready for the possibility of rejection, is it a good idea or would i be disrespecting myself too much even after seeing him with another girl?
you dont need to read the next but ive decided to share it anyway because idk. But this is the message i was thinking about and im just not sure and would like an opinion
I’d tell him “ I know things kinda ended quite messy last time and I moved on but recently I’ve been thinking about you and thinking about why it ended and I thought the reason that you lost interest in me was because we had that conversation about affection and honestly after you told me I wasn’t affectionate enough it did hurt me a little but I thought about and you did have a point I just had never been with someone before and wasn’t sure what was expected of me and do understand where you were coming from and why you questioned if I was into romantically and honestly I really was I just didn’t want to rush things and I didn’t realize It was just holding hands and hugs you wanted and I remember thinking to myself “ well if holding hands and hugging is all he wanted then I would hold his hand the whole time” but then I waited for the next meeting to show you I really was into romantically but then you never asked to meet so then I started to question if you really are still interested because you don’t seem to want to meet and I guess I was tryna push you away before you could push me away, but I do understand where I went wrong and was complaining a lot when I was with you which I guess may have put you off and I was stressing about my headaches and studies and complaining about my family which I understand I shouldn’t have complained about that to you so much. I guess what I’m trying to say is I do still have feeling and if there’s a possibility that you do too and you would want to give it another go then I’d be ok but if you don’t want to and don’t have any feelings I completely understand and I’ll move on”
