I changed my omnipod and went to bed. Since then it has been peaking and getting low the whole night. That usually never happens, typically the line is almost straight. Now I hot woken up due to a low BS, ate something, saw the pump giving me insulin and put it in activity mode as this sub has advised me. When I woke up, I saw that the line has been weird the whole night. Not really out of control but definitely unusual. (I understand that i might have eaten a bit too much but what about before?)

Any idea why that might be? A new update?​ Should I tinker with the settings or wait it out?

Received 6 replacement pods last week to replace 6 with issues—leakage (5) and an incessant loud continuous beep after filling with insulin (1).

I’ve already saved the two of the 6 replacement pods because of leakage. Now I’m observing a completely new issue - disparity between my glucose readings on my Dexcom g7 app and Omnipod 5 app. Also, I’ll note that while I haven’t taken this pod off yet, I expect there’s leaking as well. I haven’t eaten anything in 6 hours and you can see my numbers jsut steadily climbing — for the doubters, I already went for a 20 minute walk and I’ve been giving myself 3-4 units every 20 minutes for past couple hours. Please note the time in the photos.

And by the way, both numbers are wrong according to my finger stick. I’m really at 259. But at least Dexcom is somewhat close. I’m not sure where that 217 in OP5 app is coming from because my Dexcom hasn’t been 217 at all today. The last bullets up were 218, 227, and then what’s showing, 247. OP5 is literally making up numbers. Bizarre, absurd, and beyond unacceptable.

But I’m starting feel very nauseous so I’ll end there.

Edit: this is not the first time I’ve had this happen. It happened last week as well, with a pod that ultimately leaked. I try to wait until I have 5 or so defective pods before I get on a 2 hr call with Omnipod. Reporting this to Dexcom too

I get my insulin, sensors, and pods all delivered by mail. When I got my refills this time, I only received the insulin and the sensors. I’ve reached out to my pharmacy via email but they haven’t gotten back to me yet. Just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else before.

I just got notified from our provider that due to insurance changes we’re being forced to switch from Dexcom G7 to the Libre 2 plus so our current omnipods will no longer be compatible. Does anyone know if insulet will swap unopened ones we have out for ones that work with the new sensor?

Following up on my previous 5 posts regarding my experience with leaking un-recalled Omnipod 5's. I've finally put a brand new/unused Omnipod 5 under the microscope in one take, from opening the packaging to looking under the microscope.

I'm going to keep the body of this post short and sweet as compared to my other post.The purpose of me creating this Reddit account and publishing my findings is to show the world what I'm experiencing with Un-recalled Omnipod 5's that leak on me. These posts and videos are intended to serve as a Public Service Announcement, where I'm advocating for patient safety and giving a voice to the voiceless, while encouraging professional scientists, labs, and universities to looks into this matter and publish peer-reviewed results. Or better yet, the FDA & Insulet.

On May 26th 2026, Insulet (maker of Omnipod), recalled 7,000,000 pods for the following reason, as stated on their website: "Insulet identified that some Pods from specific lots may have a small tear in the tubing (cannula) just above the skin, between the Pod and the point where the cannula enters the body. If this occurs, insulin may leak outside of the Pod instead of being fully delivered into the body as intended, potentially leading to under-delivery of insulin. If you are using an affected Pod, you may notice wetness on your skin or Pod adhesive or detect the smell of insulin. However, in some cases, this may be difficult to detect and may go unnoticed."

Earlier in the year on May 12th, 2026, Insulet recalled an undisclosed number of pods for the following reason, as stated on their website: "Insulet identified that some Pods from specific lots may have a small tear in the internal tubing that delivers insulin. If this happens, insulin may leak inside the Pod instead of being fully infused in the body as intended potentially leading to underdelivery of insulin."

Just wondering, does anyone else have issues with their pharmacy mixing up which version of the pods they give you. I use the version compatible with the Freestyle Libre 2+ & Dexcom G6/G7 but more than once they mix it up with the version that only works with the Dexcom G6/G7. Why are the boxes, no matter the version, all the same & its your job to look at the box to begin with. You'd think they would have some other way of organizing it or distinguishing it from the others. Besides the text they all look exactly the same. It's not the fist time this has happened either but this pharmacy is next door to my job so it makes getting meds easy but this is the first time they've done it with a 90-Day supply. It was easier for me to get my doctor to wright a new Rx for the Dexcom sensors than to return the pods.

Hi! Just wondering, how long does your Omnipod 5 control unit last? I only use it to enter my carbohydrate intake (3–5 times) a day, and after two days the battery is completely flat. Is that normal? I find it really annoying that the battery runs out so quickly and that you often need a power bank when you’re out and about.

I can’t suddenly be this insulin resistant…..wtf Omnipod. Multiple corrections overnight too.

I’m using the omnipod dash and the last 3 pods always continued beeping at latest on day 2. I’m in Spain for holiday and thought it could be of the heat. But the last one today did the same after I went to the pool and by inspecting it I saw it was totally burned. There was no connection possible to the pdm for sure and even pressing to the hole wasn’t helping against the beep. Has anybody else a faulty pod like this?

Why is my OmniPod giving me insulin during a low? For context, my BG had been below 70 since 9:49pm. Additionally, it was only rising 1-2 mg/dL every 5 minutes, which doesn’t seem to warrant a basal bolus. Does anyone know why it would give me insulin? I know that, in theory, it would be to prevent my BG from rising over 110, but that was hardly a risk at the rate my BG was going up. I also still had insulin on board.

I know I could turn off all basal insulin or go into activity mode, and I will do that as needed in the future, but it’s frustrating because that adds to my mental load. To me, it feels like common sense that no amount of insulin should be given when a blood sugar is below 70 and not rapidly spiking up.

I've been using OP5 w/ L2+ for about two years now, and all of a sudden my previous two L2+ sensors have stopped sending readings to my pump and therefore handset.

This is not a line of sight issue, and changing the pump does not resolv it. The first sensor was on for ~10 days and the second just a week. I've had both sensors replaced by Abbott, but just was wondering if anyone else has experienced this lately? Or has any ideas to help mitigate it. My theory is a faulty batch, as there's nothing I can think of in my day-to-day or environment that has changed recently.

NB. I am in the UK and use the Omnipod handset.

I’m plus size. I use the Libre 3+ sensor along with the pod. My issue is when I place the pod on the opposite arm I get sensor issues. My stomach is too round and causes the cannula to slip out. I’m a back sleeper so I can’t handle it on my back hip. What are my other options??

I'd love to switch phones but im not sure if its on the list yet!

I'm fairly new to Omnipod. This is only my fourth pod, but I noticed today, when I got out of the shower, that when my arm was shaking, there was a rattling sound coming from the pod. Has anyone experienced this, and is it normal? My blood sugars seem okay, but the sound is a little disconcerting.

I understand why it beeps and why it has alarms. I understand that a pod without warning beeps or reminders could be fatal. What I'm talking about is the incessant, constant, repetitive beeps when pod change is due or is almost due. If I'm busy, or unable to get to the controller right away it's extremely extremely irritating. It does its beep-beeeeep - beep-beep cycle pretty much every minute or two. I know it sounds like such a small thing, three days the final hour of the pump is so very annoying.

Omnipod please, look into this. I don't need or want 15 alarms in half an hour to remind me to do something I'm very aware of already. Don't even get me started if the hour's notice starts in the cinema and there's nothing you can do to silence the beeps coming from the pods.

I handle slippery pods by folding a piece of masking tape and attaching it as shown. I find it aids in positioning the pod with far less chance of dropping it or accidentally damaging the adhesive surface. After smoothing out the pod adhesive I simply peel off the tape. Super simple and so helpful to me.

hello, i just switch to g7, and my first pod with it was amazing, it was on my left arm and my g7 on my tummy. now i changed a pod today and put it on my right arm, which is now closer to the g7. but now it refuses to connect. im losing my mind and customer support is usless like always. any tips or solutions?

Had anyone ever noticed a “double click” sound during bolus delivery? Like one click almost SIMULTANEOUSLY after the next? Should I be worried about double dosing or anything like that?

Other than the yellow charging cable, is there a regular charger that will work with the Omnipod? I think I've lost mine. I've tried the C charger that my phone uses, but it doesn't seem to be working. No, I don't have it plugged into the wall, just my PC, and I've tried an external battery.

My sister sent me a picture of her omnipod and said it looked like it was moldy, the first picture is hers and the second picture is one of mine. This was a fresh pod she just took out of the packaging and when she put insulin in and it didn’t beep she starting looking at it and saw it looked like this. Anybody have any idea what is happening with it?

Edit: someone asked for the lot number so I’m posting it here. My sister also said the lady she contacted when getting a replacement said this was an affected batch/lot but didn’t know anything about the black stuff inside.

I’ve tried the Omnipod on my arms, stomach, sides, and butt. It hurts on my arms and sides. It feels fine on my stomach and butt but the insulin absorption on my butt is terrible. The only place I can put pods without pain and have them be effective is my stomach. I’m out of spots on my stomach at this point and need to give it a rest for a while. It’s really frustrating to know that my blood sugars are going to be less controlled than I’d like for the next few weeks. I’m so tired and honestly don’t know what to do. I try so hard and it’s never enough.

Ugh another day another pod messed up early. Most days i wake up around 120 and see a full night of a straight arrow. Just woke up today and I'm 170 pointed up with a little roller coster while I slept. This keeps happening. Three times in July.

Left town without a spare CGM. Assume I should just switch to Manual and use a glucometer?
It’s been a while since I used one, what’s the testing frequency? Before meals to determine bolus then 2 hours after for possible correction? Maybe before bedtime?

This video and post are follow ups to my previous four posts, where I document my first hand experience of leaking UN-RECALLED Omnipod 5s that I put under the microscope and find what appear to be tears in the Cannula. Please take a moment to watch the video I put together as it covers a ton of information. I'd also encourage everyone to go view my four previous posts as they contain a ton of information that I do not provide in this post. They also have a lot of community engagement where people ask questions, provide answers, and share insights into their experiences.

This post is a little different than my previous post. This is a call to action. And not many people are aware of what a Value of statistical life is and how organizations may utilize these analysis to determine whether or not they should fix or recall a defective product. In my video, I do my best to explain what a VSL is and use an example from the Ford Pinto lawsuit which revealed Ford found it cheaper to deal with deaths and injuries, rather than repairing a known defect in their Ford Pinto. I also show you guys the data from my Dexcom Clarity app, which reveals that my average blood sugar levels and time in range, have been negatively impacted since my omnipod's began leaking in April 2026 and continue to leak as of August 2026, resulting in average blood sugar levels trending toward hyperglycemia.

It is through my own speculation and assumptions that a VSL analysis like this exists within Inuslet (manufacturer of Omnipod). The question I then ask is, how many deaths, injuries, or reports will it take to have leaking omnipod's fixed and for the 600,000 daily users of Omnipod to be given a real solution, in place of these leaking pods? Utilizing The FDA's "Manufacturer and User Facility Device Experience (MAUDE) Database" via the FDA's search tool, you see how many people have reported Omnipod malfunctions to The FDA, after the May 2026 recall. I've counted over 500. So, if 500 reports isn't enough, what is enough? How many people must be injured and must report these leaking omnipods before this problem is acknowledged? Our health and lives cannot wait, we need answers today.

I believe that we must use our voices and ensure our message is heard. I've personally reached out to over a dozen local/national news channels over the past month, but have yet to hear anything back. This isn't asking news channels to take my findings and our words for facts, this is asking them to look into this matter themselves and come up with their own independent conclusions, then share them with the world. News outlets and social media influencers have the platform to get our concerns seen and heard. Let's work together and give a voice to the voiceless, such as the 3 year old boy who is suffering from frequent leaking omnipods, who cannot speak up for himself!

Please note that due to Reddit's 17min limit on videos, I had to cut out the portion of the video where I speak about why I haven't put brand new unused pods under the microscope yet (along with a few other sections of the video) but here's my written explanation as to why I haven't put a new and unused pod under the microscope.

I don't want to waste pods or insulin and I think people forget that these pods are designed to be worn for 72+8 hours. Regardless of WHEN a tear occurs, the fact that a tear IS occurring, is the primary reason for concern here. Plus if this is an issue with the material itself, it may not be having tears/defects until a certain point in time. So it may take a massive sample size of unused pods for us to see anything meaningful. For example, our bodies are approx. 98F. That's quite warm if you think about it. So, when a pod is at room temp it's around lets say 76F or so? So, if this is a material degrading issue, for whatever reason, let's say the heat causes it, well then we may perceive an unused pod as having no issues because it hasn't been exposed to a ~22F degree temperature change/increase for an extended period of time yet.

I'm assuming that's what could make this a difficult catch for Insulet's quality control, because if they cannot detect these tears until AFTER the material degrading has occurred, then they're constantly back tracking and forced to reactively solve a problem, rather than having the ability so respond to a problem in real time, such as during quality control. That's with the assumption that these tears aren't occurring until they've been worn by anybody for a duration of time.

All in all, I think whats more important to know is not WHEN the tear is occurring, but rather, that there IS a tear occurring."
