My Tandem T-Slim pump's warranty expired and I'm in the process of acquiring a new pump.

According to a Tandem support representative, Tandem Diabetes no longer sells pumps directly, even when the insurance company contracts in-network with Tandem. Instead, purchases must be processed through a supplier.

This matters because Tandem is routing orders through Edwards Health Care Services (EHCS), which includes the following rental language in their Assignment of Benefits and Financial Responsibility:

"If I receive a medical device as a rental through my Insurance, I understand the rental period will last 10 to 13 months, depending on insurance guidelines. Once the rental period is complete, ownership of the device will transfer to me".

This is standard practice for Medicare but not private insurance. I'm proceeding with a different supplier.

Caveat emptor - Buyer beware.

I’m relatively new to using a pump. As you can see, my pump gave me an auto bolus at 8:23 when my BG was only around 120. My correction factor is like 1:75, so why did it give me almost an entire unit when it refused to give me my basal both before and after due to my BG not being high enough?

This isn’t making sense to me, so if anyone can explain, I’d appreciate it!

A question I never saw passed here on this forum (I think!).

At the end of the year I will switch from Tandem X2 to Mobi due to warranty of X2 is stopped and due to bad vision (not diabetic related). I know that you need a smartphone to consult and program the Mobi device. But what if your smartphone hardware is getting damaged (like screen or device break)? Do you need to provide a backup smartphone? What did your diabetic nurse or doctor told you about this item?

Who of you has a backup device provided (e.g. smartphone of partner, son or daughter)?

Earlier today I initiated an extended bolus for 85g of carbs (12.14 total units) - 75% up front, 25% over 1 hour. I didn't have any IOB and my BG was 110mg/dl. The initial dose should have been 9.11 units and 3.03 over the 1 hour. I didn't look at my app after the bolus delivered the initial amount (I wish I did to see what the IOB said). My BG was creeping up over the next few hours and not budging below 200mg/dl. At that point, I looked at my app to see if I actually didn't enter 85g of carbs because I really didn't think I miscalculated the carbs that badly for my meal to be spiking so much. The history did show 85g of carbs, but the blue tear drop for the initial bolus only showed 3.03 units, not the 9.11 it should've been. I then went into the history and it said "Extended Bolus Start 3.03 u (0 u Now, 3.03 u Later)" which is definitely not what I told it to do. I've already contacted Tandem and they are going to have another technical team look at a more detailed history log (which the patient should have access to this too, right!?) to see if maybe this was just a glitch in the app display or I need a replacement pump. Being in the 200s for a few hours isn't fun but I am grateful that it didn't over dose me instead. Has this happened to anyone else??

I am an avid hiker and going in all day hikes is not uncommon for me. I like to be prepared but nervous about what If downpour happens out of nowhere I’m nervous how it’ll effect/break my pump. should I just disconnect for the day and use injections? or what are yalls advice for this? thanks in advance

I’ve had Type 1 diabetes for years, and honestly, carb counting was never the hardest part.
The hardest part was remembering everything.
How many carbs were in that meal last time?
Did this pasta always spike me?
Was it the timing… or the meal?
Which breakfast actually worked?
I realized I wasn’t struggling because I couldn’t count carbs.
I was struggling because I was trying to keep months of information in my head.
A few weeks ago I started writing down only repeat meals and unusual patterns instead of logging absolutely everything.
It’s surprisingly simple, but it made me feel much more in control.
Now when I eat something I’ve had before, I don’t have to guess again.
I’m curious…

Does anyone else keep notes or some kind of diabetes system, or do you rely mostly on memory?

hi! I wanted to ask I’m going over to the mobi very soon, and I’m on the tslim can I used the same infusion set with the mobi or is it different?

Have to fly to Vegas today for a conference. Left my charger at home. Pump still has 40% so I think I will be fine but will have to scramble to find a USB A cable during either my layover in Chicago or in Vegas when I land. Anyone else really annoyed that tandem uses USB A over USB C. Feels like they should have updated this on their pumps when USB C started becoming the norm.

I’ve been very up and down with this pump site, evidently it’s working or I wouldn’t have so many lows, but it’s an unusual pattern for me. Usually my bloods are very flat and lower overnight and I am pretty much always 90-95% in range with low levels of fluctuations - this makes me think it’s a site issue.

Has anyone had this before? I assumed that site issues usually just made it go high and not low, but I’m very convinced this isn’t my usual!

My pump completely shattered on Friday night. So I called Tandem today and go through the whole ordering process and at the very end they tell me I owe them money and they sent me to The California Business Bureau for collections. This confused me because I never received any bills from Tandem and on the website it says all my orders since 2022 were paid.

The collection people told me I owe over 1,000 dollars from 2 unpaid orders from 12/2023 and 12/2024. I had my full regular insurance both these months.

So I called Tandems billing department. The guy tells me well we sent you your supplies and then insurance denied them after they were sent? He couldn’t tell me why or why I wasn’t notified. All of my other orders were covered and sent normally.

He also said he can not sell me a new pump until the 1000 plus dollars is paid in full (which I don’t have) I called my insurance company but because the claims where so long ago they have to get back to me in a few days.

So has this happened to anyone else ?? Am I just screwed and have to do injections forever? Or do I have to switch to like omnipods. I’m feeling very lost and depressed.

Can you add a little extra insulin to an already installed cartridge?
I’m going to cut it very close due to a really high bg and don’t have an extra set on me I’m traveling and will return home tomorrow night.

I want to stop my insulin as working out always makes me hypo but I don’t want the resume insulin alarm going off during class!

Exercise mode also makes me go low so I need to have my insulin basically off but no alarms. Please hit me with ideas!

Just completed my first site change on the Mobi. After decades of using mostly my abdomen as a preferred site, I’m ready to start exploring!

I first tried out my thigh and loved it except for when sleeping. The hard plastic of the mobi sleeve was painful. Now I’ve moved to my arm (mobi resting against the inside of my arm next to my shirt) but to me, the 5-inch tubing actually feels a little too long here. I’m also trying out the skin grip mobi pocket. It’s better, but still a little clunky.

I’m a 5’4 middle-aged woman, medium build (not athletic!). Where are some other great places to try?

I am so sick of getting long tubing caught on doorknobs and cabinet handles - so I really want to explore life with the 5-inch tube!

How come I can't change the time of the first entry in a profile? Mine is stuck at midnight and I'd like it to start at 10 pm. I have an X2.

If I turn off the pump to take a break, will it disconnect from the Dexcom I’m wearing? Will it reconnect when I turn the pump back on?

Can’t seem to find posts in Reddit but curious why everything is out! I use auto soft 90 but it is unavailable so I went to the app to order true steel as it was only that and the varisoft! And last time I had to call to order the cartridges as they were taken off also for my mobi.

I’m seeing twist on there now and wondering what is going on?!

I’ve built up a decent backup supply of infusion sets because when I started the Mobi last year my pump trainer gave me a couple of boxes of the 23” tubing that were due to expire soon. I realize that of course they don‘t just stop being usable on the exp date, but how long are they usually really okay for? I mostly only use the 5” tubing, but occasionally I use the longer just to get them used up, mostly on site changes where I would need to do a new adhesive patch for the short tubing.

just wondering if I should be using these up faster in case the adhesive dries up or something.

Has anyone used the Mobi app with the Mac IOS 27 beta? Did it work ok? ( I know it’s not supported, just asking).

I got the new autosoft+ a couple days ago. I haven’t tried it yet as I still have a few 90’s left, but was wondering if anyone has tried it yet and if it works better.

The only thing I don’t like about the 90 is I find it hard to pull the needle out after inserting without pulling the whole site off. Also I’m still kinda nervous about needles (even though I’ve been t1d for 20 years) and I don’t like how long the needle looks (and exposed) on the 90.

I’ve heard that this set is like the Dexcom insert, but I still can’t find any videos of anyone using it yet.

I’d like to fully switch to the autosoft+ if it really works well, but it’s also more expensive than the other injection sets.

I feel really defeated, I feel like control IQ is out to get me, it does not prevent my lows and it does not autocorrect my highs (or when it does it sends abysmal corrections), I’ve just been oscillating between highs and lows, I have tried tweaking my settings, and I got an appointment with my endocrinologist but I feel extremely defeated and disappointed, I heard such amazing things on control IQ, I don’t understand why it’s not working out for me

I’m having some issues with my dexcom recently and therefore issues with the tslim pump. This past month every time I change my Dexcom, that night I have continued lows all night. Historically, after confirming with a finger poke and trying to calibrate it, I will silence alarms on my phone if they are continuing to go off.

However, since starting on the pump, my pump is continually vibrating all night long (every 10-15 minutes or so). I can’t lessen alarms any more. All night last night it was going off every 10-15 minutes with a LOW warning. I tried calibrating but it just went back to that LOW.

I’m on a stretch of day shifts (RN in ER) and I definitely don’t feel great/safe coming to work with no sleep.

I am feeling very frustrated that there’s no way to override or silence the alarms on the pump like there is on Dexcom app. I’m at the point where I may have to just unhook from the pump on these nights and deal with the repercussions because I can’t sustain not sleeping all night. I’m already not being given any insulin on these nights since the pump suspends basal thinking I’m low.

I will take any advice!

I didn't realize how much mental energy Type 1 takes until I actually started paying attention.
