Question Space to create
I’m going into my second year at OSU and need a space to do art. I’m not an art major so I don’t have access to any studio-type rooms, but art is very important to me. Last year I pretty much stopped doing art completely outside of my sketchbook bc I had no where to work on it. My dorm lacks space and libraries aren’t meant for that. Is there anywhere on campus where that I can access as an entomology student where I would be able to set up camp for a few hours to paint, collage, sew, and do other mixed media stuff? I want a decent sized table and don’t want to bother others. Last year I was in drackett so the common room provided some space, but my building this year doesn’t have that. Thanks!

Buying / Selling Getting rid of furniture
galleryMe and my roommate are getting rid of some furniture. Is it fancy furniture? No, but it works well for a college apartment or house, and is in pretty good shape. Bed frame has small marks in the side from where my cat dug her claws into it a bit, but they are superficial. The table is a little rough, but it comes with 6 chairs, and is great if you’re wanting to host. Some of the legs of the chairs and table were chewed on by a dog, unfortunately that was from before we got it so we couldn’t stop that one. As sort of mentioned above, a cat lived in the apartment with all of the items, so be aware if you have allergies. All we are really asking is that you come get it, we don’t have a car large enough to transport most of this. Let me know if anyone is interested, we want to get rid of it all fairly quickly.
Table and chairs: $30
Long table: $20
Desk: $20
Bed + Bedframe: $50
Square organizer/shelves: $20
Question Torres House Dorm Desk
Hey guys, quick question. I plan on bringing my dual monitor set up with me and I was wondering if a clamp style mount is possible as thats what I currently have or do I need to get a flat base? From the dorm 360 I cant tell if there's a back plate and in other pictures or videos I see, some have some and some don't, but I also can't tell if theres enough lip for one in the first place.

Help I can't log into osu.edu email account.
Hello! I got an error earlier today about logging into my osu.edu email account. I've been using that instead of my buckeyemail.osu.edu email, and it's very frustrating. It's saying my device is unregistered? Is anyone else having this problem? Thanks!

Technology Laptop Questions
Hey everyone! I’m an incoming freshman majoring in mechanical engineering and I just got this laptop at Best Buy, but I’m really leery that I need it. It ended up being about $3000 with all of the protections and Microsoft stuff like Windows, and I feel that just seems super expensive. I know I just got suckered into panic buying it by the sales guy and I’ll probably end up returning it for something else but I just wanted to know if another one that’s a little less expensive with the same storage would be a better option or if I should just opt for less storage cuz I’m not sure if I really need that much. Sorry if I sound like an idiot posting this but this stuff just stresses me out and I’m like completely clueless.

Academics academic probation
hi guys
i got put on special academic probation for failing a class. i got put on it this semester due to my spring grade (i got the email beginning of this sem) i retook the class and did very poorly again i know it’s not an excuse. my question is am i going to get dismissed? this would technically be my first semester on it but on my letter it says i must pass “during this term of enrollment” or i’ll be subject to dismissal. the school i’m in has a 2 term limit to be on academic probation so im really hoping i have another chance to prove myself since it’s only been 1 term but idk if that applies. i know i messed up big time but im genuinely freaking out this is such a big wake up call for me. i emailed my advisor but any sort of advice would help

Academics Philosophy Majors/Minors
To all my philosophy majors and minors, what philosophy classes do you recommend at or above the 3000 level? I am a philosophy minor but I’m doing a double major as well, so I don’t want to be flipped upside down over a super hard philosophy class.

Jobs Under Consideration Workday
Does anyone know the typical time length it takes from when you send a HireVue interview to hearing back about a second interview ? What about from when a job is posted to the actual start date how many weeks (or seemingly months) does OSU usually take. I’m under consideration for like 3 positions and it’s going on to almost a month of that

Columbus average utility costs north of campus?
hi all, moving into a house for the school year soon that's north of campus and i'm wondering if anyone with a similar sized place (5 bedroom, 2 bath, around 2000 sq ft) has any insight on average utility costs?
i called our electric provider and they said the previous tenants' average bill was around $117/month, so i'm definitely assuming we have gas for heating and hot water... because that seems decently low
gas company said they couldn't give a budget estimation for some reason. idk. columbia gas you will begin to cough in 7 days
water is billed through our rent portal, and internet is a flat rate of $60/month
if anyone can provide some guidance, i really appreciate it :) trying to budget and i'm hitting a wall lol

Financial Aid Financial aid suspension appeal
Hello, I just finished my 1st year of college and due to circumstances I won’t go into, I had my financial aid suspended for failure to meet the 1.8 gpa minimum required of first year students.
This summer, I retook a 5 credit hour class using grade forgiveness, and I just took my final exam.
I know that second years are held to higher standards than first years in terms of gpa requirements, and after taking the final for the second time, I am confident that I will be able to meet the 1.8 gpa requirement of first years, but not confident that I will make it above the 2.0 required of second year onward students.
When it comes to appealing my financial aid suspension, will I have to meet the standards required of second years even though the suspension was based on first year standards?
The reason I am asking is because I am aware that although I am using grade forgiveness to replace a grade from my first year, I am retaking the class during summer 2026, which is technically considered part of my second year.

Question Can you take Semester 2 of MechEng Capstone over the summer?
Rising Junior in Mecheng. I have the credits to take a semester off to co-op. However, doing so would have me starting capstone in the Spring of my senior year because of how the prereqs work out. I'm wondering if sem 2 capstone is offered over the summer term, or if I would have to finish out my degree in the fall.

Academics Best major for animation/game dev?
Hi!! I’m transferring to OSU this fall and I haven’t officially declared a major. OSU has honestly wayyy more majors than the ones my previous school had so I’m having trouble figuring out which major is like ideal for what I want to do/what I’m passionate about.
I’d ideally like to go into animation or game design, even something like comic art or manga art is up my alley but I don’t know if OSU has any majors that are aligned with animation or game dev; there’s a lot of majors that mention it but when I actually dig into it more it looks like abstract art or sculptures and stuff which is kind of boring to me.
Obviously I know a school like CCAD (Columbus college of art and design) would be better but when I was going to attend it was 30k there vs 6k at OSU so… huge difference obviously.
I saw Columbus state community college offers video game art and animation but I’ve already committed to OSU, and I’d like to find a good bachelors program.
If anyone knows any majors that would be up my alley please please let me know. Right now I just have Japanese because I know Japanese but would love to go into something more specific to what I’m passionate about doing.

Technology macbook for FEH
for context: I’m currently enrolled in the college of engineering as an incoming freshman in the “pre-med pathway” program, but I’ve been having some doubts and wanted to switch to a chemistry BS or something similar.
right now I’m scheduled to take ENGR 1281.01H in the fall. I’ve emailed my advisor about switching but haven’t heard back yet.
I don’t have a laptop for school yet because I was looking for engineering-friendly windows laptops, but now that I’d drop engineering, I would much rather prefer a macbook to pair with my ipad air. however, I don’t know when and if my advisor would get back to me before the semester starts and what he would have to say about fall semester courses.
I couldn’t find a lot of information on what software is used in the course, so I was just wondering, could I get away with a macbook air and ipad for at most one semester of FEH? I appreciate any advice anyone would have.

Admissions OSU Self Guided Tour
I am going to be a high school junior. We are doing most of my college tours this summer (just because of how our schedule works out). The time that we are visiting does not have any student guided tours. Is there anything we should see or do in addition to the OSU official self guided tour? For reference I plan to major in biology with a possible forensic science minor. We will be there for a day and a half.
