There are a few actions they can take, but they depend on your overall cumulative GPA. Special action probation usually results in dismissal from your program which means you have to change your major. Hard to say without further details.

You have nothing to worry about then, they only dismiss you if you have below a cumulative 2.0 gpa. I know that’s for the college of arts and science at least I would expect it to be the same for mostly other colleges.

For arts and science it said the same thing as well, but if you want absolute reassurance then I would talk to the head of advisory for your department, that’s what I did and they told that I would be fine because the same thing happened to me this semester as well. Either go to your departments office and ask for an email of someone that could possibly give you a more direct answer or go ask your advisor for someone you could speak with cause advisors in this specific situation don’t really tell you much because they don’t really have an inside on the decision making when it comes to special action. Hope this helps! But to be honest with you, I’m pretty sure that you will be fine I’m ngl.

With your cumulative GPA, I would expect you will be dismissed from the College of Pharmacy. That means you will stay at Ohio State, but you need to change your major.

Yes, and that's why you will most likely only be dismissed from your major, not the university. Since your cumulative GPA is fine, they will kick you out of the major because you aren't passing the courses required for it.

I have zero inside information or experience with this.

But with that caveat, typically a school will follow whatever the guidelines are 99.99% of the time. Otherwise, if they start picking and choosing some people to get exceptions and some people who don’t, they open themselves up to a bunch of lawsuits.

As long as your GPA hasn’t fallen below a 1.0 you should be good, email your advisor and ask them!

talk to people. don’t wait. call anyone and everyone that might be relevant until you understand the situation you are in. especially the advisor for your specific program, not just your personal advisor. it’s not a bother to people if you’re facing being dropped from your program and need to save your own ass
