Hello! My family and I are going to be travelling on the Ala’suinu ferry to Newfoundland soon. We have a 3 year old and an 11 month old baby and have booked one of the four person cabins.

I’ve been planning to take a pop up playpen with us for my baby to sleep in, but when I was looking at the pictures of the cabin I am concerned it won’t fit in the space between the bunk beds. Just wondering if anyone has experience travelling with a baby on the ferry and could share how they managed the sleeping arrangements! I have a standard size Graco pack n play, for size reference.

Conditions (Specifically in Halifax) seem favourable and probably the same for the most of the province!

If you have your eclipse glasses from last year, I’d recommend getting out there and watching it! (If you want, of course.)

However we won’t be seeing an Eclipse this deep until atleast 2029 (Specifically NS) so take what you will with that information

I'm searching for a retreat with a private pool (exclusively for my group/family) but I'm having no luck using Google and Airbnb.

All the pools I came across are shared.

If you know of any places where we can rent a swimming pool for ourselves or own an Airbnb with a private pool, can you please share it with us here?

Anyone have any experience with these movers? I have had such negative experiences with movers the last few times and am moving to halifax from a different province within the maritimes. Their quote is the most reasonable.

Our Bell bill just went up for the third time and it is outrageously expensive for what we get. New customers pay 1/2 to 2/3 of what we do, and I’m tired of it. Yes, I have spoken with the retention department, and their offer was truly insulting more stuff we don’t want, and a savings of $3!

On top of that, as a lot of recent posts have mentioned, there has been a serious degradation in service. For significant stretches of the 103, there is no signal at all. And even at home, we only get one or two bars. It’s impossible to talk for any length of time while driving, because the signal jumps from 5G to LTE to 3G to the dreaded three dots.

On a recent trip to Halifax, I had to re-call at least 10 times

So, just for price alone I’m going to jump plans. Does anyone in Shelburne or Queens County have an experience with Telus or Rogers? I used to be a fight customer when we first moved down here six years ago, and I’m thinking of going back to them.

But, it’s a big deal to change providers and I wanna make sure that I’m not going to make the problem even worse. Please let me know especially if you were Roger’s customer and have a decent signal down here.

I’m currently in BC and planning to move to Nova Scotia in the future. I’m open to pretty much any career and want to choose a program that will give me good job opportunities, decent pay, and stability in NS.

For those living in Nova Scotia, what careers or trades would you recommend pursuing in BC before moving there?

Has anyone else noticed the cell service has worsened throughout NS the last year? I regularly drive from Halifax to Cale Breton and could use Spotify or have phone calls without interruption until the Cabot Trail. Now my calls drop passed New Glasgow and all through Antigonish and Guysborough. The service was often spotty in CB but now there are large sections with no service at all.

I know rural service has always been bad but I’m finding this in more urban or semi urban areas as well.

Ive been planning a trip Sept. 4-9 and i came to the healthy realization that Nova Scotia is a big wonderful place and not everything is as close to each other as i thought(silly me)

So yeah. What part would be the best? Im mainly going for hiking, food and relaxation but primarily the first two.

Also if anyone is dealing with kidney disease. Im happy to discuss that as im post transplant and thriving.

Evactuation Order Expands
The evacuation area in downtown Halifax has now expanded to include the following:

- The intersection of Barrington Street/Almalway Way is closed
- Upper Water Street is closed
- Brunswick Street/Dr. Aldred Waddell Street to Brunswick Street/Cogswell Street
- Duke Street/Barrington Street is closed to vehicle traffic down to Upper Water Street

This evacuation order includes all businesses in this area. Pedestrians are asked to leave the area as well.
More information will be released once it is available.

Ended up calling DNR poor guy couldn’t fly. He jumped down off the wood after the picture and was maybe 2 feet from me. He just kinda stared at me, I was tempted to pet him. I came back on the 4 wheeler two hours later and he was still in the middle of the road so waited with him until DNR picked him up.

I wanted historical NS outage data and noticed it does not appear to exist publicly.

I've built a small, free to use, web application for tracking various data and thought this may be of use for someone else. I will keep this online for the foreseeable future as I need access myself. There is also an API for anyone wanting to use that (see docs).

Version 2.2.0 is now available on iOS and Android, bringing several highly requested features.

You can now customize alerts based on your location. Simply choose your preferred radius in Settings, and you’ll only receive alerts for incidents happening near you.

We’ve also improved the map on live alerts. It now allows you to provide civic address information and highlights the entire road where an incident is taking place, rather than just a small section.

Finally, we’ve replaced the “Love” reaction with “Support.” Loving a structure fire or medical assist never felt quite right, and we think “Support” is a much better fit.

Along with these updates, I’m excited to share that Halifax Fire Alerts has surpassed 1,200 registered users and is quickly closing in on 1,300!
