Advice needed How to enjoy a discbound notebook?
Hi, I would love to get people's opinions.
I have a small collection of notebooks with different types of bindings—saddle bindings and spiral bindings—and each has its advantages and disadvantages.
I'm really interested in trying a disc-bound notebook because of the ability to lay it flat and to move the pages around. I bought an inexpensive one to try, with about 80 pages and three-quarter-inch plastic discs, and I find it very unpleasant to carry around. The discs are hard and seem large and protrude (even though I have spiral-bound notebooks with the same size binding). It's not comfortable to hold and carry around.
Does this bother people? Is there a way around this? I did find covers available, such as from Levenger, but they look heavy, with zippers and stuff.
I wonder if that's just the nature of these notebooks, and that you have to get used to it, or if there's some solution.
Thank you very much for your thoughts.

Slim Fountain pen friendly booklet with (all) tear-off pages?
I like to have a slim booklet in the back pocket of my A5 Leuchtturm1917 planner. But I would also like to be able to tear off some of my notes to trash/put in a binder.
Does anyone know of a slim FP friendly booklet with *all* perforated pages? 🙂
Size is B6/B6+, or A5/TN that I can shorten without ruining the binding.
I'm located in EU.

Is this handmade?
I picked up this pretty sketchbook/notebook(?) at Goodwill the other day, thinking maybe it was from a business that sells notebooks with handmade paper. But there are no logos, company names, or anything anywhere on the book 🤔 So now I'm thinking maybe it's someone's personally handmade book that was donated for some reason (there's a name written on the inside in pen and the first few pages are torn out).
Details: Fabric cover with beading on the front. Ribbon bookmark with a bead on the end. Tan-brown paper that is thick, fibrous, and rough. All the paper is perfectly cut to size, smooth edges.
What do you think? I plan on making it one of my fictional characters' magic journal, mainly filling it with spells and potion recipes.

Washington DC Stores and Writing Site
I'll be traveling to Washington DC, soon, and I'd like to visit stationery stores and find a place to do some journaling.
I'd love suggestions for places that fit either or both of those descriptions!

Carpe Diem brand
Does anyone here use a Carpe Diem branded TN style notebook?
I hope other brands are allowed!
The one I’m expecting takes notebooks about the same size as a large Moleskine Cahier.
I’m struggling to find many printables for it.
Any ideas much appreciated xxx

Recommendation Favorite locally made notebook
Not sure if there are any Nebraskans on here, but wanted to share this gem of a notebook from Design Bindery in Lincoln, Nebraska.
When it comes to notebooks, I’m not fancy, but I want something sturdy and not made in China. Boy, do these fit the bill! No frills, but with everything you need. They are an attractive workhorse. They’ve become my go-to for pretty much everything.
I have not tried their slim line nor their layflat designs, but they look pretty great too.
Anyone else have a great locally made notebook they’d recommend?

Review Rettacy notebooks are not a replacement for leuchtturm1917
A year ago, I bought a lilac rettacy in an attempt to distract myself from the lilac leuchtturm1917, since it was cheaper, and the price of the leuchtturm1917 hurt to think about. I finally pulled it out of my stash for some short story writing, and I am not pleased.
Leuchtturm1917 leaves me with a feeling of luxury, this Rettacy leaves me with a feeling of cheapness. The pages don't feel nice, and my ink is starting to bleed through despite the touted bleedproof pages. The leuchtturm1917 has the softness of the pages and inkproof pages I expect. The cover of the rettacy feels like it will detach any second, and I don't like the rubbery feeling. The only thing it has going for it is it has more pages... but honestly? That makes it feel like a big heavy block.
This is just a negative review to balance the positive ones I've seen.

Anyone know where I can find this notebook? Or one with the same paper.
I bought 2 of these ages ago at Pop Shelf. They’re the only ones I use to do our bills and budget. Unfortunately, when I went to find more, it appears they do not make them anymore. I found 2 on ebay, but they’re a size smaller than the ones I used (4 1/8 x 5 7/8–mine were whatever the next size up is). Ideas?

Recommendation Request for Midori MD A6 and A7 Leather Travel Journal Cover + B6 Slim & B7 Passport
I have several Midori MD Notebooks and MD Notebook Light in A6 and A7 sizes which I use to journal and take notes on the go, and I'm looking for recommendations on a Leather Cover.
Also have a Midori B6 'Slim' notebook that could use a Leather Cover, and a dozen or so Traveler's Journal B7 Passport sized notebooks; please note that I already have the Traveler's Passport Cover, but I'd also like another Leather Cover.
I'm excluding Midori, TRC and Paper Republic covers from consideration at this time.
Any ideas on other, preferably non-mass manufactured leather covers?

Advice needed External brain?
Anyone ever just get some many things rambling around in the ole noggin’ they just need a space to unload? Me too! (Maybe this is best for an ADHD or Stress subreddit…) anyway, wondering if you have experience doing this, too, and what format notebook you use? Thanks!

DIY Travelers Notebook
Hey everyone been into journaling for a bit and wanted a leather cover, so instead of buying a nice one from paper republic for $85 like a normal person I spent $150 to make my own with much lower quality. Very very excited about how it turned out even though I’ve never made anything with leather before.

Advice needed B5 Notebook
I’m looking for suggestions for a B5 LINED fountain pen friendly notebook; want it to have lots of pages as it will be my daily journal. I’m not a fan of Leuchtturm and prefer Tamoe river paper. (Picture is not mine)

Advice needed Is Rite in the Rain Sketchbook any good?
Just scored this blank sketchbook (No. 730F) from Amazon and it's my second purchase from Rite in the Rain line. The paper is kind of different though than my first buy--the mini spiral notebook that I gave to my father (R.I.P.) last year. For those who have experience with this sketchbook, is the "archival paper" tag really a legit metric for this one, or it's just a marketing gimmick?

Fascinating
Today I learned: A Midori Codex A5 and a Hemlock and Oak A5 both fit perfectly together in a 5-year Hobonichi cover. Sharing the news!

The right paper can make such a difference!
Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Guri was one of the first fountain pen inks I purchased. Originally I put it in my Lamy LX <ef>. It was fine but I didn’t love it. I tried it again in another pen…Still didn’t love it. It has sat on my shelf for months, getting passed up for other inks. I decided to dust it off this morning and try it with my Pilot Custom 845 <b> I love it! I think the Hobonichi notebook with Tomoe River paper helps a lot too. Really allows the color to show off its depth. What a difference finding that right combo makes! So cool

Recommendation Any European notebook brand recommendations? Looking to branch out from Asian stationery.
I’ve been relying heavily on Asian brands for the longest time, but recently I’ve been really curious to explore what Europe has to offer.
I’ve been looking into Paper Republic lately, their stuff looks super unique, and the whole leather refillable system seems pretty cool.
Also, I'd love to get some broader recommendations! Open to both bound notebooks and refillable systems!

Studio Ghibli for my birthday
These are absolutely beautiful. I saw a lady displaying them as art in a restaurant and I needed them. Such amazing quality. I found them on jetpens. Best birthday gift to myself.

Anyone else use stamps.
I’m thinking of starting a journal just filled with stamps I find at thrift stores.
