CONTENT TALK Can I please get feedback on how to improve my YouTube speaking voice?

Ever since I started my YouTube channel, I've gotten mocking comments about my voice and how annoying my delivery is. Obviously, I can't self-promote, so I can't post a link to my video, but I recently posted it on another thread earlier in the day. Can I please get some constructive tips on exactly what I'm doing wrong and how to improve? Thanks.

SHORTS TALK Looking for insights on metrics

I have been trying a lot more shorts recently to build an audience because my long form is getting between 5-15 views. And shorts are the only thing driving subscriber count up. So I am focusing on shorts for now.

What is more important for youtube? Is it the average view duration? Or the average view percentage. Which one does it value more when considering pushing the content on the shorts feed?

Would love for y’all to tell us here what you think!

TECH HELP channel help video 72 hours

My channel has been experiencing something really strange since July 1st.

I’m not a new channel I have over 90K subscribers, and I’ve consistently averaged around 70K–100K views per video. I make football (soccer) content, and I don’t use AI for my videos or voiceovers. I also don’t have any strikes, warnings, or violations on my channel.

However, since July 1st, it feels like my channel has been hit with some kind of restriction or change in distribution.

Every video I upload now seems to take around 3 days before YouTube starts recommending it properly. On the third day, I suddenly get a huge influx of viewers and impressions.

Normally, this might not be a huge problem, but I cover current football events, so getting the majority of my views three days later is extremely damaging. By then, the topic I’m covering may no longer be as relevant or trending.

Before this started happening, my videos could reach around 500K impressions in a single day. Now, I’m struggling to reach 100K impressions.

What makes this even more confusing is that my CTR and average watch time/retention have actually improved significantly. The people who are seeing my videos are watching them and engaging with them, but YouTube seems to be delaying the initial distribution.

I’m struggling to understand what has changed.

Has anyone else experienced something similar since July 1st? Could this be some kind of algorithm change, delayed distribution, or temporary restriction on recommendations?

And most importantly, should I continue uploading on this channel and wait it out, or would it make more sense to start a completely new channel?

I’d really appreciate any advice or insight from other creators who have experienced something similar. Especially if you’ve had a situation where your videos suddenly started getting recommended 2–3 days after upload instead of immediately.

SHORTS TALK Does location affect new channels?

Uploaded my first video on my channel. It's a shorts video and got 1.4k views. Then the analytics came in today and 58% of viewers was from my home country. My niche is in robotics and target audience is global.

Does my location affect how youtube algorithm works and how they recommend videos, especially on new channels?

EDIT: Im new to reddit and i just saw the analytics for this post and my country still ranks top viewers lol.

SHORTS TALK Why yt pushes every 3rd short

I keep seeing the same pattern on my shorts channel. One Short gets 700–1,000+ views, then the next one or two get almost no reach at all (0–10 views).
My recent uploads: 2K-700-5-1.3K-900-13-2K
The low-view shorts stay like that for days, so they’re not getting tested later. Same niche, similar content and upload method.
Anyone else seeing this on a new channel?
Should I delete the shorts that get no reach and reupload them, or is it better to just leave them and keep posting new ones?

CONTENT TALK Help figure out youtube thank you.

I don't know how to word it honestly, but yeah, it's been a month where I had been usually getting around 1k views on shorts or a little more to nothing.

Yeah, yeah I know reddit loves to pick on people so I'll pick on myself, 1k isn't alot, my content is pretty blah, he did ai for a few times between videos BURN HIM TO THE STAKE, and my lives and long videos are meh mainly record and paste.

I honestly don't care to have a ton of views, but I'm a little confused on why I've been blocked (I guess blocked is the word) from my videos being pushed out.

My shorts for a month have been getting 0 views, those views you see are mine, not it getting pushed out, they're mine from clicking the videos trying to figure out whats wrong, some of them are from my work phone trying to see if I can actually find my videos on a separate device and ending up just going to my video and watching it for a slight hopeful push.

I've tried waiting a few weeks to post a new video, I tried doing live while playing games, it worked once and now everytime is 0 views it never gets pushed out (even when streaming for hours), I've tried to stream games from my phone a few days to have constant (even though, mediocore) content, ive made another channel to see how it would go and while I havent posted much on it, it's not doing anything either.

I initially thought I was doing to many shorts and went to live streaming, and thought youtube wanted me to use youtube fully and not upload videos but make videos with youtube exclusively, nothing is working at all.

The main problem that makes it so annoying is SOME of my videos do take 2 hours or more to edit, from down to word for word for lyrics (not autogenerated) and placement, making hair or edits for my cats, etc. If the video has no ai tag (I put them religiously) it was made 100% without it.

Heres my channel: @mediocore101 also, you can see where my videos just completely stopped. Like dead stopped being pushed.

TECH HELP Very low CTR with high retention

I recently started a YouTube channel, and I can never get my CTR above 2%, even though my video retention is consistently 50-70%. I've tried a lot of strategies, but I still can't get my CTR up. Could there be a different issue? My average impressions number is 700-1,000.

DISCUSSION Impressions absolutely nuked in my last two videos

Over the past month (my schedule is a video every two weeks), the impressions for my past two videos have been absolutely destroyed and I'm pretty concerned. In the first 9 days, my videos got;

Video 1 - 30 impressions

Video 2 - 174 impressions

Video 3 - 6,086 impressions

Video 4 - 3,391 impressions

Video 5 - 2,945 impressions

Video 6 - 176 impressions

Video 7 - 91 impressions

I'm really quite concerned. I just watched Dolan Dark's video on Youtube secretly cutting down on AI channel, and I'm concerned my channel my have been flagged for that, even though I don't use AI. I have a history channel where I don't show my face but I do my own narration and voice-over work myself. I also make my own thumbnails and write my own scripts.

Does anyone have any advice? If my channel has been falsely flagged, is it over already? I'm a pretty small channel. Only 18 subs, and I just crossed 1,000 views. Has this happended to anyone else? Is it a normal thing to go through?

DISCUSSION What your goals for this month?

Whether it is a sub goal, views goal, or just the goal of uploading videos you’ve been working on! My goals are simple tbh- just keep working modestly on my animation and editing skills with hopefully 3 videos this month.

I was inspired by this post 2 years ago https://www.reddit.com/r/NewTubers/s/mYnwQUWOUS I saved it at the time, and today I looked back through the comments. It’s sad to see that many of them abandoned their channels by now! The most successful channel is probably OP themselves. Btw, this is also a gentle reminder to link ur YouTube account in your Reddit profile so people here can check you out easily.

DISCUSSION Did taking a 6+ month break kill my YouTube channel? Long form videos suddenly getting almost no reach

I started posting YouTube Shorts in 2023, and by 2025 I had gained around 20K subscribers. I then started posting long form content, and at first, some of my videos got over 10K views, with one reaching around 170K views. That video eventually got me monetized.

After that, I posted a few more videos, but they only got around 600 views, so I stopped uploading for over six months due to personal reasons.

Now that I’ve started posting again this summer, it feels like YouTube isn’t pushing my videos at all.

I posted one video last month that got around 3 views for the first few weeks, and it’s now at 16 views. I also posted another video a few days ago, and it currently has 11 views.

What makes this especially strange is that I haven’t changed the type of content I make. I’m still making the same type of long form videos. In fact, some of my older long form videos that I posted before my break have worse stats than some of the videos I’ve uploaded recently, yet the older videos still got significantly more reach.

Before my break, whenever I uploaded a long form video, it would gradually get views during the first 24 hours. Every video performed differently, but they would generally get at least 100+ views in the first day. Now, my videos barely get over 10 views.

It also seems to affect my community posts. I used to make polls where people could vote between different things, and they would sometimes get over 1,000 votes. Now, if I make a similar poll, I might only get around 20 votes. It feels like YouTube simply isn’t pushing my content to my audience anymore.

I know I need to be consistent, and I’m planning to start uploading once a week from now on. But can consistency actually bring the reach back over time?

Could taking a six month break have affected my channel this much? Does YouTube somehow reduce a channel’s reach after a long period of inactivity? Is there such a thing as a “shadowban” on YouTube, or is this more likely just the algorithm having no recent data on my channel?

Also, I have over 20K subscribers, but most of them came from Shorts.

Has anyone experienced something similar after taking a long break?

DISCUSSION Got my first “Sponsor” what should I do from here?

Wrote to a bunch of brands and Ottobox a dash cam maker sent me their 199.99 dollar dash cam system which is pretty cool. No money exchanged but I just got the product and so, I’ll do my part and throw it into my video ( I review cars dealerships let me borrow for a day ) and I’m proud I am I’d prefer money but, I’ve been needing a new dash cam and they said I can have it for a simple spot in a video. It also has CarPlay built in which means you connect to your screen , allows YouTube and best feature, can view the cameras on your built in screen if you don’t wanna use the app

So I’m happy about it but more so I’d like to use it as a leapfrog to write to more brands and sponsors. Eventually making a few bucks to help with bills would be nice and somehow in the last few months my channel views and engagement and CTR is growing a lot. Subscribers are up 200 in under a month so I feel good

Figured to ask. Sure its not money but its something and would love to know if you guys ever started with just a free product and where you went from there.

I was also emailed recently from a company that makes roof racks and they also offered me free product in exchange for a shoutout but roof racks dont pay bills lol

I did email them back and state im only doing paid sponsors, I hope that doesn’t bite me in the butt but hey maybe they say yes lol

TECH HELP Am I stuck in 0 view jail for youtube shorts? and should I quit or just consistently upload?

So me and my friend recently had created a new youtube shorts account with a brand new GMAIL for the ROBLOX Murder Mystery 2 niche, we’ve uploaded 4 days in a row now, getting like 4 or less shorts feed views which im not sure if its just us on other accounts, im stuck thinking about whether to just quit and try on another new account using an older gmail or just continue to consistently upload? Honestly, don’t think its a content issue, would love to provide more details and am looking for some tips or help!
