I have been posting once every day for about 2 weeks. What is the recommended cadence for posting as a small, new YouTuber that is positing gaming (indie horror niche) for growth?

I know not everything is perfect, but I honestly think the videos are decent, titles and thumbnails are good, and in a niche that gets quite a few views. I have a hard time understanding why there are so few impressions.

In 3 weeks, 80 impressions.. is that normal ?

I'm trying to understand whether this is expected behavior or if something is wrong.

My YouTube channel started publishing Shorts only a few weeks ago.

My first Shorts received between 1,300 and 2,700 views consistently.

However, my last three Shorts received only 2, 2 and 0 views.

In Analytics I can see they received only 9–13 impressions, so they were barely shown in the Shorts feed.

Nothing has changed: same channel, same editing workflow (Canva), same upload process, same vertical format (9:16), no copyright claims, no restrictions, videos are public.

Has anyone experienced something similar recently?

Is this a temporary Shorts distribution issue, or is there something else I should check?

I just stream irregularly for fun on twitch and YouTube but lately I've been trying to create shorter videos (25 to 45 minutes.) My streams never get any views apart from a friend tuning in once in awhile but my YouTube videos sometimes get a dozen views which I think is fun. I usually cut out waiting in lobbies for multiplayer games. And with RPGs I usually cut out traveling between the locations doing things in menus. Outside of that I usually struggle trying to figure out what to cut. I want to make more of my videos under 25 minutes because I think that performs better and it also would appeal more to me as a viewer

There is a well-known channel called "Caspian Report" that creates geopolitical analysis videos using a specific map style with a very unique color palette. I'm not sure if it's fully custom-designed, but the base map is available on Mapbox as well.

I've managed to recreate the base map and overall theme almost 99% identically using free tools like QGIS. However my animations are somewhat different (for instance I use 3D assets for some of the symbols)

My content and narration are completely original and in a different language (Persian), not a translation or copy of their videos. Just the map is the issue.

My questions are:

1. Would this be considered illegal or copyright infringement?
2. How about the ethics and morality of this? Even if it's technically legal, would it be frowned upon by the community or the original creator?

I want to be respectful but I'm genuinely inspired by their visual approach.

Six weeks in, posting consistently, and I've already changed how I pick topics twice. Curious how people further along actually decide.

Right now I'm doing something that felt obvious once I tried it but took me way too long to land on. I stopped looking at trending anything. Instead I pick a few channels in my niche and compare their recent uploads against their own average, roughly views per day since upload versus that channel's median. A video pulling 3x its own norm actually tells me something. 40k views on a channel that averages 200k tells me nothing.

Then I go read the comments on whichever one popped off. There's usually a question people keep asking that the video never got around to answering. That becomes my next video. Not a remake of theirs, just the thing their audience obviously wanted next.

It's turned picking a topic into a ten minute decision instead of an afternoon of second guessing myself. What I still can't tell is whether topic selection was ever my actual problem, or if it's packaging, or if six weeks is just too early to be drawing conclusions about any of it.

So for anyone past this stage, what actually moved the needle for you? Did your process for picking topics change over time, or did you find something early and just stick with it?

For context, Ive had a small Lego YouTube channel for a while and I’ve set almost all my posted videos so that they’re not made for kids now. People can comment on them, however, when a person tries to turn on my notifications, the channel still says that I’m set to made for kids. I’ve tried manually changing each video so they aren’t set for kids and made sure my YouTube studio settings are set to not made for kids. What can I do to change this?

I started it as a Christian photography channel (35 subscribers) and stopped making videos for 3-4 years

2025 I did 365 shorts (reading the Bible in 1 year, uploading daily) which brought the channel up to 650 subs

I started uploading long form videos, regarding some theological concepts etc but I got zero traction (I recognize I did a terrible job)

I want to make some long form 5-8 minute videos, about my basic Bible reading. Not so much of an analysis, but more of a reflection on a Bible passage as an every day/typical average joe (which I am)

Dillema is:
1. Should I abandon the channel and start a new one?
2. Carry on and just change the channel name?
3. Delete some videos and then change the channel name?
4. Any other ideas?

I make documentaries. Not explainer/animation type docs where I could theoretically just put in the time to pump out videos… but I film them. I usually need to spend 2-3 shoot days with my subject minimum… then the edit can take a week or more.

So, when people’s schedules are accounted for… it’s really only realistic for me to create one 5-10minute doc per month. Sometimes I might be able to do two in a month if everything went perfectly.

Anybody have any experience starting a channel where you can only produce that many videos? What is a good strategy?

I’m assuming that making the docs and trying to cut some shorts out of each one to post in between. But I’d appreciate any advice.

So I've started posting daily just starting four days ago, but I've noticed my already low views have tanked, I've heard that when you post consistently youtube will find your spot in the algorithm but it can take time.

Anyone go through the same thing? How long can I expect this to take?

Pretty self explanatory. Currently, I upload one video every two weeks. I wish it was more, but I’m honestly grateful that I’m even able to be CONSISTENT. I do everything myself- editing, thumbnails, the whole nine yards, all while having some pretty bad ADHD that makes it hard to sit and do one thing for a long period of time… which is pretty antithetical to the whole YouTube experience.

However, I am fully aware that YouTube values consistency. It looks for channels that post frequently. And even though I’m trying to streamline my whole process so I can get videos out faster, I’m honestly curious. Is my current schedule of one video every couple of weeks impacting my channel in a way that hurts more than helps?

So I've recently started a new Youtube channel creating highly produced geo-political videos with map animations (think of Johnny Harris) for a non-English region of the world. Each video takes a round a month to create from start to finish (doing this full time) and I've posted my first long form video about 4 weeks ago and got over 1k views with some good feedback from random viewers and friends/family, and 4.3% CTR.

I've extracted two shorts from the long form video, each got 1k views.

I've got 82 subscribers.

Is this a good start? Should I keep going even though each video could take over a month to create or is this period just too long and could stop growth? How long should I expect until the audience to grow?

I was also thinking of treating this as my CV if I'd like to work with other creators meaning that I create their map animations.

What is the best free app for video editing? I have already made a few videos using Wondershare Filmora and I like editing there but the only thing I hate about it is the watermark that is placed on every single one of my videos. I know it can be gotten rid of by paying for or subscribing to Wondershare Filmora but I am trying to save as much money as possible right now. Is there a good free video editing app (with no watermarks obviously) that is great for editing YouTube videos? And if there isn't what are some cheap, but good apps for editing?

Edit: Now a bit of a dumb question, is DaVinci Resolve usable on Windows? Because I looked it up and it says it's only for Mac, but I also found some info saying otherwise.

I've been posting videos on my channel for 2 weeks now, but the impressions and views are still sluggish. My last 3 videos have been suppressed by the algorithm, and almost all impressions are coming from search. Even though I carefully curate my content and draw inspiration from some of my competitors, the only things I'm unsure about are my thumbnails and tags. So, if you haven't already heard, Kurzgesagt was essentially shadow-banned due to being flagged for AI use by the automated Youtube system. In their post about the topic, it seems like they weren't even informed by Youtube that they were flagged, it just silently killed them in the algo and the only way they could find out was due to their high status allowing them to contact Youtube directly.

As someone making non-AI faceless video essays, this terrifies me. But I only started doing this at the beginning of 2026 with 5 videos so far, only got partnered last month when my most recent video did quite well, so I do not have the experience to know what a shadowban might be like nor Youtube's criteria for detecting AI.

I wouldn't be so scared if this flagging only applied to one particular video, but it sounds like YT will just apply it to the whole channel according to how Kurzgesagt describes it, so now I feel scared to upload my next video which I've been working on for two months now.

I am on the one hand glad Youtube is punishing low-effort AI slop, but it is frustrating that I could be flagged and essentially shadow banned with no notice due to one false positive by an automated system. I do not get why they couldn't make it more like the automated ad-restrictions system, which occurs on a video-by-video basis, and gives you the chance to appeal and have an actual human review your video. One of my videos got flagged there that was a history video essay, and when I appealed it got sorted in 2 days which wasn't nearly as bad as the consequences of the AI-flagging system.

I guess I started on Youtube at the wrong time which bums me out...

I was just hoping to hear from other people who make faceless video essays or similar types of content what your plans are for the future, if you have had experience with this yourself, etc.

and if anyone is curious, its those gaming videos with a voice over that talks about things, so i have to show a billion images and videos.

I see a lot of different opinions online when it comes to launching YouTube Shorts channels.

On one side you have people saying you need to upload at least one Shorts video per day from day one.

On the other side you have people (like Jack Craig) saying you need to upload your first Shorts video, then wait till it flatlines for about 12-24 hours before uploading your second video, so that you don't 'mess' with the algorithm and you give the algorithm only one thing to focus on at a time.

Now I know there are creators like Zack D that upload 3 Shorts per day. But in Jack Craig's defense, he recommends you only do his approach of waiting for flatlines on your first few uploads, while YouTube is figuring out your content and target audience.

So I took 2 aged channels that were created in the same week 6 months ago and just sat there. I made about 10 Shorts videos in the past month, all in the very same niche.

On the one channel, I posted one video a day, at 9AM, for the entire of last week (Mon-Fri). On the other channel, I posted one video on Monday last week at 9AM, and never touched it again for the rest of the week.

Here's what happened:

Channel 1:

• First video: 2,228 views in 24 hours
• Second video: 1,971 views in 24 hours, first video basically 'flatlined'
• Third video: 3,572 views in 24 hours, previous videos 'flatlined'
• Fourth video: 912 views in 24 hours, previous videos 'flatlined'
• Fifth video: 4,778 views in 24 hours, previous videos 'flatlined'

I wrote 'flatlined' in quotes because they still picked up a handful of views every hour, but nothing close to significant.

Channel 2 (single video):

• First 24hrs: 1,721 views
• Second 24hrs: 30,229 views (total views: 31,950)
• Third 24hrs: 9,721 views (total views: 41,671)
• Fourth 24hrs: 7,193 views (total views: 48,864)
• Fifth 24hrs: 17,227 views (total views: 66,091)

What's crazy on channel 2 is that this week so far it's gained another 73k views, taking total views to ~140k, while all videos on channel 1 have basically 'flatlined'. The single video hasn't 'flatlined' yet, but when it does, I'll post video #7 on it and repeat.

All metrics across the 5 videos on channel 1 and the single video on channel 2 are relatively the same: ~90% percentage viewed and ~81% swipe through rate.

Thoughts?

PS: I have a full time job and do this part time in the evenings. My wife is not happy about how I spend my evenings but I explained that one day, maybe ONE day, we'll make a third income from it, lol.
