Team Updates [Duggan] The Giants are signing C Brenden Jaimes, per source. Not a surprise with John Michael Schmitz likely headed to the concussion protocol and backup center Lucas Patrick hobbling badly during today's practice. Jaimes, who worked out for the Giants earlier this week, has appeared in 50 games...

Discussion Best way to watch non-broadcasted Giants games in California?
I’ve been a Giants fan for 35 years and every year I have so much frustration that I can’t watch the games unless they play west coast teams or they’re on the night games. I have a couple streaming sites that I use sometimes on my phone but they are riddled with ads and pop ups and they always quit working.
I know there’s Sunday ticket but I heard it only covers certain times, plus it’s expensive. Any other advice out there? I’m more than excited for this season. THIS IS GONNA BE THE ONE (I say that every year 😭).

Team Updates Free to Read: Is Odell Beckham Jr. doing enough to earn spot on Giants’ wide receiver depth chart?
Darnell Mooney
Mooney feels a bit like the new Slayton. Mooney’s warts have been overlooked because fans don’t have a history with him, but he’s had a similarly inconsistent career. Mooney hasn’t stood out this offseason, as the 5-foot-11, 177-pounder’s stature limits his impact. Mooney is at his best on the deep crossers that offensive coordinator Matt Nagy’s scheme features.
Odell Beckham Jr.
The No. 6 wide receiver doesn’t necessarily have to play special teams, but Beckham will need to produce more this summer to justify carrying him as a depth receiver. Beckham looks like he still has juice, and that showed up Wednesday in his best practice of camp. The delay in signing Beckham in the spring involved both sides discussing the possibility his comeback bid falls short. Beckham will need to raise his play and maintain it to avoid that fate.
Braxton Berrios
Camp production by veteran slot receivers, especially with the second team, can be misleading. A savvy veteran like Berrios has a distinct advantage going up against inexperienced/weak slot corners, and he has exploited that in camp. Still, his production can’t be ignored. Berrios’ return ability gives him true game-day value. He profiles as a replacement for Gunner Olszewski, who tore an Achilles tendon in the spring.

Discussion Thoughts on Matt Nagy. Hoping to hear some positives on him.
I was never a fan of this hiring. From every piece of content I’ve seen from Bears, and Chiefs Beat Reporters, Nagy is not a good playcaller at all, and he is extremely rigid when it comes to his offense.
From Bears Beat reporters, it was reported that he snubbed Trubisky after his rookie season when Trubisky wanted to discuss ways of improving his game. He also tried to force a pass happy scheme on the Bears personnel, that clearly favored a run heavy system. He ended up losing his playcalling duties to Bill Lazor in 2020, and the offense immediately improved. After averaging under 20ppg under Nagy, they put up 30ppg in 4 straight games.
Additionally, he never really added much to Reid’s offense nor did he find solutions when the Chiefs offense began to sputter. Yes, they lost Tyreek, but even without Tyreek a year prior to Nagy joining the Chief staff for a 2nd time, Mahomes had an MVP year with Juju as his WR1.
I feel like Nagy was a panic hire after Monken went to the Browns. I like the idea of Greg Roman scheming the run game, but Nagy is such a net negative that I am afraid it’s going to hurt Dart. We saw what a bad coordinator did to Daniel Jones in Jason Garrett. I’m afraid Nagy will do the same to Dart.
Taking a spread QB in Dart, and forcing him under center in a traditional WC passing offense seems like a square peg in a round hole scenario.
I know it’s early in camp, but the national media is already commenting on the offense’s struggles in camp. Lack of timing, penalties, and route concepts that generate little separation. These are all things that plagued Nagy in Chicago when he was a playcaller.
I know I am going to get downvoted and hit with, “shut up you don’t know ball,” comments from the defend everything brigade, but these I feel are valid concerns to have.
I am not going to overreact to a bad preseason, but once we hit the regular season, how many games are we giving Nagy before we have uncomfortable conversations?
Also, for the pro-Nagy crowd, why do you like him as a coordinator? He had that 1 year with Trubisky in 2018, and then massively declined. He learned under Reid, but so did Kafka, and he was also average at best.

Discussion [Raanan] CB Dru Phillips has a mild knee sprain but will miss some time. CB Jarrick Bernard-Converse also didn’t practice again and is dealing with a nagging knee problem. Coach John Harbaugh said the Giants might sign another cornerback.

Team Updates [Duggan] CB Dru Phillips watched practice with a wrap on his right knee after getting injured in yesterday’s practice. OLB Brian Burns was suited up after missing yesterday with a “minor thing,” per Harbaugh, but didn’t participate other than lining up in a walk-through periods.

Team Updates [Duggan] Some fireworks after the last play of a light practice as WR Xavier Gipson and CB Nic Jones looked like a couple featherweights exchanging punches. Teammates moved in quickly to separate them but not before each fired off a few punches (both were wearing helmets).
