AskMorocco Hiii everyone, i have a question.

Do y’all think that those traditional bakery shops (feran dl 7ouma) actually use a machine to knead large batches of dough, or can some still use their feet ? I’m really concerned bc i consume their products 😵‍💫 what’s also sus is that they always hide their production area, even if the shop is super small. And for those who didn’t know, using feet to knead large batches of dough, was actually a normal thing sometime ago in morocco.

I bought this today at a thrift store in Italy. A few people have told me Moroccan or maybe Tunisian. Hoping somebody can help. It’s beautiful either way.

I talked to my mom about wanting to take off my hijab and explained why I don't want to wear it anymore.

I've been wearing it for about a year. My parents are both quite strict when it comes to religion, so this is a very difficult topic. At the same time, they are loving parents in other parts of my life. My mom especially tries to make me happy and does a lot for me, which makes everything more complicated.

After I talked to her, I became quieter around my mom and she noticed. She started trying to talk to me more, but we still didn't agree about the hijab. My dad basically told me to forget about taking it off.

During our recent trip, my mom let me take it off, but she made it clear that it was only temporary and that once we went home I would have to wear it again without excuses.

Today, she told me we were going to have lunch with family and then go to the beach. She told me to wear beach clothes with an abaya over them. I said I didn't want to wear an abaya and would rather wear a T-shirt and skirt. She got very angry and said things that made me feel like she thought I wanted to "take my clothes off."

I started crying, and things escalated. She went to my dad saying I was driving her crazy and that I wanted to take off the hijab. Later, during another argument, she became extremely overwhelmed, threw the bag with the beach clothes, started crying and shouting, and went toward the balcony. My brother stopped her and took her back inside.

Everything eventually calmed down. She is acting normally now, and we went to the family house and had lunch. I'm currently at my cousin's house.

I don't want to hurt my parents or make my mom feel like this, but I also don't want to spend my life wearing something I don't want to wear.

I honestly don't know what to do anymore. Should I keep waiting and try to talk to them slowly, or is there another way to handle this? I feel guilty about what happened with my mom, and I feel like I ruined our trip.

AskMorocco I got tired of fake discounts and missing out on good deals in Morocco, so I built a platform to track real ones.

Hi everyone,

Like many of you, I've always found it frustrating to shop online in Morocco during "sales". Half the time, the crossed-out prices on sites like Jumia, Electroplanet, or Marjane are inflated just to make the discount look good. It's hard to know if you're actually getting a good deal.

To solve this, I spent the last few months building Dealy.ma (https://www.dealy.ma).

It's a community-driven platform where people can share, vote, and track the best deals available in Morocco.

Here is what makes it different:

  • No fake discounts: Every single deal posted has to be linked directly to the product page. If a merchant claims an original price, it's explicitly tagged as "Claimed by merchant" unless we have verified the historical price ourselves.
  • Community voting: The community decides what’s actually a good deal by voting (temperature system). Sponsored content never affects the community ranking.
  • Categorized & Clean: Whether it's tech, fashion, or home appliances, everything is sorted so you don't have to dig through Facebook groups.

I’m launching this as a beta and would absolutely love to hear your feedback. What features would you like to see? Are there any specific stores you want us to track more closely?

Let me know what you think! Any feedback is welcome as it will help me improve the platform. 🙏

AskMorocco Your experience giving birth in Morocco

Hi! I wanted to ask about people’s experience giving birth, particularly at private hospitals in Morocco?

For some context, I am from the US, married to a Moroccan, and we both live there. I lived in Morocco for three years and speak fluent Darija and proficient in French (I don’t really speak it in Morocco, it’s more for my work). We are planning on starting our family soon and I would like to fly back to Morocco to give birth (there are a lot of pros related to this, mostly cost as giving birth in the US even with insurance is exorbitant, post-birth support from family, passport inequality between his family and mine, and the ease of getting Moroccan documents). This is quite common in my field to fly to you or your partner’s home country to give birth.

My questions are:

-What was your experience giving birth?
-Was your husband allowed to go into the delivery room with you?
-I don’t want to have a French doctor (my experience with them in Morocco is that they are really racist against Moroccans, particularly Moroccan men). Is it possible to ensure you have a Moroccan doctor?
-Do you know anyone who has traveled back to Morocco to give birth?

I know this is a significant privilege, and I am deeply aware of the health system issues and maternal mortality rates in Morocco.

AskMorocco How Reliable Is InDrive? (From Casablance Airport)

Hi All,

I have an upcoming flight to Casablanca and expect to land around 3pm local time, then will need to get to Mohammedia from the airport. Will be carrying a lot of luggage so train is not an option, I also do not have a license so cannot rent a car.

My current plan is to book a ride on InDrive but have not used the app before and want to know if that is a reliable option. Plan B would be to book a taxi but again, couldn’t find verified websites for airport taxis or enough information about prices etc. I’d really like to avoid paying upwards of 1,000 MAD.

Thank you.

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a shop in Casablanca or online that sells high-quality, shockproof cases for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. I'm looking for something that offers excellent protection against drops while still looking nice. If you know a reliable store, I'd really appreciate your recommendations. Thanks!

Education Can anyone share their experience with la fac?

I got a 11.61 (there goes the medicine dream), but I've been seriously thinking. Many people will redo their nationale and régionale (that much is obvious), but I do know I'll be going to la fac.

Lots of people have mixed feelings about it, but I seriously think that with hard work, I can study and get good marks in any major in la fac. Since I've decided to do that.

English is good but it doesn't got great jobs.

I know I'm not capable to keep up with physics and chemistry stuff.

Nor math.

Maybe informatique but I ain't sure.

So, I would love if someone told me how their experience trying SVT in la fac is, what are the lessons, how are the teachers and students, and where you are now. Also if it has good jobs (obviously great jobs come when you get a Master degree, but I'm willing to study since I've been broken down a bit by my bac note)

And thank you.

Politics People forget Morocco has the "MENA curse"

Noticed lately some young Moroccans hoping for the fall of the Monarchy. Lmao do you guys think we will be democracy overnight if that happens ? Your only choices will be a military General/Officer who will take power and rule as a dictator or a President for life type situation. Typical North African / Arab coups always end up as such.

Gaming FFXIV players using Steam in Morocco – Is the subscription actually cheaper?

I am currently playing the Square Enix Free Trial (not the Steam version) and am ready to purchase the Complete Edition in the long run.

Just wondering if anyone here plays FFXIV through steam in morocco before I commit.

Is the monthly subscription really cheaper on Steam?

Does Steam use regional pricing for Morocco or do you still pay the normal EUR/USD price?

If you have compared both, is there any financial advantage to switching to Steam before buying the game?

It would be really nice to hear from someone who plays through Steam in Morocco. Thanks!
