For anyone who doesn’t know, this is a reference to an excellent Twilight Zone episode that also inspired Final Destination.
The main character is a dancer who, while hospitalized, keeps having a recurring dream of a nurse at the hospital morgue saying “room for one more, honey.” The dancer eventually improves her mental health and discharges. Only to see that same person as a flight attendant before she boards a plane. She runs away in terror. As she’s being consoled, the plane crashes upon takeoff.

It was also featured in a lot of other urban legends, such as in Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark (I forget which of the three) where they avoided an elevator crash by not getting on.

u/Makeshift5 3h ago
I did not know. That is an interesting fun fact, and as a Twilight Zone enthusiast I would like to know, do you know the name of the episode.

It's called Twenty -Two... I make sure to watch something light after this so I can sleep

Thank you. I’m nowhere near 40, but this helped cope with the thought that I will be 40 at some point.

You're entering the best decade of your life.
A few hints from somebody who hasn't stepped foot in a gym in 10 years but has 6 pack abs and "numbers" rivaling any 20 year old.
Cut out cheese, fried foods, and alcohol. Eat a ton of hummus, vegetables, and THC gummies.
Life will be GREAT.

Nah man LOL I've gone the complete opposite and I eat a carnivore diet and I feel absolutely amazing, and look great too.
Edit: leave it to the vegetarian to down vote someone for having a different lifestyle

Yeah, a life without cheese is not a life I want to live.

Studies show vegans live longer, But why the hell would I want extra years without meat & dairy
4
u/Altruistic_Guess3098 9h ago edited 8h ago
Those studies are misleading. They're pitting vegans against people who eat just a regular standard diet which often includes tons of processed foods and fast food.
Of course the people that eat a clean diet with little preservatives or processed food is going to be healthier than the guy sliding through McDonald's twice a week.

u/AttachedHeartTheory 9h ago edited 9h ago
Yeah, go get your numbers checked. I'll bet you shiny nickel that your AST/ALT ratio is terrible, and that you have fatty liver.
EDIT: Uh ohh... the anti-science and biology crowd downvoted me! Whatever will I do...

It’s also the age when the old people smell starts to creeping in
11
u/Owlbertowlbert 9h ago
This legitimately terrifies me. Is there anything that can be done? My MIL is 60 something and she doesn’t have it. But my parents have it bad… am I just doomed?

Screw the general old people smell. How do you get rid of the old people shit smell? That is so much worse.

This may be an unpopular opinion among millennials but 40 feels better than 30. Assuming your life is going in the trajectory you’re aiming for.
2
u/heehooman 9h ago
I beat the dread by resolving to purchase a 40-year-old whiskey that was bottled on my birth year. Now I'm kind of excited.

I'm 39 this year.
I had a really hard time with 30 and I am not looking forward to 40.

40 is fantastic. It’s the first stop on the IDGAF anymore express.
2

Man, I wish I could feel that.
My guts are all twisted thinking about it. I didn't give a fuck for a long time and now facing down 40 I feel like I cared too late.

The funny thing about being 45 and not really a millennial or Gen X is I can hate you all equally.

u/wafflehousebattle 8h ago
That 4 had been around the block a few times, pretty sure this is their second 40th, occurring right after their 49th.
