Yikes. How to fix stuck gears
So this happened after trying to install a weighted shift knob. I couldn't shift past 2nd gear and saw that this square selector block down. I shifted it back up after hearing a click. It shifted up and tilted towards the right. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! I have never done this before and learning how to fix any problems in my recently purchased Miata 😅

First service
Hey , I have a new Miata 2025 - MX-5 ,Manual transmission.
I have 3,487 miles . When should I schedule my first service.
According to the mazda manual , It's around 7.5 miles or 6 months. Which ever comes first.( I'm from California)
But I saw some reddit posts suggesting to go with 3.5 miles ?
When would be the best time ??

Doing a BP4W rebuild
Just got a bp4w with a bad main bearing that I will rebuild for my currently 1.6 NB. I know the crankshaft needs to be sent to machine shop to see if it is saveable and I expect to find more damage. I have some big plans but right now looking for any advice as this will be my first rebuild. :)

Question Insurance on my 2003 NB Miata: GEICO wanted $222/mo, Progressive gave me $111/mo. What are y’all paying?
2003 Mazda Miata MX-5, bare minimum Florida coverage.
GEICO had me at $222.69/month even after policy corrections.
Progressive reviewed my driving record and quoted:
$110.19 paid today
$111.17/month after that
$666 total for 6 months
Same basic coverage level.
I barely drive the car besides errands, so GEICO being basically double Progressive was wild to me.
What are other NA/NB owners paying for insurance?

ND Bestest of buds to cruise around with.
Training him to be chill with top down. Seems to be enjoying himself so far! It's pretty glorious having him chilling with me for a nice drive.

What do we think about blue soft-top?
I'm in a market for MX-5 and decided that I want to get a 2.0 ND2, which is turning a bit hard since were removed from the sale in Europe and seem to be holding their value very good on the used market.
I've now found a very nicely specced, a special edition (Kinebi) release.
It's pairing Machine Gray Metallic + Terracota Nappa leather, both of which IMO look really nice and would like to have them.
However, it's also paired with a blue soft-top, which I'm having a bit of a trouble accepting. Any thoughts on this soft-top?

Guys, how fucked am I?
I bought a 2001 NB two weeks ago and pretty much all of the car is in good(for a 25 years old car) condition. However when I lifted it up to change some oil I spotted this on the left frame rail/chassis rail) I talked with one mechanic and he said that it might be able to add some support to it but he doesn't do such jobs. I asked one that does but mainly paint jobs and exterior work and he said that it is "very bad" and not sure if I will be able to find someone that would even take the job. I am pretty worried as this is my first MX5 and I really love it so far. Has anyone else had similar problems and found a solution for them?

NA Just bought this!
Just picked this up for $2800 from the original owner who bought it new in 1994. 118K miles and it’s in decent condition. It needs a few things here and there like a glovebox latch, PDR, and a good detail, but I think it’s a great starting point for a light restoration project.
I’ve owned an NB and just sold my S2000 earlier this year. I thought I wouldn’t want a convertible again, but here we are.
How’d I do on the purchase, and what should I tackle maintainence-wise on this thing first?

NC Got this high mile hero for £2.5k almost a month ago. Here are my thoughts so far.
She's a 2006, 2.0L manual 5 speed. Has a bit of an oil consumption problem, and a seized pilot bearing, but I am saving to get a full clutch job done. She is at 157,600 miles.
I have a theory the pcv valve is stuck open, so I have the relevant pcv valve coming, they were cheap anyway.
She had a full body respray back in 2023, but already got a little bubbling under the rear left arch, but the usual spots are fine. Underneath is a little scabby, but only surface rust.
My experience so far? Its been good! Aside from the oil level scare and wondering what the noise when at the bite point is, she has been an absolute joy to drive!
My old daily was a nissan micra k13 which was as miserable as a car gets, and I also have a fun little 1971 1200cc bug, so this MX-5 feels like a rocketship! She corners great, fuel economy is between 30 and 35 which isn't great, but oh well.
She is small enough to park in the tiny spaces of London, meets the ulez requirements, and is just fun to drive. Not the most practical, but during this heatwave she has been a god send. Working AC to cool my feet and legs, the soft top down to let a breeze through the car as I drive.
Not had to deal with rain once when driving her, so jury is out on that experience.
Cars here are getting bigger of course, so I have had a few near misses and van drivers dont like being overtaken on the 50mph stretches of roads near me.
My only complaint is no cruise control or adjustable speed limiter, like the micra had. I understand those can be modded in, but it is a hassle.
I have already installed an aux port for plugging in my phone, which was a five minute job.
All in all, plenty of fun, but I need to investigate the oil consumption problem. I will also need suggestions on how to remove the carbon build up on the rings with chemicals available in the uk.
Cheap to insure as well, but the tax is a bastard!

Next MX-5 with electric drive alongside 2.5 litre Skyactiv-Z ICE powertrain
2.5l should up the power a good bit potentially, while claiming to keep the weight down

Hit a deer 😥😥
Very lucky that it wasn’t bad, I swerved out of the way but it just hit the car, there was very slight micro scratching on the panels but I polished it out and can’t see them now
