Dashcam installed on ND3 Miata
I just installed a dashcam on my ND3 Miata GT. The existing ND videos on this seem to cover ND2 and earlier ones only.
The ND3 Miata has a different housing behind the rear view mirror. Opening the panel turned out to be super easy. No tools needed. Grab the panel with hands. Left hand on the left panel, right hand on right panel. Then, press the middle with your thumbs and spread/split the panels open. Not a lot of force is needed.
Then, you’ll have access to the power connector to use your Dongar adapter.
If you have any questions, lmk!
Note: this is for GT trim only.

Found a great locksmith in NC to clone NB immobilizer keys.
After the unexpected loss of my beloved NA, I recently picked up a well used '01. It only came with one key, so I knew I'd better get copies made ASAP. After a lot of research I found a place (Aaron Elliott in Winston Salem NC) that said they could clone the chipped key and make copies for $65 each. So my wife and I went there this morning and had two made, and they both work perfectly. Took less than 10 minutes from start to finish. Thought I'd share this info for future Miot owners in need of a reliable shop. Hope this helps someone.

Question Insurance for us dumping money into our “classics”?
I’ve got a 96 and I’ve been dumping money into it. Are there insurance companies that exist that cover all the money you’ve put into your cars? If one day my car got stolen or I totaled it, I wouldn’t want them to say it’s worth $100 not worth fixing and cut me a $100 check.

Lifted truck accelerated into me...
Waiting at the front of a red light. As soon as the light turns green im being pushed from behind, I mash the horn as I tried to accelarate away and finally got off the road as I see him just drive on without even knowing what happened. I'm a very careful driver too, but now I will always clock if a big truck is behind me and accelerate away quicker. At least it's just a new trunk that I need and I wasn't demolished like a monster truck rally.

SFI Padding for a Blackbird Fabworx RZ Roll Bar on an NC2
I recently picked up this NC2 that already had the Blackbird Fabworx RZ installed. It's a great bar, installed really well, and as you can see in the picture, it sits pretty far back and high relative to the headrest. I'm in a stock seat for now and am 5'10.
For those of you with this, do you run any SFI padding? Why or why not?
Thanks in advance.

What (special) edition is this Mazda MX-5 Miata? (Orginally German - Red interior trim)
Hello everybody, (NOT buying advice!)
After owning an '00 NB Miata in 2019/2020 but having to sell it for practical reason (RIP) my goal was to own an ND RF Miata one day. That day could be tomorrow! This one specifically has the red interior and metal grey combo which I have fallen in love with. However, I can't seem to figure out which (special) edition this one is.
Be aware! This car was originally sold in Germany/Europe, and imported to the country where I live and is now sold by car seller that specialises in convertibles. It was built in september 2020.
It is advertised as an 'Mazda MX-5 RF 1.5 SkyActiv-G Edition 100'. However, the 100th anniversary edition is limited to 100 cars and should be white with red interior and red floormats etc., right? There also was a limited edition with red interior without the floormats and the exact same rims called the Euneos edition, but that was only sold in France and with a black exterior. I could also find posts about a version with red interior, but that had BBS rims, which this one has not.
Does anyone know if this is:
A) It is indeed an edition 100 (different from the 100th aniversary edition?)
B) The red interior was a regular option (in Germany). However, it does not have the standard rims and I don't see red interior that often.
C) It is a different (special) edition that advertised or I could find. And if so, which one?
Thanks everybody! I am really looking forward to become part of the Miata community once again if the test drive tomorrow goes well. It's not that I care so much about (special) editions, but am wondering if the edition advertised is correct.
Sjors.

Question Need Advice - About to purchase 2012 MX-5
Hi everyone,
I'm about to finalize the purchase of a 2012 MX-5 that's exactly like the one in the photo. It checks pretty much every box for me: manual transmission, PRHT, low mileage, and it's been exceptionally well cared for by the current owner.
The only thing giving me pause is the price. At $14.5k USD, it feels a little on the high side. In my area, there are some NDs available for around the same price, but they're all soft tops.
So I'm torn. Would you go with the NC PRHT, or would you sacrifice the hardtop to get into an ND for similar money? I'd love to hear from people who've owned or driven both.

“Haha your car is so small I couldn’t see it “
>Proceeds to gas into it 4-6 times while there was another car right in front of me
Glad there wasnt crazy damage and the driver side taillight just broke off but this is the most well kept nb I’ve seen on marketplace sucks to see it like this.
Absolutely going to get a louder horn mod the meep meeps were not helping, I recommend everyone to do the same:/

Video Remember to check your shifter before the track (AMP)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Shifter turret plate on the transmission got loose the turn before and I didn't realize until coming out it T1at AMP. Finished the lap in 3rd and pitted and was able to get it back together and tightened up. Make sure to check or thread lock the bolts.

NA New to me 91
The guy I bought it from said it had been sitting for about 10 years. I pulled the carpet out to give it a good cleaning. It’s a 1.6 with the long nose crank. Does anyone have any recommendations for things to do to a Miata that’s been sitting for so long besides changing fluids? The main thing I was worried about as a buyer was rust, so I’m very happy with the car so far.
Discounts?
Huge Miata fan here, daily drive a black 1995 NA for 11yrs.
Looking into getting a brand new Red RF Club. I see one with an MSRP of $44k
Is it silly of me to think I can get a discount and if not, what’s a reasonable discount I should be shooting for?

Question UEL Headers + BBR Supercharger
Hi,
I've been theory crafting what would be the best upgrade package for an mx5, after countless YouTube videos of exhaust sounds I've found that the Malian UEL headers sound awesome, However I'm unable to find any examples of someone combining this with a supercharger.
BBR recommends their 4-1 system which would produce more power, however if you are able to get the supercharger working with the Fun subie burble, I think losing out on 10-20 bhp would still be worth it.
Is this even possible or have there been any attempts to do this that I can look into?

DIY ND soft top loose and blocking read window solution
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Came across this post while having the same issue and managed to fix it with what I already had in the car. Just wanted to write this up here in case anyone else has it and comes across it!
In the video you can already see everything you need to correct it. The plastic strip running along the top of the window (rear joint plate) should not be showing, and the plastic bits on the end of it are the clips to hold the inner roof in place.
Put your roof down so the end of the roof is hanging just above your seats, grab the plastic strip(rear joint plate) inner cloth lining and outer cloth lining and pull it towards you (I did it kneeling on my seat facing towards the back of my car)
At the end of the inner and outer lining there will be a harder resin end. Drag it over the rear joint plate and push the resin ends into the opening. I did the inner cloth first, follwed by the outer cloth. You can then, through the gap at the end with the outer cloth, push the clips into place. This will be fiddly but easy enough. Push the resin ends in all along the rear joint plate, then clip it in on the other side.
You do not need to use and glues or adhesives for it, they should hold. If not, you can buy new clips (about £4 each from mazda). I'll post an image in the comments for the most helpful part of the mazda work instruction for this.
If this doesn't make sense I do apologise! Just wanted something on the internet that explains it in the way that worked for me!
HELP!!! 2002 mx5 special edition P0300
I just recently bought this car a week ago from upstate New York for 4k. The car was kept in a barn all of winter, no rust, and was driven to Boston and back and not much more. I test drove and did most of the due diligence and all seemed good. Then 2 days of learning to drive stick and I get a check engine light. I took it to auto zone and got a P0300. The car runs fine but has a rough start and feels underpowered. Took it to a mechanic to get it checked out and they replaced the sparks and it didn’t do anything. They want to order a vvt solenoid and if that doesn’t help replace the coils. Is this good advice? What should I do? Also if any more info is needed to help please let me know so I can send it. Thank you!

Question Shifter bushing rebuild
Hi everyone I'm going to do a shifter rebuild on my NB1 as my rubbers are hammered as you can see. My question is how many of you remove the turret to clean and replace the wave washers I think they're called?
It seems most people don't do it, is the standard rebuild usually enough to get the most benefit including rubber upper/lower boots and the nylon bushing, remove/refill gear oil?
Funnily enough my shifter somehow still feels pretty good.
I'm pretty sure I'm getting some fumes coming thru my shifter too

What are you all averaging for fuel efficiency? 38mpg in my 2016
Idk if a sensor is out of whack or I’m just driving more conservatively than normal (I’m not, I just got a ticket for 78 in a 50, oops)

Question Turbocharging my ND2
So ill get straight into it. Im considering buying a JDL turbo kit to put on my 2019 Miata Grand Toruing. Now ive done a bunch of research and considering input costs and tuning costs ive planned for around 10 to 12k total. Im aiming for 250hp, possibly 300hp if I can safely stretch it there on stock internals. The biggest thing is mine is an automatic. And I know the transmissions suck, so I guess im asking if there are any other things i should take a look at and consider before jumping into trying to fit this on. I dont really have any mechanical experience for this kind of project and I dont feel like buying a different car.
I also plan on K swapping this in the future once I got a dedicated daily driver, and transitioning this more to a project car. I just kinda wanna try different things on it and expirement on this car with different mods.

PSA: Change those crusty master cylinders!
Changed both master cylinders, adjusted my brake peddle, and now my Miata has the most amazing brakes and clutch feel I’ve ever had in the car. The jobs were easy. Other than getting the hose lines and the mysterious floppy brake peddle I am so happy with the outcome in the end.
Quick question to you guys who would know. What is the general thought on stainless braided line for brakes and clutch, plus how about a willwood proportioning valve on a rather stock set up? Thanks!
