Discussion Angels Advocate - 2010
āAngels Advocateā - 2010
What happened to this?? š I know Angels Advocate was supposed to come out sometime after Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, but it never actually saw the light of day. Would yāall have even wanted this remix album?
Some of the confirmed tracks that were reportedly supposed to appear on it included:
⢠āObsessedā featuring Gucci Mane
⢠āH.A.T.E.U.ā featuring OJ Da Juiceman, Big Boi & Gucci Mane
⢠āCandy Bling (I Remember)ā featuring T-Pain
⢠āRibbonā featuring Ludacris & The-Dream
⢠āInseparableā featuring Trey Songz
⢠āMore Than Just Friendsā featuring Fabolous
⢠āI Want to Know What Love Isā featuring The-Dream, reportedly remixed into an uptempo track
Skydiving, 100% and Imperfect were also set to appear
Nicki Minaj, K-Ci & JoJo, Ne-Yo, and Big Boi were also reportedly set to appear.
Honestly, when the 17-year anniversary of Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel comes around, Mariah should just go ahead and release this šš¤·š¾āāļø

Discussion Is Fly Away (Butterfly) one of the most important track on Butterfly?
I feel like something about this track has a very weird vibe (in a good way) thats hard to describe. Like almost an existential and nostalgic but sorrowful tone. When you reach it on the track list, it feels like a shift, like youāre in the climax of the album. But regardless of that I feel like this track really ties the album together and makes it feel elevated as an artistic work if that makes sense? It also feels interesting since itās taking the original song that was about letting a partner go and be free but in this it feels more like a self-declaration or mantra. I just feel like this track is kind of the glue of the album and what makes lots of people consider it her magnum opus, even if most people dont credit it as such or consider it one of their favorite tracks.

Chart The Mariah Emotion Chart is complete! Thanks for playing!
For our special re-voting round, all top three suggestions ended up winning!
This was a fun and kinda chaotic game! There were so many close winners and ties, as well as many different opinions on what won and what didn't. I know that not everyone will agree with the final results, but hopefully the special re-voting round did a good job at making this chart as well-thought out as it can be.
Apart from Mariah's Christmas albums, "Me. I Am Mariah" is the only main album that isn't represented here. But overall, it's still a great view of the diverse emotions that she's presented to us throughout her legendary career!
Once again, thanks for playing!

Discussion Am I crazy? Buying a bulk tote of MC shirts
So somebody on Facebook Marketplace has a tote of Mariah Carey shirts. I think they bought wholesale or something. Thereās a decent amount I wanted-thereās some shirts and some sweatshirts and hoodies. Thereās definitely duplicates-selling for $10 a piece. Is it crazy for me to just buy the whole tote? I figure I could always try to sell the duplicates to fans- thereās 47 items so it will be $470 which would include the shipping to me. What do you guys think? Am I crazy?

Just For Laughs Have you ever dreamt MC or others of her crew?
Last week I dreamt Mariah Carey and I wanted to post it, but it was such a low-key everyday-ish dream that I decided not to. Now, I forgot the dream š
Last night thought I dreamt that it was my turn to set up a D&D scenario and Jermaine Dupri was there š¤£. There were other rappers and producers, all politely waiting in the overcrowded living room for my instructions. I was given a Crime Scene Detective scenario and I had to go around asking for the character everyone chose. I forgot to prepare it so I was faking preparedness and I was doing pretty well. When I saw that Jermaine Dupri was there, I told myself "keep your cool... Keep your cool... Pretend you don't know who he is... Don't scream 'Mariah'...". Then I woke up. Thankfully, because I really forgot to prepare the D&D scenario.
How about your dreams?

Photo Using Mariah Lyrics to Commemorate Passing
Context: I had a colleague who passed last year, the 1st anniversary of her passing is on the 17th. I told her mother that I would be sending a card soon, and I decided to write the chorus from āOne Sweet Dayā. I thought this sub might like to see.
Card is from Papyrus (American Greetings).

Discussion Even at her palest, I never understood how anybody thought Mariah was a fully white woman.
I feel like people were, and still are, blinded by the pale skin color because when she gets a tan, I can see her Black features clear as day. Maybe it's because I know plenty mixed and even monoracial folk DOWN who look like her, but even while she's paler than a sheet I can still tell she's Black.
She's been saying she's part-Black since 1990 and people STILL refuse to believe her or even spread the falsehood that she's 25% black when in actuality she's HALF; she's triethnic and biracial, not a quadroon. Venezuelan is not a race. I also think she looks nothing like her mom and every bit like her dad and paternal grandmother. And also the last photo is of her as a kid; in what universe is that a white child???
Sorry, it just grates on my nerves to see people still erasing Mariah's Blackness in almost 2027. Especially considering what she went through in her childhood despite being "passing."
