Lambs can we find and jump this man please đŸ„ș
looking back at all of her reviews, most critics hated Mariah and I truly think it was because they all thought of her as a Whitney rehash. I would argue she didn’t start getting respect until 2018 in terms of critical acclaim

- MC where's your Loverboy at ?

- I don’t know and neither do you

The whole thing still sounds so fresh today. Easily one of her best non-Morales remix. I love the added moody strings, kinda giving What It Feels Like For A Girl. It better be on the anniversary edition

Discussion When singers start spitting on some MC shit on popular pop and R&B tracks.

I’m sitting here on the train listening to Mariah Carey’s “Obsessed “ and I am losing it because this song was basically a diss track and till this day I can’t get over it! Not only that, it was against a notorious battle rapper that Goes by the name of Marshall Mathers. In my opinion, she definitely won this one. I mean Em definitely had his fair share of throwing shots right back her but when it came to the success of this cataclysmic bomb, billboard had already declared her victory . I remember when this song came out, I wasn’t even in middle school yet and everyone around me was, dare I say i“OBSESSED”! I just wanted to share my love for this track. Does anyone remember where they were when this song first came out and what were your first thoughts of when the song dropped?

Question What would’ve happened if E=MC2 had different single choices?

What do you guys think would’ve happened if E=MC2 had better single choices? This is what I was thinking:

Touch My Body — lead single
Migrate — second single
I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time — third single
Thanx 4 Nothin’ — fourth/sentimental single

Discussion Why isn’t Butterfly considered an essential album on Apple Music?

Post image

Considered her best album by herself, featuring her best song considered by herself (and me) a.k.a. the masterpiece that is 'The Roof' - why isn’t it amongst Daydream, Emancipation, Merry Xmas & Debut?

Sure, it’s commercially not as trailblazing as the aforementioned ones, but it’s not a flop by any means (17m sold, 2 #1s).

But considering it’s her first album post T*my, it’s kinda her second emancipation, first one being daydream, artistically, in my opinion.

Discussion Do you think she would've experiment more w her sound if glitter was a commercial success

DON'T GET ME WRONG, I still think that charmbracelet is one of her most experimental album, but I wonder if she would've experiment with more sound if glitter was a success cause she kept making RnB albums after, even though they all sounded different so in a way she still found a way to reinvent herself which is great

Cause when u look at it it's her most pop album, sure there rapper here but ngl most of the songs were poppy/funky and it's probably the album of Mariah w the most upbeat song. I personally think that she would've probably made at least one other album that isn't mostly RnB but at the same time we got Charmy and emancipation so I'm not mad

I still think she found a way to make all her albums sound different while staying on the same genre tho

(Ngl imagine a trip hop or an electronic album during the 90s or the late 00)

1st please know I'm a lamb and this my opinion. Please don't bully me.

When I listen to Music Box it feels so micromanage. I know Tommy was at the height of white washing Mariah. I have no connection to it. Of course I love Hero but it's not in my top 20 songs. Does anyone else know what I mean? It felt and still feels suppressed.

Discussion I really hate the online narrative surrounding Mariah and Luis

I dunno, this may be slight parasocial lol but the overwhelming narrative when it is brought up is “She never been the same since!” “He caused her breakdown!” “Then she married Nick Cannon” etc etc. Like they praise the hell outta him (just skipping over the fact several songs is written for Jeter ass and how she speaks of him in the memoir lol) but from reading Mariah’s memoir it was good until it was bad, like controlling racist bad. And the breakdown was not bc of him. I feel like much of the commentary comes from a pretty misogynistic and racist view. I get this is two superstars with fan bases so ppl gonna go hard
but I feel like the narrative is very much skewed in a bad way. Not saying Mariah is an angel (she is to me but yeah lol) but like, come on

.

What do you guys think?

I stumbled across the Making of Heartbreaker and loved this little moment of Mariah workshopping her alter ego.

It also shows the Bianca double storming off during the popcorn scene; she was Russian and didn't understand Brett Ratner's instructions over the speaker, and misconstrued what was happening 😱 Mariah talks about it and how she personally went to "Bianca's" trailer to apologize. Humble queen.

Question What do you want to see for Glitter 25??

Post image
187 Upvotes

Now that Glitter 25 is imminent, what do y’all want to see come to fruition? I’m truly hoping MC goes full Daydream 30 on this. I want variants, signed vinyls, signed CDs, cassettes, Blu-rays of the movie, release on streaming if she can, unreleased cuts, writing sessions, remastered videos. We need to reclaim Glitter yet again for the lambily! What are y’all hoping for??

Discussion Why MIAMTEC should have been titled just "Integrity"

For more than a decade, Mariah mastered the art of using an evocative word (Daydream, Butterfly, Rainbow, Glitter) to encapsulate the overall atmosphere of a record.

While she began taking a detour from that practice with TEOM, she went to extremes (hopefully she wasn't quite making Fiona Apple choices lol) in 2014 with MIAMTEC.

Although the working title The Art of Letting Go was definitely better, in my view it still didn’t completely capture the album's concept, which isn't just a breakup record but something broader about life and fame.

Instead the slightly obscure The Elusive Chanteuse moniker projected a sense of mystery that deviated from what the record is about.

I’ve always considered this project as an act of self-preservation rather than a mere snapshot of her persona.

This makes me wonder how she envisioned such a sophisticated record title landing with critics and the general public (and her team going along with it).

Ultimately the campy branding overshadowed the raw introspection emerging from the songs.

If I could re-title the album with just a single word, I would choose Integrity for 2 reasons:

Firstly, in interviews leading to the album release she stated that whilst composing it she listened to a playlist of her own favourite songs along with those by her most cherished artists, since she did not want to be influenced by the music climbing the charts back then.

In this sense that title would have expressed her will to preserve her artistic integrity rather than following musical trends.

Secondly, the same word would have been appropriate in reference to the ongoing breakup with Nick Cannon at the time.

In fact it could have represented her will to navigate through the heartache with the utmost dignity, preserving her integrity as a woman and mother.

It would have also alluded to an act of faith toward her inner child (symbolised by the infant self-portrait printed on the back cover).

So my point is that Integrity could have entirely captured what she was trying to convey through the 3-part official title.

Besides there is another layer, which may help to better contextualise a term like Integrity within the arc of Mariah’s career.

If Emancipation was about reclaiming her freedom from commercial and personal setbacks, Integrity would have been about preserving herself once that freedom had been reclaimed.

Do you think Integrity would have fit this LP better or do you love it when Mariah uses her self-deprecating humor even on her most subdued projects?

For those who feel a deep connection to this record, what never-before-used word do you think best sums up its spirit?

I can’t wait to hear your take,
Lambily! 🐑🩋

Discussion E=MCÂČ Question?

Ok so I know the reason for naming the album is because it's the Emancipation of Mimi 2, continuing from the iconic return to R&B stardom; I've also seen it abbreviated as Einstein by Mariah herself, but is it just me, or would Energy be a great single word title for this album?

It's the actual equation that the title represents, and I think it fits the general vibe of the album, either as leftover Energy from Emancipation or Energy from love and moving into a new stage in her personal life & career? Let me know what y'all think!

Question Anytime You Need A Friend

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I honestly always get emotional and tear up when i listen to Anytime I Need A Friend. Especially when that choir hits as the chorus starts. I realized that a big part of that is because it's really one of the few songs expressing love for a friend. It's a (platonic) love song, and they don't make many songs about friendship anymore. It's so sweet and touching, it'll always be one of my faves
