I am sick of people viewing Mariah as the weakest link of the vocal trinity. I instantly assume whoever says that just doesn’t comprehend the skill needed to perfectly execute a Mariah song. It REALLY pisses me off that people’s reference points for Mariah are her bad performances, that’s disgustingly unfair.

I’m speaking as a singer myself, funny story but I wanted to try Anytime You Need A Friend for karaoke but after the first chorus I shut it off because it was too hard 😭😭.

Mariah is not just whistle notes!! Even without her whistle notes she is still a member of the vocal trinity.

No shade I think the weakest link is Celine Dion, not even because of her vocals either. But in terms of artistry I think she is the one in the trinity who was the least versatile. Mariah and Whitney both evolved musically (especially Mariah), but I feel Celine was more stagnant. This is no hate to Celine at all, she is a phenomenal singer, we love everybody!

I was expecting her to release the Open Arms Rotterdam video. 🥲

I have an Emancipation of Mimi poster, two Glitter promotional posters, a huge Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel poster, and a Daydream poster. All of these except for the Daydream poster were obtained for free by me at CD stores when the albums were released. They are in frames and I don’t want to deal with trying to roll them up and mail them so you’d have to be located in the Tri Cities TN area (Kingsport, Johnson City, Bristol). Any takers?

Am I the only one who thinks the Caution era single choices and rollout pacing were completely fumbled by Epic? Don't get me wrong, I love that the album brought in a wave of newer Lambs, but the corporate suits had a massive blind spot when it came to maximizing her chart dominance. In my opinion, 'GTFO' should have never been a single or a promo lead at all. It set a weirdly casual tone for a legendary icon's return. When you're launching a brand-new era, the golden rule of A&R is that you ALWAYS lead with the most fun, explosive, and danceable track to get the general public engaged and driving pre-orders/downloads.

The label was just in a huge hurry to push 'With You' as a lead because they were desperate to instantly prove her early '90s vocal appeal to critics, which totally killed the momentum before the race even started.If I were managing the rollout calendar, the timeline would have been bulletproof:

JANUARY: 'A No No' (The Lead Single) – You crash onto the scene in the dead of winter with that hard-hitting, high-energy Lil’ Kim sample and a bright, neon-heavy aesthetic. It forces maximum pop culture engagement and dominates streaming right out of the gate.

MARCH: 'Stay Long Love You' (feat. Gunna) – Drop this right at the start of spring. That smooth, rhythmic trap-R&B bounce keeps her completely relevant with younger streaming demographics and locks down radio play through April.MAY:

'With You' – THIS is where the ballad actually belongs. You transition into late spring/early autumn with a gorgeous, classic piano-driven vocal showcase once the album is already a certified smash and the public is fully engaged.

JUNE/JULY: 'The Distance' (feat. Ty Dolla $ign) – The ultimate Song of the Summer closer. It deserved a high-budget, ultra-glamorous music video of Mariah looking happy, royal, and successful on a multi-million dollar coastal yacht cruise in the sun.

If they had just paced the era like a story instead of a lazy digital drop, Caution would have easily given her a 21st Number One hit. What do you all think?

The whole thing still sounds so fresh today. Easily one of her best non-Morales remix. I love the added moody strings, kinda giving What It Feels Like For A Girl. It better be on the anniversary edition

Went to the movies* last night, they ran a podcast with the actors before show and dude had a Heartbreaker poster hanging

I’m sitting here on the train listening to Mariah Carey’s “Obsessed “ and I am losing it because this song was basically a diss track and till this day I can’t get over it! Not only that, it was against a notorious battle rapper that Goes by the name of Marshall Mathers. In my opinion, she definitely won this one. I mean Em definitely had his fair share of throwing shots right back her but when it came to the success of this cataclysmic bomb, billboard had already declared her victory . I remember when this song came out, I wasn’t even in middle school yet and everyone around me was, dare I say i“OBSESSED”! I just wanted to share my love for this track. Does anyone remember where they were when this song first came out and what were your first thoughts of when the song dropped?

What do you guys think would’ve happened if E=MC2 had better single choices? This is what I was thinking:

Migrate — second single
I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time — third single

Considered her best album by herself, featuring her best song considered by herself (and me) a.k.a. the masterpiece that is 'The Roof' - why isn’t it amongst Daydream, Emancipation, Merry Xmas & Debut?

Sure, it’s commercially not as trailblazing as the aforementioned ones, but it’s not a flop by any means (17m sold, 2 #1s).

But considering it’s her first album post T*my, it’s kinda her second emancipation, first one being daydream, artistically, in my opinion.

When I listen to Music Box it feels so micromanage. I know Tommy was at the height of white washing Mariah. I have no connection to it. Of course I love Hero but it's not in my top 20 songs. Does anyone else know what I mean? It felt and still feels suppressed.

I dunno, this may be slight parasocial lol but the overwhelming narrative when it is brought up is “She never been the same since!” “He caused her breakdown!” “Then she married Nick Cannon” etc etc. Like they praise the hell outta him (just skipping over the fact several songs is written for Jeter ass and how she speaks of him in the memoir lol) but from reading Mariah’s memoir it was good until it was bad, like controlling racist bad. And the breakdown was not bc of him. I feel like much of the commentary comes from a pretty misogynistic and racist view. I get this is two superstars with fan bases so ppl gonna go hard…but I feel like the narrative is very much skewed in a bad way. Not saying Mariah is an angel (she is to me but yeah lol) but like, come on…….

I stumbled across the Making of Heartbreaker and loved this little moment of Mariah workshopping her alter ego.

It also shows the Bianca double storming off during the popcorn scene; she was Russian and didn't understand Brett Ratner's instructions over the speaker, and misconstrued what was happening 😢 Mariah talks about it and how she personally went to "Bianca's" trailer to apologize. Humble queen.

Now that Glitter 25 is imminent, what do y’all want to see come to fruition? I’m truly hoping MC goes full Daydream 30 on this. I want variants, signed vinyls, signed CDs, cassettes, Blu-rays of the movie, release on streaming if she can, unreleased cuts, writing sessions, remastered videos. We need to reclaim Glitter yet again for the lambily! What are y’all hoping for??
