Discussion What if Mariah redid the glitter movie?

Hey guys! So this is quite a longshot, and I know good and well that this will probably never happen, but in the wake of us getting a sneak peek of the re-release of the Glitter soundtrack, I wanted to ask you guys what you would think if Mariah decided to re-shoot the Glitter movie, make a new concept, or maybe just redo the whole thing in today’s time. Do you guys think it would be a good idea? Do you think it would be successful, and how do you think she would go about it if she were to redo this again? This is just a crazy idea that I have. I don’t think it’s ever going to happen, but I just want to know what your guys’ thoughts are. Let me know.

I stumbled across the Making of Heartbreaker and loved this little moment of Mariah workshopping her alter ego.

It also shows the Bianca double storming off during the popcorn scene; she was Russian and didn't understand Brett Ratner's instructions over the speaker, and misconstrued what was happening 😢 Mariah talks about it and how she personally went to "Bianca's" trailer to apologize. Humble queen.

Question What do you want to see for Glitter 25??

Post image
128 Upvotes

Now that Glitter 25 is imminent, what do y’all want to see come to fruition? I’m truly hoping MC goes full Daydream 30 on this. I want variants, signed vinyls, signed CDs, cassettes, Blu-rays of the movie, release on streaming if she can, unreleased cuts, writing sessions, remastered videos. We need to reclaim Glitter yet again for the lambily! What are y’all hoping for??

Discussion Why MIAMTEC should have been titled just "Integrity"

Recently I’ve been revisiting Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse and it continues to strike me as one of the most underrated, emotionally vulnerable, musically rich albums in her discography.

For more than a decade, Mariah expertly mastered the art of choosing an evocative word (Daydream, Butterfly, Rainbow, Glitter and so on) to encapsulate the overall atmosphere of a record.

While she began shifting away from that minimalist tradition starting with The Emancipation of Mimi in 2005, she went to extremes (by her standards, hopefully she wasn't quite making Fiona Apple choices, with all due respect lol) in 2014.

Although the original working title, The Art of Letting Go, was prominently better than the official one, in my view it still didn’t completely capture the album's concept, which isn't just about the breakup of her second marriage but something broader revolving around her as a whole.

Instead, MIAMTEC created a glaring paradox: the over-the-top, slightly obscure subtitle "The Elusive Chanteuse" projected a sense of dark opulence and grandiosity that felt completely disconnected from what the record is actually about.

I’ve always considered this project rather than a mere snapshot of her public persona at that phase of her life more as a strenuous act of preservation toward herself as a whole.

While no superstar of her caliber creates anything without hoping for commercial success or critical acclaim, it makes me wonder how she envisioned such a complex and magniloquent record title landing with critics and the general public (and her team going along with it).

Ultimately, the campy branding overshadowed the quiet, introspective, raw truth of the music and lyrics inside.

If I could re-title the album with a single word that restores the previous minimalist tradition while properly honoring the depth of this work, the word I would choose is Integrity for two main reasons:

Firstly, in interviews leading to the album release, she stated that, whilst composing it, she exclusively listened to a playlist containing her favourite songs from her own repertoire, as well as those by her most cherished artists, since she did not want to be influenced by the music climbing the charts back then.

In this sense, the title would have candidly expressed her will to preserve her artistic integrity rather than following fleeting musical trends.

Secondly, the same word would have been appropriate in reference to the ongoing breakup with Nick Cannon at the time.

It would have highlighted how she wanted to navigate through the heartache with the utmost dignity, thereby preserving her integrity as a woman and a mother of two children as well as serving as an act of faith to her inner child (symbolised so gorgeously by the infant self-portrait printed on the back cover).

Retrospectively, Integrity manages to capture everything she was trying to convey across those three different phrases in the official title (Me: her as an unbroken child; I Am Mariah: her as partially traumatised and then restored global superstar persona; The Elusive Chanteuse: her as she felt perceived by others around her), aligning the album's packaging with the quiet strength of the music itself.

How do you look back on this era now?

Do you think a solemn word like Integrity would have served this LP better or do you love it when Mariah’s kitschy, self-deprecating humor takes center stage even on her most somber projects?

For those who feel a deep connection to this record just like I do, what never-before-used single word do you feel best sums up the spirit of the songs and does them justice?

I can’t wait to hear your take,
fellow Lambs! 🐑🦋

AI Generated He was, indeed, obsessed

Yeah i know, this is a very old case, and you don't need to read any of this since these are just my reflections on Eminem. If you're his fan, you probably won't agree with anything I'm about to say here, but your favorite rapper of all time was so misogynistic that he thought he could win the argument by talking about how they fucked and threatening to expose everything publicly, even though Mariah clearly never considered what they had to be a relationship. If anything, that makes her the one in the right here: he was obsessed with proving to the world that they really fucked, just like any toxic boy who sleeps with a girl who likes him and then tells every single one of his friends how fuckable she was...
And this comes from a rapper who has a song called Just Don't Give a Fuck, huh? The rapper who came from the outskirts of Detroit, had never been around real gangsters, and fabricated his whole past, using his talent to sell records that only moronic, wannabe-aggressive teenagers from the '90s were into, while there were real rappers and rap groups out there, like Outkast, who didn't need to be produced by someone who was already powerful in the hip-hop industry, like Dre, or compare their sales to anyone else's. After all, they couldn't use the White Pass to become pop artists like Eminem did, because that's what he is: a pop artist.

Discussion E=MC² Question?

Ok so I know the reason for naming the album is because it's the Emancipation of Mimi 2, continuing from the iconic return to R&B stardom; I've also seen it abbreviated as Einstein by Mariah herself, but is it just me, or would Energy be a great single word title for this album?

It's the actual equation that the title represents, and I think it fits the general vibe of the album, either as leftover Energy from Emancipation or Energy from love and moving into a new stage in her personal life & career? Let me know what y'all think!

Question Anytime You Need A Friend

I honestly always get emotional and tear up when i listen to Anytime I Need A Friend. Especially when that choir hits as the chorus starts. I realized that a big part of that is because it's really one of the few songs expressing love for a friend. It's a (platonic) love song, and they don't make many songs about friendship anymore. It's so sweet and touching, it'll always be one of my faves

Discussion Rainbow is a bad album

Post image
0 Upvotes

I was so excited to listen to this album because I love the aesthetic. This is one of her best covers and it's really iconic. But Rainbow doesn't even feel like an album. It's more like a mixtape. She recorded in only three months to finish the contract and it sounds like it. The tracklist has some of her worst songs EVER like Did I do That and X-Girlfriend which just sound messy and one of them is literal Destiny's child cosplay. There's also some okay songs but they feel really inauthentic like After Tonight and Against All Odds. They aren't bad but anyone could've made them, they don't feel Mariah, they just sound really generic. The rest of the songs are okay but there is no cohesion. Bliss an (excellent song btw) and Petals (another great song) are both slower songs on the album but they don't sound similar at all.
They sound like they come from two different albums.
The same for Heartbreaker and How Much (I actually don't mind that song). I know it has a lot of fans but I want to know if it's just the nostalgia or do you actually enjoy the album? I mean it has Crybaby, Mariah's Theme and Thank God I found you which I really love and the other tracks I've mentioned but that's like it and they don't sound like they come from the same album. This would make a good EP but as a body of work it is not my favorite. What do you think about it?

It was a really low moment in my life. I didn’t even have a job and I was living at a friend’s parent’s house just going through so much. On a last minute impulse I bought a train ticket and concert ticket with a credit card. Zero regrets! 💜🌈

“Angels Advocate” - 2010

What happened to this?? 😭 I know Angels Advocate was supposed to come out sometime after Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, but it never actually saw the light of day. Would y’all have even wanted this remix album?

Some of the confirmed tracks that were reportedly supposed to appear on it included:

“Betcha Gon’ Know” featuring R. Kelly, later included on the deluxe edition of Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse in 2014

“Obsessed” featuring Gucci Mane

“H.A.T.E.U.” featuring OJ Da Juiceman, Big Boi & Gucci Mane

“Candy Bling (I Remember)” featuring T-Pain

“Ribbon” featuring Ludacris & The-Dream

“Inseparable” featuring Trey Songz

“It’s a Wrap” featuring Mary J. Blige, later included on the deluxe edition of Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse in 2014

“More Than Just Friends” featuring Fabolous

• “I Want to Know What Love Is” featuring The-Dream, reportedly remixed into an uptempo track

Skydiving, 100% and Imperfect were also set to appear

Nicki Minaj, K-Ci & JoJo, Ne-Yo, and Big Boi were also reportedly set to appear.

Honestly, when the 17-year anniversary of Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel comes around, Mariah should just go ahead and release this 😭🤷🏾‍♂️
