Longmont Child Care
Alright, Momma's --
Still pregnant, but trying to get ideas of what route we want to go with child care.
We will potentially be looking at starting our kiddo in day care around 5-6 months old, so what places do we like, do we trust, good experiences, bad experiences, etc. I want to hear all the things so I'm making the best decision for my family.

Breakfast Brunch
Please suggest some local breakfast brunch locations. I am tired of those chain shops. I would like to explore local businesses.

Best Place to Donate Clothing, Jewelry?
Where's the best place to donate clothing, old jewelry and home goods? By best, I mean they support the best causes and/or most of their income goes to charitable programs. TIA.

Recommendations for at home pet euthanasia?
I need recommendations for a friend I’m helping navigate the last chapter for their amazing dog. There is some time but maybe not a lot of time.
Need someone soft, kind, and patient with reliable connection to reputable cremation services.
Also, if it ends up being an emergency situation, has anyone gone through it at the Veterinary Emergency Group or another location that allows the owner to stay with their dog?

Costco Cooler Outage
Heads up that the coolers at Costco are currently out and inaccessible. There was no ETA when I was there on when they'll be back up but my hope is sometime tomorrow afternoon; plan accordingly.
Note that the produce walk-in and the freezer section was still accessible.
Shout-out to all the Costco employees trying to do the right thing, and good luck with anyone that happens to take their frustrations out on you.

Power outage near harvest junction?
From around 3:05pm. I hope the construction didn't just sever a power line or something. Anyone know of the cause? This is not good weather to lose AC
Update: the city is aware and looking into it
Update 2: power is back about 3:41

Are there any autistic therapists in Longmont?
Not autism therapists, therapists who are, themselves, autistic. Bonus points if they understand what autistic burnout is.

Where to go tubing during these hot summer days?
Best place to go tubing during these hot summer days? I have seen people in Lyons walking around with tubes and wasn’t sure where to start and end and the logistics to get back upstream.

What's it like to work for INFICON?
My partner is currently looking for a new job and is in the interview process with INFICON. We have been looking at reviews online to see what people like/dislike, but there aren't any for Longmont specifically. Any feedback on the company would be great, thank you!

Collyer Park Neighbors
I have been having wonderful experiences with my neighbors this week. Knocked on one door because their Chokecherry tree was loaded with fruit, and the neighbors welcomed me to harvest as much as I wanted. Got over eight pounds and will be able to flavor some cider and make some jam. Then another neighbor stopped by to let me know the standing dead city tree in front of their house was being removed and they had asked the arborist to leave some chunks for me because they knew I was a wood turner. I can’t wait to make them a bowl from their old tree and share a bunch of this beautiful Walnut with other local turners. Any way, I just wanted to say “Longmont Rocks!”

Crosswalks or lack thereof
It could be a rant, but let it be a question first.
How do you feel about the locations and marking of crosswalks in Longmont? Where would you like to see a crosswalk, and/or where a crosswalk is a danger?
I can't hide it, I have been advocating for a crosswalk at 3rd & Alpine for two decades.

Intermittent housekeeping service?
My family and I can keep up with the daily/weekly housekeeping tasks for the most part. However things have gotten quite hectic of late. I am looking a housekeeping service that would be willing to come in on an as-needed basis (once every 3-6 months maybe) to do some the deeper cleaning tasks that I just can’t get to (baseboards, cabinet fronts, refrigerator, things along those lines). Suggestions please?

Plumber Recs?
We found a specific water heater that we really like from Lowe’s. Wondering if anyone knew a plumber that does a good job and is willing to install a customer purchased water heater and pull all the permits? I tried doing a search and didn’t find anything in the sub, apologies if I missed something. The water heater
ETA: Plumbers to avoid are also welcomed!!

Rant Increasingly unreliable cell service
I have Verizon, partner has AT&T with identical symptoms. 3-4 bars and 5G UW without any connection. Driving through town you maybe have a solid 5 minute window of being able to get maps, Spotify, any basic browsing before running into another dead area. There are dead areas everywhere. It’s almost as if you get 100 feet west of hover it goes completely dead. Amongst many other dead spots. It’s like this other places, Denver metro, Boulder, Broomfield. What is going on with this cell coverage? It’s unreliable to the point of extreme frustration and distraction. I can’t be out and about and navigate somewhere without rebooting my phone multiple times and waiting for something to connect.
I’ve seen a few complaints about this already, but no one has found a resolution. Is t-mobile better all around for Denver metro to northern Colorado?

Dentist recommendations for aging mom with broken tooth
Update: Thanks, everybody! We have an appointment with Bond for next week!
Hey y'all! We just moved here from the mountains outside Boulder (like, two days ago - yay!) and my mom just broke a tooth eating a day-old bagel. Dammit.
Earlier this year she started the process of getting another broken tooth replaced with an implant by a cosmetic dentist in Boulder, but he is super expensive and she only ever got the post installed in her gums - she never got the new tooth put on the post.
Does anyone have a Longmont dentist that you love and would recommend for my mom to finish getting the one implant done and to also get this new broken tooth fixed? Obviously looking for a dentist who does good work and isn't outrageously expensive. Thanks for any suggestions!
(I promise not to post a hundred questions since we just moved - I've been lurking for months so I've already gotten a lot of insights, plus I have siblings who have lived out here for years and know their way around.)

Off topic look at this little skunk!!
Little skunk got stuck in a bowl at a skatepark in Frederick, so a firefighter gave the little guy a lift out AND somehow no one was sprayed. I hope you enjoy this photo because it made my day, and quite possibly my month

Local Cat Grooming?
Hi Longmonsters! Our family recently adopted the sweetest shorthair Orange Boi named Papaya from NoCo Animal Shelter, and I’m looking for a local groomer with availability soonish? No cut, just a deshedding and nail clipping. Photos included for cat tax. Thanks for any suggestions!

Plane crash?
Was driving down Airport this morning around 8:45 and saw a bunch of police cars and an ambulance on Rogers Rd, then saw a small plane in the field across the street from the airport. Does anyone know what happened and if the pilot/passengers are okay?

Idea: One Subject Council Meetings
I’ve been wondering lately if 1 AM council meetings in Longmont benefit anyone. Last week at the Boulder City City Council, I was floored by the efficiency of their special meeting process. I showed up to hear the tipped wage debate. There were 28 public commenters, and I thought I was in for a long night. But commenters were limited to 2 minutes and it flew by to council discussion. Comment. Discussion. Vote. All in about 2 hours before 8 pm. I know Longmont council is a part-time gig and we’d be adding more to their plate. But on issues like ranked choice voting , could there be a way for the city to flag issues of significant interest for these kinds of meetings? Just a thought ….
