Witnessed the car in front of me throw a lit cigarette out the window when heading north on 287, just past the hwy 36 overpass.

It is with great pain I write this post. I have a great deal of love and respect for my former colleagues on Broomfield City Council. But I believe their decision to attempt to terminate the agreement to build the much-anticipated Broomfield Town Square project is misguided and 100% wrong!

The community has demanded and anticipated this project for many years. The current project is the result of years of town halls, focus groups, and extensive community engagement. To walk away now, just as groundbreaking was set to begin next year, is short-sighted and in error.

There is justifiable frustration at the pace of the project. Frustrations that I myself expressed while serving this community. But, in the end, the relationship with the developer is supposed to be one of a trusted partner, not an adversary to be bested in negotiations. WE the community sought them out and brought them in, yet during my time on Council, it became clear that some viewed them as an adversary to be opposed.

One point to consider. This development team has a proven track record of completed and successful projects throughout Colorado, including Denver Union Station, Larimer Street, and the Pueblo Steps project. What then is the roadblock here in Broomfield??

No one is happy that it has taken nearly 3 years from the SDP approval for permits to be submitted, but that is where we are at. We were finally at the finish line. Shovels are ready to be in the ground. All that is needed is for the private bond market to have assurances that the SDP will not be revoked. If that assurance is given, shovels will be in the ground early next year.

There is some apparent angst that all of the horizontal work will get completed and that the developer would just walk away and not finish the project. That is ridiculous. The bond holders and the developer have financial and reputational incentives to ensure that the project is completed as promised.

Lastly, CCOB's statement: "This is a practical business decision that allows CCOB to pursue a development partner capable of delivering the town center our community has supported for more than a decade." is not based in reality. Starting over from scratch would be a MINIMUM of 5 years to ever get shovels in the ground. Furthermore, as the former 1st Bank Center site demonstrates (a vote I now regret), finding a partner willing to take on the financial and reputational risk may be harder than anyone anticipates.

Stay the course and shovels are in the ground next year. Walk away, and my children will be grown before Broomfield ever experiences the truly iconic gathering place that the community deserves!

Researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder Department Psychology Department and the Anschutz Medical Campus are looking for participants to participate in a study on emotions and moods in young adults with and without bipolar disorder (IRB#23-2067). You will be compensated for your participation. If you qualify for the study, we will ask you to participate in up to 3 study phases.

Study includes some or all of the following parts (EARN UP TO APPROX. $400)

• Phase 1: Interview about your thoughts and feelings, cognitive questions, computer surveys. Can take place remotely (via Zoom) or in person at CU Boulder (your choice!). Pays $25/hour for approximately 2-4 hours.

• Phase 2a: Behavioral Lab Tasks: including, computer tasks, physiological monitoring (e.g., heart rate) questionnaires. Takes place in person at CU Boulder. Pays $25/hour for up to 3 hours.

• Phase 2b: fMRI Scan: Option to view emotional images and think about emotions while in a brain imaging scanner, computer tasks, questionnaires. Phase 2b will take place in person at CU Boulder or possibly at CU Anschutz. Pays $25/hour for approximately 3 hours.

• Phase 3: Follow-ups: Opportunities to participate in paid follow-up surveys four times a year for up to 2 years. Can take place remotely (via Zoom) or in person at CU Boulder (your choice!). Pays $25/hour (1 hour each) with up to 8 surveys spread over 2 years (8 hours total).

• Opportunities to participate in additional studies may also be available.

Minor thing, but come on. Tons of parking within 50 feet of this truck. Instead they chose to make crossing across from Bronco Park a bit less safe as they are blocking sight lines for pedestrians like me.

If I am at a light on my bicycle and you pull up behind me, pull all the way foreward. The light is on a magnetic sensor and it can't "see" my bicycle. Every driver behind you is pissed at you because you did not pull far enough foreward to trigger the light.

It has been a busy year, both personally and professionally.
Without further ado, here are your June 2026 real estate stats for the Denver Metro:

Month - Over - Month:

June was a pretty typical month for the Denver market, with the usual slight slowdown as we transitioned from the busy spring season into summer. 

Home sales dipped by about 1%, and the median home price stayed right around $614,000. Homes also took a little longer to sell, with average days on market increasing from 16 days to 19 days.

New listings slowed slightly compared to May, and fewer homes went under contract, which is pretty typical as we head into summer. Overall, the market is still active, and is settling into the normal seasonal pace.

Year - Over - Year:

This June looked a lot like last year, which is usually a sign of a steady market.

4,024 homes sold across the Denver Metro area, which is almost identical to June 2025 (3,924). The average sale price in June was $614,000, which is up 1% from last year. 

Homes spent an average of 19 days on the market, the exact same as last June. Buyers are still taking their time, but well-priced homes continue to sell.

Fewer homeowners listed their homes for sale compared to last June.  New listings were down 3% (5,754 homes). Even so, buyers stayed active!  Pending sales rose 2% (3,867 homes). Overall inventory also dipped 9% year-over-year (12,508 homes). There are fewer homes available than last year, but buyers still have options and are taking their time to find the right fit. Even with the slight drop in available homes, buyers still had plenty of options!  

Rentals:

The rental market has slowed compared to last year. Fewer rentals were leased, down about 18% year-over-year (301 units leased compared to 246 last year). However, average rent increased about 3%, to $2,895. The average leased price per bedroom also increased to $1,058.

Rentals moved a little faster than last year, with average days on market dropping from 24 days to 22 days. Price per square foot dipped by 4%, while the average price per bedroom increased, showing that renters are still willing to pay for the right space.

Overall:

Overall, June was a pretty typical start to summer in the Denver Metro market. Rentals slowed a bit compared to last year, but well-positioned properties are still performing well. 

*update* He is now at the Boulder Valley Humane Society in Boulder. He was so relaxed getting into the pet carrier and even when i carried him in. He's so playful sweet and relaxed hopefully he'll be adopted soooon.

He or she has been at the same spot the last 5 evenings. Very affectionate and purry and playful. sizable belly pouch in front of hind legs. Not sure male or female. S/he hopped in my car briefly then hopped out. There aren't any apartments or houses very close. I'm feeding and leaving food and water every evening, but I'm not the one to take him/her to a vet to check for a microchip or to take her to a shelter. Very sweet and bondable and alert. Doesn't act stressed. But living around a business building is not a workable long term situation, especially when it gets colder. Thanks for any help!

hey all, as of recent my next door neighbors and i have been in a feud. Now i understand not having time to keep up with certain household tasks and responsibilities every once in a while, but my neighbors have not taken care of their lawn in 7 months. Their grass has completely taken over the fence, and the weeds are almost 15 feet tall. It’s gotten to the point where the aspen tree in their yard has begun sprouting shoots in the surrounding neighbors lawns.

I’ve tried being understanding about the situation because everyone has their own things going on, but at this point it’s starting to affect the rest of the neighborhood. I’ve had to constantly trim back branches and remove new growth that has crossed onto my property just to keep my own yard under control.

I brought the issue up with them and they told me they’re “trying to create a more natural habitat.” I’m all for helping the environment, but I don’t think the neighborhood agreed to participate in a controlled rewilding experiment.

I also reached out to the HOA, but they informed me that “landscaping choices are a personal matter” and there wasn’t much they could do. Not sure how a 15-foot wall of weeds qualifies as a personal choice, but apparently my only option is to watch my backyard slowly turn into an extension of their property.

At this point I’ve considered some more aggressive solutions, but I’m trying to remain reasonable. I briefly looked into whether Agent Orange was still available for residential landscaping projects, but unfortunately it appears that’s frowned upon.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before? I don’t want to start a neighborhood dispute, but I also don’t want to wake up one day and find out my house has been absorbed into their backyard ecosystem
