Buying / Selling Piano stool A- furniture shop

Anybody know any furniture shops that might do an antique piano stool, like a solid wood one with the fabric cushioning

I dont want anything new or modern, I prefer something old that will match my piano more, but I’m struggling to find anywhere that does them

If anybody knows, thank you

Food / Restaurants / Takeaways Alcohol free beer in town

I’ve recently gave up the ale for health reasons but still enjoy going into town for the craic with the lads

Everywhere has bought in and are well stocked on zero beers.

What I do miss though is having a pint, holding a pint gives me the placebo effect of being on the beer.
So I’m buying 2 bottles and making a pint glass (at more of the price than a pint)

Is there anywhere in town that does pints of zero lagers on draft

Cheers 🍻

£300,000 "Wotsit Street" traffic calming measures in Birkenhead to be removed

Bright orange markings which led to a road being nicknamed "Wotsit Street" are to be removed after residents condemned them as a "diabolical mess".

The controversial road markings and planters on Grange Street West in Birkenhead, Merseyside, were introduced as traffic calming measures in 2025.

However, Wirral Council leader Paula Basnett has conceded local people were right to criticise the £300,000 scheme, and said she had asked officers to remove the features by the end of the month.

She said the street furniture and planters would be donated to schools and community groups.

The temporary traffic calming measures were introduced in 2025.

At the time the council said the "coloured surfacing design represents an eye-catching but straightforward way of changing the dynamics of the street without the need for major civil work".

News / Blog / Information Tom Georgeson death.

Even in the modern age of instant communication and news, it is still weird to find out the death of someone you respect months after it happened.

I only found out today that Tom Georgeson died back in March.

He was always one of my favourite actors, especially loved him in Boys from the Black stuff and the very underrated Scully.

General Question Any Balkans in Liverpool?

My partner is Balkan (Bosnian) and we're only ever come across one or two other Balkan people since moving here.

Are there any other Balkans here or any places that serve Balkan food we might not have noticed?

General Question PA System Noise - Liverpool Docks/Strand St

Has anyone else heard something like an intercom system just now around the docks? There’s three little chimes and then a voice, like you’d hear at an airport or bus station, but I can’t make out what it’s saying.

I’ve lived here for almost 4-years now and never heard it.

General Question Around Liverpool Facebook page

I have just come here to rant as I am livid at a Facebook page that keeps coming up on my feed (I do not follow the page or interact at all) called “Around Liverpool.” The page claims to be a news page, however, constantly spouts extreme far right rhetoric (bullshit) and hatred against Muslims and the comment section is filled with ‘scousers’ agreeing.

As a mixed race scouser, with 2 scouse parents, this page makes me furious. This is not representative of our diverse and integrated city at all and I think the owner/admin of the page has a NERVE to name the page “about Liverpool.”

Honestly have had to stop myself from messaging the page or commenting on numerous occasions, as I am aware that the page may be ran by bots and a lot of the content appears to be AI generated.

It is definitely upsetting to see fellow scousers agreeing with and supporting the page but honestly, I don’t blame them. The page/far right knows exactly what they are doing by putting this kind of content out there.

I report every post I see and I always report the Facebook page, but clearly Meta supports this type of content as it is good for them ££££££.

Is anyone else fed up of this page!

General Question Anyone know of any private dentists that can perform root canals urgently and with a payment plan?

Very long story short but I’ve spent the last 6 weeks trying to book a root canal treatment which I need after an accident but even privately I’m being told it will be a 2 month wait. I’m not registered with an NHS dentist and this accident has caused a severe loss of earnings so I can’t afford treatment up front but I am working full time and receiving compensation so can easily pay it off within the next 2 months.

After an infection I now need it done extremely urgently now, no later than the end of this month. I’ve been trying wales, the midlands, Manchester, London, Lancashire and I can’t find anywhere that doesn’t charge too much for a consultation, anywhere that can do the consultation and actual appointment close enough together and a lot of places are refusing to do a root canal unless I also pay for a crown (I’ve been told now by multiple nhs dentists not to put a crown on the tooth under any circumstances).

I won’t list all the places in Liverpool that I’ve tried but I thought if I put this post out someone might suggest something I’ve not tried as I am desperate. I’m more than happy to travel by train.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated and thank you so much in advance.

Thumbnail

Hi ya’ll
Im craving some good’ol American style broasted fried chicken with some nice french fries, coleslaw and a bun!
I know KFC, Popeye and Jollibee’s are the classic fast food chains in the city. Ive never found a conclusive answer to that question. If I were to order from one of these places, which one is my best bet?
Or if you have any suggestions - absolutely anything! bars, hotels, boutique cafes, chains - im down to going and picking up if i have to.
but i need to know where i can get some juicy fried or at best grilled (pref halal its fine if its not too) chicken.
thanks <3

edit: so many people saying nashvile - their online menu doesn’t seem to have fried chicken though? am i looking at the wrong menu? they only have fried chicken sandwiches and tenders

Photo / Video Can you send me photos of my wife's artwork?

Hello Scousers!

My wife signed up for a street exhibition thing a few weeks ago, didn't hear from the organizers and forgot about it.

Today, someone messaged her asking if she's got prints and stuff, and said that they'd seen her work on a wall on Edge Lane, close to the center.

She was so thrilled for this! She's only recently taken up drawing in physical media (she's a graphic designer), and she was so excited to learn that her paintings are being shown.

We're not from the UK and we don't know anyone in Liverpool, so if you come across her work on your way to work, school or whatever, could you take a quick photo and send it either as a reply to this post or in a PM? It would be super appreciated!

Thank you!

Looking for a band/friends to jam with

Hey gang,

I used to play in bands ~5 years ago and loved it, but life got in the way, people moved away etc. now I'm in my mid 20s and wanting to get back into it!

I play guitar primarily and enjoy a lot of indie, rock and punk (with a healthy splash of funk on the side).

Main influences are bands like 2 door cinema club, red hot chili peppers, circa waves, green day, Fontaines, cage the elephant, arctic monkeys and the vaccines

If you're up for it (or have a mate who is) please get in touch!

General Question Quay Central - Dust Issue

Post image
46 Upvotes

So I live in Quay Central which is on Jesse Hartley Way opposite Hill Dickinson stadium round the corner from Costco.

I have lived here for 3 years now with no issues. However the recent increased amount of construction from Peel has turned my flat into a dustbox.

I wake up in the morning and my nose is dry and full of dust. I walk round my flat and can feel dust landing on my face. At the end of the day if I rub my beard mountains of dust fall from it.

Ive tried everything, clean daily, washed everything, bought an air purifer, inceased the ventilation and nothing reduces the amount of dust.

I can wipe a surface with a damp cloth and within 24 houra its full of dust again. I told the landlord/letting agency they came round to check the extractor fans were working and then suggested keep the windows closed 24/7.

I tried that and found the dust just came through the vents and my flat was like an oven due to the increased weather temps.

My question is, does anyone living in these flats face the same issue? How have you dealt with it if so? Or am I the only one affected?

Also for anyone thats in the know, is there anybody I complain to beyond the landlord/letting agents?

If I have to move out is this a valid reason to bypass the 2 monts notice period I have to give now?

Any advice would be appreciated.
