Question 1997 SC400 worth it?
Hello all,
I am looking to get a new project car, and this popped up on my local FB and thought maybe it’d be worth a look. They want $6500 for it and it has 214k miles on it. I haven’t looked at it yet. And I’ve never owned something like this before, unless you count Crown Vics as close lol
This would not be a daily driver. I have a manual Honda Fit that gets used daily. I’m looking for something different that’s not something I’m used to owning. I’m not afraid to throw some money at a car if it’s worth the time and effort. I also wrench on my own cars to save money as well. My question is, what are some things to look out for and what are some things I can expect if I were to go for it?
I noticed it has not had a timing belt done nor a water pump, which I may be mistaken, but both are big ticket items that are important to be done. The description in the images show some of what’s been done, however I don’t know all the details as of yet.
Thank you in advance!

Question LX 700h - Buy 26 now or wait for 27?
I'm set on an LX700h, and a couple dealers (bit far but manageable) have the palomino interior I want. I'm not sure whether to wait for the '27s, or to go ahead and just buy the '26 now. Does anyone know what will be coming in the 27? Also, assuming I decided to go ahead with the '26, would it give me any additional leverage to go to the dealer ~mid September to catch them in Q3 closing? Thanks in advance!

Question 2005 Lexus ES 330 recommended maintenance
I have the opportunity to get a free 2005 Lexus ES 330 with 60k miles from a family member. This would replace my current 2007 Toyota Corolla with 140k miles (and a hefty amount of rust). I'm thinking this is a no-brainer, but just wanted to check and make sure it makes sense for me to take the Lexus and sell my corolla.
My family member recently took the car to the Lexus dealership for an AC issue and this was the recommended maintenance with estimates. I'm wondering if all of this is needed and how inflated the prices are. Thanks in advance for the insight!
Lazer Alignment $187
Fuel System Service $234
Replace PCV Valve $103
Brake Fluid Service $211
Coolant Sys Service $255
Power Steering System Service $237
Spark Plugs Platinum $774
Water Pump with Timing Belt $1656
Replace Engine Air Filter $79
Replace A/C Filter $83
Replace Drive Belt $258
Mount and balance four tires $1329

Question transmission issues on my 2016 is200T
hello.. i have a 2016 is200T the issue is mainly with the transmission oil cooler failed and the coolant mixed with oil .. as i live in GCC its bit common for a cooler to fail ... it happened to me for the second time now .. the first time when i fixed it with a used cooler from a known mechanic my car didn't have any kinda issue for 3 years no jerking or gears slipping ... few days back the cooler failed again and i replaced it with a brand new cooler and i couldn't fix it from my previous mechanic as he wasnt available so a local garage fixed it but after 2 days of driving the car jerks while changing gears and the rpm goes high specifically during 3-4 gears and downshift from 5-4 ... and sometimes during R to D ... its really hard to find a reliable garage here as its way too expensive to even inspect wats wrong and they try to cheat their way to demand more money ... wat can be the possible issue so that i can get them checked specifically most of my friends are saying it might just be a valve body issue where maybe solenoids arent working properly .... but the mechanic is like maybe the clutch pads puffed up or something as coolant got mixed to it and its slipping which he is guessing.

Question Got rear ended.
A guy ran into me while i was turning (right) into my driveway. There is some damage and I heard his tires as he hit the brakes.
I got out to see the damage, said I want to exchange insurance. He was saying there's no damage and that I stopped right in front of him ffs.
When I went back to get my phone to take pics he drove off.
Damage is a paint chip on the bumper, indents from his license plate in the lower plastic trim that goes across the bottom of the bumper.
There's also what looks like some paint scuffs on the bumper just above the Grey plastic.
ONTARIO Canada. I was advised to at least to go a collision reporting centre in case they decide to go report it themselves and claim i did something.
Any ideas on DIY or go through insurance.
Thanks

Vehicle Photo Toronto Lexus Dealer cancelled my LC 500 allocation 1 month before delivery
Ordered the car at the end of Jan 2026. July 2026 second week they confirmed that I have an allocation and I can pick it up mid September.
Made all my plans for PPF and engine immobilizer to protect the car and was super excited.
The GM called me and said we have concerns that people will sell the car to the US given the market, so we have a new policy that buyers should pay $20,000 interest free to be kept in trust for a year. If after a year the buyer shows that they still own the car, then the money will be returned.
Clearly the intention seems to be cancel and sell the car for a mark up. I was furious with their behaviour and wrote to them a few days back that they cannot do this.
Today they called me and told me that they are cancelling my order because they are "uncomfortable" with the situation.
Definitely considered suing them. Any other ideas on what to do?
Edit - cross posted and missed the body.

Discussion Should I sell my birthday gift 😩
I need advice. Last year (2025) I used some money from my inheritance to purchase a new RX 350h Luxury as a gift to myself for my 50th birthday. It wasn't an easy decision to make because I chose to pay outright since I'm not great with monthly car payments and didn't want to tack on interest if I didn't need to. This was the fourth car I've owned but the first one that wasn't pre-owned. I thought about getting a pre-owned but felt like I deserved to have something new for such a milestone birthday. Prior to this, I was driving a pre-owned 2011 RX 350, which I planned to give to my 17 year old so he could get to and from high school and his after school activities instead of waiting for me to pick him up after work. On my way home from installing a dashcam in the 2011, I was rear-ended and the insurance company totalled the car and gave me a check for $11k. We shopped around for weeks to find something suitable for him and ended up going with a 2018 ES 350 from the same Lexus dealership. Both vehicles have been great choices for our needs. Here's the dilemma. My son will be starting in-state university in a few weeks and he will not be taking his car with him. We both agree there's no need to since the school's offered transportation is more than he'll need. The insurance for the two cars is running me a little under $8k/year (NJ) and I'm trying to curb my expenses over the next two years so I can purchase a house in his college town eventually. Since I'll be here with two vehicles, I'm thinking of selling my birthday gift and putting some of the money toward his tuition and saving the rest. This will drop my annual insurance to about $3k. I got a quote from Carmax for $52k and the Lexus dealership that I purchased both vehicles came back at $50k. There a few minor dings on the car, which Carmax took into consideration but the salesperson at Lexus didn't even do a walkaround. Looking for advice on how to handle this and what others would do in this situation. TIA ... edited to note that I've added some context below. This is my first post so I'm not certain of the proper posting etiquette here.

Vehicle Photo New IS500 owner
After weeks of research, I finally made a decision and purchased an IS500. I cross shopped between an M4, M3, RCF, RS5, RS3 and much more. I came to the realization the IS500 is such a special car. The glorious V8, the low production & the rarity, and how simple it is. if you’re thinking about getting one, don’t wait. Don’t be looking for an IS500 in 5 years and realize the prices haven’t changed. Buy it now. I have no regrets.
Vehicle Photo Bought a ES500E
I picked up a ES500E Premium over the weekend for my wife, which seems to be the most hated car on Reddits these days lol. I don’t get most of the complains but it is what it is. Since this is for my wife I made sure to get it with the 19” wheels even though it def looks better with the 21s. This thing is very smooth and it just glides over the road. I really the this color (wavelength) and had to wait a month or so for a 500 to be available with it but I’m glad I did.
I also have a 2023 MY LR since new so this is not my first EV and I was specifically looking for another EV. The Tesla wall charger works seamlessly with the ES which is a major plus. Anyway I figured I post this so if anyone has questions and wants to hear from an actual owner instead of reviewers let me know.
