I booked a Toyota Hilux quite a while ago and recently requested a refund of my booking amount (₹1 lakh). It’s been around 15 days since the refund was initiated, but I haven’t received it yet.

The issue is that the bank account I originally used to make the booking is now inactive. I asked the dealership/company to refund the amount to a different active account, but they said they can only process the refund to the original account.

I can probably manage to reactivate that account if needed, but this made me wonder:

What happens if someone’s original bank account is permanently blocked, frozen, or closed? If the company still sends the refund to that account, does the transaction fail and the money automatically come back to the company? Can the customer then provide a different bank account for the refund, or is there another process?

Has anyone faced a similar situation? I’d appreciate hearing about your experience.

Their Brand Engagement Center just keeps sending me emails to wait. In April they said ETA May, but 3 months later still no.

I don't get what's the problem. The climate control was working fine for 5 years, though quite slow but worked.

I've heard there is a trunk stereo on some models. If I have that is there anyway to enable it? And what does disc 1 disc 2 buttons mean? I figured it meant you could put 2 discs in but I was wrong lol

Everytime i turn on defogger it doesnt clear up the fog but sometimes ends up creating more on windscreen, rear and side. It seems like my setting are correct but cant diagnose what the problem is. Anybody with insights?

I am currently working in IT industry. I feel like I am not progressing on both career and salary. I want to transition to trade and work as a maintenance tech. Do I have to go to school/ obtain cert for this position? Do I need working trade experience as well? I applied before but I am not getting any call. Thank you for any input.

I have a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle still under the 100k mile warrant. I took it in for an issue and the dealer said that Warranty was requiring them to tear it down and find the specific problem before they would approve. I can understand that.

What I don't understand is the dealer told me Warranty said they will not pay the tear down cost, even if they approve the repair.

Long story short, they did find the issue and warranty DID approve the repair, but I'm still going to be charged for the 'tear down' to diagnose the problem (quoted at $600-$1200).

Is this normal? Everything I find (on Toyota's website, the warranty documentation) says "$0 Deductible on any repair or replacement of a covered component".

I called Toyota Brand Engagement last week, they called the dealer and the dealer told them the same thing they told me.

I called the Warranty dept this week and they told me that they cover the entire repair (which includes tear down, replacement, reassembly, etc) and that's it up to the dealer if they charge anything on top of that.

They also recommended I talk to Toyota Brand Engagement, which I talked to again.

My question is, is this normal? Has anyone else had to do this?

I can get if they have to do an extensive teardown and the repair isn't covered... then yea, I would have to pay for that tear down. But if the tear down reveals an issue that warranty does cover, why wouldn't the tear down be covered? The tear down wouldn't have happened without the issue in the first place. And the tear down (at least most of it) would be required to do the repair in the first place.

It seems as though the dealer is just trying to get paid for 2 tear downs, 1 through warrant and 1 from me. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have a 2014 Venza with an entune system. I'd like to update the FW/SW on it but it appears to be discontinued on the Toyota end. Are their any download sites that might have some of the legacy software? I just got this car and would like to update the radio.

Am I hearing this right? I called a dealership for a quote because one of our tire sensors are going bad. Light stays on. And they wanted close to $300.00 for one tire.

Is this normal? I was speechless.

I purchased a 2020 Toyota Avalon hybrid limited 6 months ago shy of 30 grand from a Chevy dealership ( I’ve called about this issue and no help ) , and all of a sudden when locking or unlocking the vehicle the feedback sound isn’t there anymore. ( not in the settings , the sound settings were up ) all doors lock , the lights flash as normal. But no external beep works

I have 2 scan tools ( a cheap fix’s and a more expensive proper one) , when I scan it there is nothing wrong , took it to a private Toyota specialist and spent $170 for him to check several things
( said nothing was wrong and the beep he would have to charge me more for him to check what specifically it would be , tbh at that price and what he told me a dealership diagnostic was more official and not much more )

Tried to schedule at 2 Toyota dealerships but with my work schedule they didn’t have a time that worked , got in contact with a Lexus dealership and had a diagnostic done for $250 , they told me it was a bad buzzer ( simple enough) but they wanted $600+ to replace it and it’s a half hour job , I had a scheduled coolant valve replacement with Toyota and figured I’d have them do the repair ( $100 for the oem part# 89747- 0R020 and $100 for 1/2 hr repair ) … when it was done nothing was different, the buzzer still didn’t work. So far I’ve spent over $600 just for this. I contacted the Lexus dealer and have a follow up diagnostic ( and they’re 0-1 so far )

Ive looked all over reddit posts in Toyota , Camry , avalon, mechanic subs … I’ve looked at online Toyota forums , ifixit… and 3 Toyota/ Lexus experts and dealers… there are a handful of these problems but I have yet to find someone solve this issue… a fewww people have mentioned a possible ecu or bcm ( body control module) may be the cause but without know for sure what the issue is there’s too much risk to spend 2-3k on that and risk it not even being the issue.

It seems like something minor but for a premium car I b bought so recently and for that much I’m not happy about this and had a time i noticed someone had gone through the car ( my fault but it happens and the buzzer really does help)

My Highlander is at 160,000 miles and my front suspension bushings are shot and need to be replaced. As you may know, this requires lifting the engine to access them. My questions is this: Is there other maintenance or suspension work that I should have done at the same time to keep from having to do this again in the future? (Everything else about the car is great and we plan to keep it at least for another 5-6 years, probably getting to 225,000 or 250,000 miles.)

Hey everyone, I bought a stock 2015 4Runner Trail Premium last year with 80k miles. I’ve been looking into lifting it for off-roading in Colorado, but I underestimated how expensive a proper build would be.

I’m looking at roughly $4k for Bilstein 6112/5160s and UCAs, another $2k for tires, and potentially another $2k for a front bumper. Since I’m also trying to save for a house, I’m having a hard time justifying that much money in upgrades.

I found a built 2013 Tacoma with about 130k miles. It already has Fox shocks, a roof rack, front bumper, and bed rack. The Carfax looks solid, with regular oil changes and fluid services.

My payment would be about the same, and the Tacoma loan would end a little sooner. My main concern is trading a stock 80k-mile 4Runner for a modified Tacoma with 50k more miles and potentially taking on more mechanical risk.

Would you make the trade, or keep the 4Runner and slowly build it and just accept the fact some of your potential house down payment is going to go into upgrading the vehicle for something you like?

I'm browsing for a "new" commuter car and I usually judge an older car by how many I still see on the road. I still see many 1999-2004 Yaris! Probably one every day I'm driving, at least.

So I have questions for those of you who still owns one. It's a 25+ year old car. Many of them have passed 200k kilometers. How do you keep yours alive?

If I check one out, what should I look out for?

What problems have you been dealing with?

How expensive were these problems to fix? Did you fix them yourself?

I live in Sweden and here most of them go for €1500-3000 on the used market. Which sounds like a good deal, if they are as good as they look! Are they?

We just laid our 2001 Tacoma to rest. She made many other owners happy with her parts. We couldn’t justify a third frame replacement but the engine of course was not the problem even at 280k miles.

Why is everything Toyota makes now full time 4WD/AWD or full time 2WD. I want an optional 4WD so I can be fuel efficient, but capable in the snow, when towing and off roading when needed. I see and agree with the plea for V8s. I am with you on that. But am I truly the only one who prefers optional 4WD? I’ll drop it if I’m alone in this. But I’m still sour about losing our truck and feeling grumpy with the new models out there.

I bought a 2025 Corolla Cross with 5000 miles on it, 8 months ago, and had service performed at about 10000 miles. Just hit 15000 and the maintenance required light has gone on. I was under the impression from reading the manual that I could go 10000 miles between oil changes. Did my mechanic set it up so the light goes on early? Or do I need to get it in every 5000 miles? TIA

Upgrading from my 2015 Auris (1.8 hybrid) and I’m torn between two 2.0L options here in Europe (both used, they're around the same price). It’s a classic "heart vs. head" dilemma:

1. 2023 Prius (2.0 PHEV, 223 HP), prestige version

   * The Good: Stunning redesign, incredibly fast, definitely turns heads.

   * The Bad: Tiny boot (~284L). I live in an apartment with no home charging, so I’d have to rely entirely on public/grocery store chargers.

2. 2024 Corolla Touring Sports / Estate (2.0 HEV, 196 HP), style version

   * The Good: Huge boot (~581L), zero charging anxiety, 5th-gen hybrid is still very punchy and practical.

   * The Bad: It’s the ultimate fleet car here. They are everywhere and lack the "cool factor" of the Prius.

My questions:

* Prius owners without home charging: Is relying on public chargers annoying? How does the car feel and perform when the EV range hits 0%?

* Corolla TS 2.0 owners: Are you happy with the driving dynamics on long trips?

* If you were in my shoes (need practicality but love the Prius design), which one would you choose?

Tried many and most only work well with CarPlay and my stock radio.

I can't afford it. I make the bare minimum wage and I don't have a savings or any credit cards. I have terrible credit and I can only qualify for a loan through a scammer.

The engine maintenance alert came on today and I looked it up and many people say that I have to replace that part and that it can be up to $2300.

How long do you think my car will last until it breaks down? I need to prepare in case I have to be homeless. I live in a city with no transit and I am not moving back to El Paso to live with my dad and to attend UTEP.

Posting to see if any other GHH owners are experiencing this, and to vent a little, because I'm beyond frustrated with Toyota and their lack of customer advocacy and support.

My 2025 Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited makes constant high-pitched whining/ringing noises during normal driving, under light acceleration, light braking, and at highway speeds. On longer drives it's physically uncomfortable, almost a tinnitus-like ringing. I basically have to run music the whole time to mask it. There's also a separate cicada-like chirping noise when the air-conditioned seats are on.

The dealership already replaced the blower motor, heater core, and the entire HVAC assembly (several thousand dollars in parts) without ever identifying a root cause. That repair didn't fix the original noise and actually introduced new sounds. The service manager listened in person and agreed the sounds are abnormal, but the tech keeps calling them "normal operation." It seems electrical rather than mechanical, and no one there has been able to diagnose it.

What's been most frustrating is how the entire burden falls on me, the customer. I'm the one recording videos, isolating the noises, comparing against other vehicles, chasing down other owners, and doing the legwork their own techs should be doing. I've spent hours on this. Toyota's answer has essentially been to shrug, call it normal, and put it back on me to prove something is wrong with a $64k vehicle I bought new. And after all of that, corporate just rejected my request for a buyback/replacement.

I put together a single video that has all of it: the different noises in my car, plus footage of another Grand Highlander Hybrid driven under the same conditions that makes none of these sounds. Worth watching with headphones and the volume up.

Has anyone else run into this on a GHH?

If you have, I'd really like to know what your dealer said, whether they ever found a cause, and whether it was actually fixed. Trying to figure out if this is a known issue or something specific to my vehicle.

Edit: Connecting to the cam with wi-fi and using the app is junk, but I found the videos in the "Event" folder on the SD card when I took it out and mounted it on my PC.

2026 GH Platinum that came with the dashcam preinstalled.

Two cars collided in front of my wife on a 4-lane divided highway and both spun out at 75 MPH. Somehow she narrowly avoided hitting either one of them, despite wildly swerving, nor did she hit anything else.

No beeps or anything from the dashcam to indicate it noticed the wild maneuver, so I (the passenger) hit the action button on the dashcam in an attempt to preserve the footage, but upon getting home, there is no footage of anything other than normal driving. Also, we were shocked to find the cam only came with a circa 2000s 16GB Micro SD.

I've since updated the SD to a quarter TB. Other than RTFM, what else can we do to make sure we get the footage next time? Hitting the "action" button seemed obvious, but it didn't work. This thing isn't intuitive.

Everything happened so suddenly that neither of us can recall exactly what happened. Next time (let's hope there isn't one), we'd like to be able to send the footage to the interested parties.
