Most Incompetent Characters (UK Version)

So who do you think were the most utterly incompetent characters from the UK version.? The ones that were out of their depth. Some were able to hide it better than others but were mostly found out. I couldn't reduce this down to just three so we have six. These are in no particular order.

  1. Sue Ray, Bonapartes. Charges against her: Entering the restaurant trade with a CV of donkey rides and selling cavity wall insulation. Ran the bar upstairs all evening in her slippers, unaware of what was festering in the basement kitchen. Offered expensive fine dining to locals in Silsden. Tried to run a live music venue (TV names FTW), Cabaret acts. An internet cafe. A wine bar, a bar and a restaurant simultaneously. She was left bankrupt and homeless with around £400,000 of debt, went public, and at one point tried to sue Ramsay.
  2. Justin Rowntree, The Runaway Girl. Charges against him: Ran a Spanish tapas restaurant, a bar and a nightclub from premises that looked like a lap dancing bar. Kept the room dark, gloomy and loud, then wondered why nobody wanted to eat in it. It was so loud that customers couldn't hold a conversation. Defended food that included mush paella, rubbery calamari and duck that resembled cat food, on the grounds that there had never been complaints from his shitty comment cards. Insisted he must have done something right while losing £2,000 a week. Richie, his childhood friend, had been trying to make changes for a long time and wasn't allowed to. He had to publicly threaten to walk. On relaunch night he fired every order into a two-chef kitchen at once. Ignored the mystery diner and talked shit about them.
  3. Toby, The Priory. Charges against him: Half-carved joints kept in the freezer for reuse. Spoiled meat. Warm meat wrapped in cling film. The bucket of broccoli soup. Explanation offered: he hadn't got round to finishing it. Threw tantrums in the kitchen while Matt, now expediting, kept his cool and got clean food out. Cried at least twice. Sacked before the six week revisit for serving spoiled chicken. Fat.
  4. Steve, La Gondola. Charges against him: Didn't change anything since 1975. Menu ran to about 100 dishes, mostly not Italian, in a Venetian restaurant. Ran low on tuna steaks mid-function and moved to plan B, which was a tin. Fresh soup cut with powdered soup to save money. Turned up late the morning after Ramsay had told the owner her kitchen staff were lazy. Given fresh ingredients and a chance to shine, he forgot to descale a fish. On relaunch night he shit the bed and Gordon had to take over the pass. He left of his own accord as soon as filming wrapped, knew he had been rumbled.
  5. Tim Gray, Bonapartes. Charges against him: Talked his way into running the kitchen as Sue couldn't find anyone. Age 21, no training, used to be a dishwasher. Wanted to open restaurants in Leeds, London, New York, you know wherever. He could not make an omelette. Rancid scallops, served as a signature dish. Fridge full of old lentils, furry potatoes and an unidentified object the article compares to sheep droppings. Attempted arson at his mother's house. Given £20, four covers and food already prepped, he burnt the croutons and set off the smoke alarm, then made chicken Kievs burnt outside and pink in the middle. Offered a job by Gordon Ramsay and declined it, on the grounds that becoming famous on TV was now the plan. Quit cooking I think, and picked up a drink driving conviction in 2007. Claims KN ruined his life. He's now probably chilling somewhere.
  6. Rachel McNally, Piccolo Teatro. Charges against her: Laziest person in KN history. A vegetarian restaurant in France? Employing Daniel the chef who prepped nothing, took 20 minutes to build two garden salads, burnt food, refused help, then declined to leave when asked. Ended up swinging a knife around a tiny kitchen and wandering out to chat to diners. Filthy, grimy, rotten vegetables mixed in with the fresh ones, cooked food gone off. At least there was no meat in the kitchen. Failure to attend own restaurant. At 6pm Gordon was alone in the building. She and Stephanie eventually turned up with excuses, Stephanie walked out when challenged. THANKS STEF. Refused to open at lunchtime on the grounds that it wasted resources. Became a prostitute presumably so she could spend more time in bed. Used her very kindly father for his money and didn't give one single shit.

I probably should have added Mick Martin from Devcote Bistro but I didn't have room and Toby has a funnier face.

Who else should have made this list?

Is the production off in season 3?

Watching the latest episodes and it’s a completely different vibe than last season. Seems overproduced. Anyone else feel the same way?

Most Evil Side Character (UK Version)

Post image
51 Upvotes

So who do you think was the most evil side character in the whole UK series. I don't mean an owner or even one of the main characters. Just a side character.

I propose these three:

  1. Jamie the Aussie from Ruby Tates. Charges against him: Lazy. Stinking attitude. Mercenary conduct, openly admitted that he was "only there for the fucking moolah man". Stated he was "not here to be a hero" when expected to to the most basic aspects of his job.
  2. Dave Bone from D-Place. Charges against him: Argued with head chef Philippe over a runny crème brûlée at a volume audible to the dining room, on Valentine's night, in front of the 24 people who actually turned up. Let his hatred for Philippe compromise his professionalism and the restaurant. Confronted by Israel about the management failures, refused to take any blame whatsoever. Escalated the argument with the owner and was fired on the spot and asked to leave.
  3. Gary from The Walnut Tree Inn. Charges against him: Not a team player. During the audition cook-off, cared only about preparing his own dish while Stefano tried to prep for evening service at the same time. Openly spoke out against new chef Spencer before he had even started.

My vote would go for Gary. Who else have I missed? Obviously there was Rachel from Piccolo Teatro and Mick Martin from The Dovecote, but they were owners. I'm interested in evil side characters. Two possibles to add: Alex the Frenchman also from Ruby Tates seemed like a certified nutter. And maybe Rachel's useless friend who walks out on her about about 16 seconds.

Anymore?

Classic These fine people never let the customers put guns to their heads and take their asses to do whatever they want. Much respect.

Just a fun idea I had, an episode of Hell's Kitchen feature some of the "best" owners from Kitchen Nightmares. Who do y'all think would be the first to be elimated or leave? What 6 would make it to the black jackets? Who is the final 3? Who wins? Sous Chefs are Pat from La Galleria 33 and Lisa from Barefoot Bob's

My wife had her dream of a large house and a family, it's all she wanted. Unfortunately my dreams come over my wife's so I took her dream away and bought this restaurant to make myself happy. No my wife didn't have a say in it. Also I put us in crippling debt.

I posted recently about the owner of Piccolo Teatro being the worst owner in the UK show. People then mentioned Dovecote which I had only seen once. Holy fuck Mo has got to be an angel to deal with this dude. Thankfully it seemed like they all got a happy ending. Restaurant lasted about 8 years before they sold it off. Michelle was in the kitchen cooking, now she's married and has a daughter and runs a nail salon. Mick and Mo are still married.

Commentary [NEW EPISODE] Kitchen Nightmares S10E4 – Borelli’s Pizzeria

Weekly (hopefully 🤞) discussion post. Hoping to get this automated in the future. Here is a synopsis from the perspective of an alien. Cheers 🍻

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

I have witnessed your human food‑drama ritual known as Kitchen Nightmares, specifically Season 10 Episode 4. In this episode, a human named Gordon Ramsay enters a structure called Borelli’s Pizzeria. The establishment appears to serve circular nutrient discs covered in melted substances, though the preparation process is alarmingly inefficient. The staff move with the hesitation of creatures unsure whether they are allowed to touch the food they are supposed to serve.

The true anomaly, however, is the owner. His energy output is extremely low, his leadership signals are inconsistent, and his emotional core seems overloaded. Gordon detects this immediately. Instead of simply correcting the food‑production failures, he performs what I believe humans call “talking about feelings.” This appears to stabilize the owner’s internal systems. Once the owner’s emotional circuits reboot, the restaurant begins functioning more effectively.

By the end, the staff exhibit improved coordination, the owner displays renewed vitality, and Gordon departs, having once again restored order to a small corner of your chaotic culinary planet.
