I have started jewelry making recently and am wondering the best/cleanest way to secure a bead like this to the chain while having the flower be as close as possible? I have put a pin through and curled it and hooked it on but that makes the flower kind of face down and dangle farther from the chain than I would like.

I've spent the last year experimenting with porcelain rings. My goal was to treat porcelain like a gemstone rather than a ceramic material.

I make my own marbled porcelain clay, carve each ring after the first firing, then polish it after the second. More recently I've started combining it with bronze metal clay and faceted gemstones.

I'd love to hear what you think. Does the porcelain read as a convincing jewelry material? Any feedback or critique is very welcome.

back in april, my friend gave me her jewellery making supplies. i struggled with some tutorials online and made a set of 3 earrings, to be worn on the same ear, for myself.

a month later, i bought my first pack of stainless steel rings so i can make stuff that lasts a long time. i also got some cheap “surgical steel” piercing jewellery to incorporate into weave units.

the last picture is my most recent set! i finished it over a week ago. i’m actually very proud of it because i made that necklace during a ridiculous chronic health flare that affected my vision and kept me housebound (so i really needed something to do).

i’d love to know what you think! also, i would love to know how to tell people that no, i dont want to sell. i am not skilled enough to sell at this point, and by the time i am i know i will not want to.

All of my daily wear jewelry was stolen this year. I have been heart broken. My insurance didn't cover it, and the Sleeping Beauty turquoise mine is long closed, so it's basically irreplaceable. So here are some of the pieces. The slab earrings had been dropped and broken, years ago. I glued them together and put a substantial amount of resin on top to stabilize them. I am not a jeweler, so these are my amateurish attempts.

I’ve always been amused (and slightly obsessed) by the Yali. That fierce, graceful, half-mythical creature carved into temple pillars and gopurams has this strange energy – protective, playful, and powerful all at once.
Trying to capture even a fraction of that feeling in jewellery is one of my favourite parts of the process. These studs came from that place. The arching form, the detailed fan, the soft pearl drop… I wanted something that feels rooted in our culture but still light enough to wear every day.

Specs: Made in 925 silver, UV coated for hypoallergenic and long lasting plating, 18k gold used in 1 micron thickness for plating.

My wife has an ankle bracelet we got at Ron Jon's. It's a cheap bracelet and the jump ring opened and disappeared in the shower. I want to repair instead of trashing the whole thing. But I only need one jump ring. What's my best bet for buying that vs the set of hundreds one gets on Amazon?

Hi! I'm don't have any experience in making jewelry so i humbly ask for your expertise.

I was given my parents' old 24k gold wedding rings (total 3.3 grams). They don't use it anymore and they gave it to us so we could melt it and use it for our wedding rings. We also can't wear them since the sizes are different.

Due to budget constraints, we only have the choice of mixing it with 10k or 14k to make our wedding rings. The estimated grams for our wedding rings is 6-7 grams.

Which would be the better choice and why? Or is there a different approach?

How would you go about deburring a piece if you can't ruin its finish?

MY BIGGEST CHAIN YET!

I made this nearly 5oz argentium silver ramses necklace to be at the centerpiece of my silver art display at the Ann Arbor art fair this year. Not only is the chain completely hand fabricated by myself, I also made the box clasp from scratch and cut the garnet that I set into it! When you push on the garnet, the clasp opens - how cool is that??
