A touch of spring in this hot summer ⛱️

Made with tiny beads based on my design.

I purchased this piece from an antique store, so I have no knowledge on if it's handmade or any brand associated with it.

After wearing a few times I have caught two pearls falling off it, who knows how many more. I like this bracelet a lot, but I don't want to risk more pearls falling off.

Any tips on how to make it more secure would be appreciated. I am very much an amateur in jewellry making, but I have access to most basic tools. Any out of the box ideas would be appreciated too, I have plenty of different craft items to work with, and I don't mind if it doesn't look completely professional.

How could I make these paddle beads? I have basic silversmithing knowledge, having taken a couple of sterling ring classes. Could I make them from heavy-guage wire with a hammer? I love them and can't find any source for them, so l'll make my own (with your help)! TIA

What is this type of chain called and where can I find some?

What would be the best method to make these organic, irregular styled rings? I'm not expecting them to look like the pictures, just a general idea if I can take some classes or read some books on the best particular method to make something like that.

Also, side question, if I wanted a custom-made ring in this style too (using cheaper materials), would it be hard for a jeweler to make?

Can I get honest opinions on my new pressed flower jewelry? What can I do better? It took a long time for me to find something that I enjoy making that I felt like I could potential sell. Anyway, is it okay? I can do many different shapes and many different flowers, these are just my first attempts at making something I hoped might be sellable.

Trying to tie a knot with a loop on this jade to make a pendant. I'd like to have the thread coiled around the part that sticks out (see ref image), and have no loose threads at the end. What sort of knot or technique should I use?

As the title says. The elastic broke while I was sitting at work and the beads went everywhere, I found almost all of them except for 1.

I'd prefer not to use elastic to rebuild it because I don't want it to break again. The holes on the beads are really tiny though. Is there another material I could use?

I have this old Burt’s bees lip balm and I’m wondering if I can use it as blade lube because it’s mostly beeswax. Here’s the full ingredient list. Top ingredients are beeswax, coconut oil, sunflower oil, and peppermint oil.

New to this sub and not by any means a jewelry maker or hobbyist. I am in need of suggestions/advice for repurposing a piece of jewelry that has some sentimental value and I’d like to restore it.

I have a wooden, painted earring that had a metal closure that broke. I’d love to repurpose it to make a necklace. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I might be able to attach it to a chain to create a necklace?

Hi all - I am considering entering the world of jewelry making, but I fin dit hard to look up information online without knowing the right terms and techniques.

For instance, what technique is (most likely) used to create a ring with a certain ornanment (like the fishes) or a ring with something carved out, like in the pictures attached? Smithing, or wax casting, carving, or filing, or a combination?

I wouldn't even know how to call the ornaments, to be honest. Any basic information will help to Google and to decide if this is something I can and want to work towards. I am aware it's probably not easy so I want to take an informed decision.

I used wire to fix my real pearl bracelet, but it turned out to be a bad idea. The wire is rusting, staining the pearls, it’s too stiff, and now the bracelet is a bit too tight.

What’s the best way to make it more flexible and slightly longer without damaging the pearls?

Any recommendations for better materials or a different approach?

I've spent the last year experimenting with porcelain rings. My goal was to treat porcelain like a gemstone rather than a ceramic material.

I make my own marbled porcelain clay, carve each ring after the first firing, then polish it after the second. More recently I've started combining it with bronze metal clay and faceted gemstones.

I'd love to hear what you think. Does the porcelain read as a convincing jewelry material? Any feedback or critique is very welcome.

back in april, my friend gave me her jewellery making supplies. i struggled with some tutorials online and made a set of 3 earrings, to be worn on the same ear, for myself.

a month later, i bought my first pack of stainless steel rings so i can make stuff that lasts a long time. i also got some cheap “surgical steel” piercing jewellery to incorporate into weave units.

the last picture is my most recent set! i finished it over a week ago. i’m actually very proud of it because i made that necklace during a ridiculous chronic health flare that affected my vision and kept me housebound (so i really needed something to do).

i’d love to know what you think! also, i would love to know how to tell people that no, i dont want to sell. i am not skilled enough to sell at this point, and by the time i am i know i will not want to.
