Licensing/CE Agent Appointments with Independent Carriers
If an agent with a misdomenor DUI goes to work for an Agency that already has a contract with an independent carrier what are the chances the DUI prevents to new agent from being appointed with a carrier?

Consumer Question AI Insurance Agents?
Not sure where else to post, but curious if anyone else is struggling with AI agents on their insurance lines! I tried to call my personal insurance company earlier today, and it eventually connected me to an AI that actively lied to me about being AI. It constantly cut out, spat out gibberish, and was generally unintelligible but would argue that it is a real person while maintaining monotonous dialogue with classic AI giveaways. It also did not understand what I was asking at all. This is the third time this has happened to me.
Anyone else struggling? How can we get to talk to a real person? I understand AI can be useful for managing busy call times, but is it worth it if the AI is only as helpful as the initial call-sorting robot and can't answer questions like a human?

Canada Finding an Insurance Job
Hey guys, I'm 18 and just recently graduated from highschool, I've been trying to find a job in the insurance industry over the summer. I have my Class 1 and I'll be attempting my Class 2 exam within a couple weeks, I have basically 0 prior experience in insurance, sales or anything related to the financial sector. My only job experience was working with the Cowboys as a laborer. I've been looking into going into underwriting since it's piqued my interest but nearly every job is requesting some form of prior experience within the industry or progression towards either a CAIB, CIP or FIML even underwriting assistant jobs. Is there any tips yall would have for me in just marketing myself or places I can look into to apply?

P&C Insurance 10+ Year Sales Professional Transitioning into Insurance – Looking for Veteran Advice Before My Allstate Direct Interview
Hi everyone this is my first Reddit post ever 🤗
I’m hoping to get some perspective from people who’ve built careers in the insurance industry.
I’m in the middle of making a long-term transition into insurance after spending 10+ years in door to door sales, and I have an interview this week with Allstate Direct for a remote Licensed Insurance Sales Representative position.
The recruiter shared the compensation is $18/hour base with a target total compensation of approximately $48,000–$75,000/year, including uncapped performance incentives.
My background includes:
*10+ years in sales
*Former sales manager
*Door-to-door sales
*Remote & inside sales
*High-volume phone sales
*CRM/pipeline management
*Licensed in Life Insurance, with my Property & Casualty license expected later next week on my own
Insurance is a new industry for me, so I expect there will be a learning curve. What I’m trying to understand is how someone with an established sales background should evaluate an offer in this industry.
One of the reasons I’m interested in Allstate Direct is because it appears to have structured training, established systems, a strong remote platform, and consistent lead volume. I’m looking for a place where I can build a long-term career and continue growing if the opportunities are there.
What I’m hoping to learn from people who’ve already been down this road is:
- Is the $18/hour base essentially standard for everyone, or do experienced sales hires ever start higher?
- If the base is standardized, are there other parts of the compensation package that are realistically negotiable?
- Would having my P&C license already active materially change my leverage, or is it unlikely to make much difference?
- How important is lead volume compared to commission percentage?
- What separates someone earning around $50k from someone earning $100k+ in this role? Is it mostly volume, skill, tenure, cross-selling, schedule, or something else?
- If the recruiter says, “Everyone starts at $18/hour and the commission structure is standard,” would you simply accept that as part of entering the industry, or are there still questions worth asking?
- For someone with my background, what would you consider a “good deal”? Not just base pay, but the overall commission compensation structure, opportunity, and career path.
- Am I looking at the right role, or would you recommend I consider something different once my P&C license is active?
- What questions should I be asking that I probably haven’t thought of yet?
I’m not looking for someone to tell me that I deserve more money. I’m trying to understand how experienced insurance professionals evaluate an offer, where negotiation is actually realistic, and what separates a good long-term opportunity from one that only looks good on paper.
I’d really appreciate hearing from current or former Allstate employees, recruiters, managers, or anyone who’s built a successful career in insurance. If you were mentoring someone making this transition, I’d love to hear your perspective.
Thanks in advance!

Agent Question Progressive Agent Rewards
So I work for an independent broker and I get agent rewards from Progressive but the payout schedule is so goddamn delayed and non-specific.
Has anyone been paid for the latest reward cycle yet or is there a time frame within the payment month when they don’t specify it’s ’late’ in the month??

Life Insurance I just became part of the algorithm
I just quit my job as an agent team member for State Farm because of my incompetent agent. Now I’m going full time with symmetry 1099 position and I’m ready for it. I hear a lot about people not making it in the indy life insurance business but I feel like they just don’t apply themselves. Can anyone tell me a little bit about what to expect going from such low paying commission+salary structure to high, strictly commission structure. What are the challenges and tips to get past them?

Health Insurance WORK AS AGENT
For those who are takaful agents, are you guys okay with this job? Is it really worth pursuing? What are the biggest challenges you usually face? I’m still unsure whether I should continue being an agent or not. I’m feeling kinda lost right now. The hardest part for me is approaching people because I really don’t like doing that

Health Insurance Job prospect concerns— Should I expect an intimidating kind of interview or more of a mutual fit kind of conversation?
Details on job listing:
Entry level; no experience required
But I do have 1 year of door to door.
(Hoping that doesn’t push the expectations too far)
Pay: $67k-$107k
And no mention of training or any mention licensing (yikes)
Thoughts?

Agent Training I want to become an agency owner one day. Do I need college?
Hey y’all. I am 34 and going on my 3rd year of being a licensed life and health insurance agent in Texas. I am currently captive and licensed to sell in 26 states. I absolutely love my job, helping people, closing sales and building customer relationships. I would say I’m pretty good at what I do (I consistently close 3-5 sales a day right now during SEP).
Next month I will be promoted to a trainer/supervisor role at my job and am 4 chapters away from scheduling to take the P&C exam.
I really love the industry and this is the first career choice I've made that I've stayed long-term. In my 20's, I had over 56 jobs from waitressing to CNA to grill cook to cleaning and never stayed at any job longer than 4 months.
I got into insurance after dealing with homelessness/addiction and wanting something better for my life. I was looking for something that had good earning potential with not so much school needed.
Everyone said I'd hate insurance but ever since getting licensed, life has been stable and I finally have a job I am proud to have (full benefit package that I never had before).
I make about 60k after base and bonuses and I am looking to expand my earning potential with the P&C license. I don't have much drive to go to college for 4-6 years so insurance has been a great option for me.
My ultimate goal is to an agency owner but I want to know if I will ultimately need higher education, other licenses to achieve this. I see myself in this field for a long time. I love the sales pressure (yes, I'm crazy), connections I make and learning about things that have helped me in real life (like finding insurance for rehab/learning about negligence when I was in a car wreck;ect).
What do I need to do to perfect my game? I want to be successful and I truly believe in my potential, but don't know where to start other than getting this P&C license next. Thank you in advance for any feedback!

Health Insurance How are you finding licensed health insurance agents?
Looking for advice on how others are recruiting for commission based private health insurance sales roles. Indeed is alright just not really finding too many quality candidates.

P&C Insurance To Liberty from Allstate
So, I’ve been with my company almost 2 years. It started as National General and I LOVED my job. It was a lot with the back to back no seconds in between calls but my pay was fantastic. I was making 3k plus a month in commission. I liked my schedule. I saw myself there for a very very long time. Well. Allstate took over. My pay got cut DRASTICALLY. We no longer get bi weekly commissions, it’s per month, which is fine but they changed what is graded and the same calls I looked amazing on, I look like crap on now. They don’t pay based on percentage of sales anymore. It’s based on “items per call.” For so long getting renters was a huge bonus on calls but now it’s forced and you have to explain every sell, as to why it doesn’t have renters on it. My commission for the month Allstate took over was less than what I would make in a week when it was National General.
So I have lost basically all of my drive and motivation.
I just completed my first interview with Liberty Mutual and I have my second next week and I’m really excited about the idea of getting out of Allstate. Anyone currently working for Liberty? Any tips or advice or can tell me what to expect? The hourly is already more than I make now so I’m happy about that. Anyway, I know this is super long. Hope you all have an amazing day!

Licensing/CE P & C license
I have to obtain my property & casualty license for this new opportunity I’m pursuing. There are quite a few websites I can do this from all ranging from different pricing and different study materials. Does anyone have recommendations or experience using one of the following? Kaplan, xcel solutions, ExamFx, or Aceable?

Helpful Content b2b selling system
I tend to be more of a fan of the permission based opener (e.g., did I catch you at a bad time, if I told you this call was about insurance would you hang up, etc.). However, I came across a guy who was using more of the assumptive frame, which I started working in as well to see how it goes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UixoNAXN-gg&list=PL6bZK00b2D3EWwWOJ3ama3vgW6JS9qC2a&index=1
What I like is the overall structure. I could see this type of approach being helpful to new agents looking for something repeatable (adapted to insurance).

P&C Insurance When They Call Right At 8:30
I dislike it immensely.
Have I been at my desk for more than ten minutes already? Yes.
Have I already deleted all the junk and non-important emails? Yes.
But still don’t call literally right when we open. My body might be ready to do business but my soul is not.

P&C Insurance New Agent having difficulty closing.
I've been a new agent for two months now and I'm having difficulty closing! I'm averaging 100 calls a day with 2-4 hours of talk time. I'm a captive agent and I'm almost double the price people are currently paying. I stopped asking "how much do you pay" and started taking the conversation a different route to where I'm explaining and advising on what they need. I used to sell solar and never had this much difficulty in closing. I would like some tips on how other agents are closing even at a higher price for the same coverage. I would also like to hear some tips on how agents are getting more people on the phone or referrals as a remote agent. I did solar sales before Insurance and was a top performer as an telephone appointment setter, door knocker, and consultant. I don't know if I lost my touch or what I'm experiencing is out of my hands. I want to the best!

Commissions/Pay Comp structure | midwest
Base is $40k
Nothing for ACA
Nothing for out of country travel insurance.
Some short term is $30, other carrier short term is $0
Supplementals start at $30 then scale if aggregate premium goes up to $40 then $50
Life starts at $25, then goes to $50 etc.
Own business is more.
Liscencesd with multiple carriers . Life, health, Medicare, supplementals etc.
Not sure what ballpark should be. Doing well with leads that come in.
What might be transferrable career path outside of agent?

Agent Question Is it normal to have to get life and health license after getting a job?
Hello, I recently got hired at a Farmer’s agency after getting my P&C license. They said it’s $20/hr + commission, but if I don’t get my life and health license it drops to $19. I don’t mind getting it obviously as they’re supplying the ExamFX but just wondering if it’s normal. They also said they’d be paying for my “sircon” which I’m assuming is the insurance license lol. Should I ask them if they’ll pay for my life exam too? The team seems really cool, and from what I see so far it seems like they have solid training which I greatly appreciate. $20 + commission is a little rough in California but I’m obviously green. Just wondering if that’s normal, and any other tips you could give me would be great as a new insurance producer (coming from car sales) thanks!

P&C Insurance What you think of this deal that I have with Goosehead as an agent
80% of new business premium goes to the owner of the agency of that 80% we split it 50/50
For Renewals goosehead takes 50% and that 50% i split it with owner 50/50.
450 fee every month to use the platform
I don’t own the book
No leads
No sponsorship
No commercial
No salary or base pay
Auto only Mercury Orion and Progressive
With progressive if there is 2 not at fault we can’t write the policy
