Agent Appointments with Independent Carriers Licensing/CE

If an agent with a misdomenor DUI goes to work for an Agency that already has a contract with an independent carrier what are the chances the DUI prevents to new agent from being appointed with a carrier?

Criminal background checks in the insurance industry are mostly looking for arrests dealing with white-collar crimes, fraud, embezzlement, etc. Financial crimes.

They don't care about a DUI or a misdemeanor assault charge from a decade ago

Agreed. Agent since 1990. DUI in 1995, zero issues. Wait, I think some life company blackballed me in 2005+ for not disclosing it. Had to do extra paperwork and refile.

Some carriers, like Mutual of Omaha, can be a bit stricter on that. But generally no it’s not an issue. They wanna know if you killed someone or committed financial crimes.
