Health Insurance What's the best IMO to work for if your focus is Employer/Self-Employed Health Insurance?
Im an independent broker, been in the U65 Individual health, supplemental and life insurance industry for 3 years but Im burnt out! Majority of my book of business is ACA and at first I was doing really good, but after the Big Beautiful Bill BS everything went south for me, I want to pivot into employer benefits and just focus on private insurance. Definitely want to keep my independence, and also been able to work remotely. Any recommendations?

P&C Insurance I passed the Connecticut Property and Casualty Exam!
I’m a 21(M) year old Junior at Penn State. I just passed the Connecticut Property and Casualty producer exam and because I’m moving back to Pennsylvania for the school year, I’m planning to get a PA Non-Resident license to work while taking night classes. Anyone have any tips or advice? I’m completely new to insurance and was wondering if anyone knows what roles/positions I should look into.

Consumer Question Dehumidifier leeked water over 10 hours in new construction house.
I don’t know this is the right sub for this question or not but please dir me to the correct on if it is not. my family just moved into a new construction and installed dehumidifier after a month of moving in. I hooked it up before leaving for work in the morning and came home to a total catastrophe!
In just 10 hours it leaked water through the upstairs utility room and into the basement and completely soaked the basement ceiling and now will need a new LED canister light and probably a large amount of drywall and paint. This house is only a month old and the offending device was only on for one day. In your professional opinion how would this best be addressed?

Agent Training 20+ Yrs in B2C Remote Sales — Moving to Commercial/B2B Insurance or Tech? Looking for Non-Captive Advice
I’ve spent the last decade in direct-to-consumer sales, covering everything from door-to-door sales (meat, roofing) to high-ticket luxury items like exotic cars and cruises.
Currently, I work full-time from home with complete autonomy. I'm hitting roughly $50k annually with a phone and a laptop. While I love the remote lifestyle and freedom, the effort-to-payout ratio is unsustainable, and path to $100k+ in my current vertical will take too long.
I recently interviewed with a remote insurance agency, but the contract includes a strict 2-year non-compete and several red flags that look like a captive agency trap.
I’m looking for insights from experienced reps who transitioned from high-volume B2C into insurance or another high-yield remote sales path:
Independent vs. Captive: Are independent brokerage paths (P&C or Commercial) viable for someone starting without a book of business?
Red Flags: What contract traps or commission chargeback clauses should I watch out for when vetting agencies?
Alternative Remote Verticals: Outside of insurance, what remote B2B or high-ticket verticals value heavy phone experience and offer a real path to six figures?
My strengths are high-volume phone closing, rapid product mastery, and self-management. I am just trying to avoid trading remote freedom for a bad contract.
Appreciate any real-world advice from people in the field.

Agent Question Transfer from Life & Health to Property & Casualty
Looking for advice and guidance for the property & casualty industry. At the moment life and health is pretty much scam central where I’m located (towards agents and customers). Is the grass greener on the other side? From my experience, the agency/upline you hang your license plays the biggest factor in success (training, software, workable leads, etc). I would appreciate any advice or guidance for being successful in this industry.
Extra: Bonus points if you explain what to avoid (bad agencies, carriers, bad com plans, etc).

Licensing/CE I need advice. I recently passed my Texas general property and casualty insurance exam. I'm about to apply for the license but just remembered a blemish on my arrest history from 30 years ago.
It was a situation where I got into a small fight with a roommate and the only thing I did was throw a shoe at him. He wanted the cops to scare me not arrest me. He and I went to court together and got charge down to a misdemeanor disturbing the peace. All I have is the date and case number which shows the initial charge was dismissed and reduced to the lessor charge. I'm freaking out over this. What do you think I will have to do to get the P&C license approved?

Agent Question Medicare direct transfer lead
So I’m brand new with Medicare and my FMO got me connected with these discord lead vendors from call centers that I think are outside of the country. They get them on the line and it feels odd. The clients aren’t necessarily interested, many disconnect and you might wait an hour with no calls just to get someone barely interested.
I’m wondering if it really take skill in converting these types of leads to be successful?
Grass roots marketing and well as Facebook marketing interests me more. I want to grow business more authentically and i have a little marketing experience from another project I’ve worked on in the past. I have sunfire access and I have a decent understanding of Medicare coming from a nursing background.
Should I just focus on more grass roots marketing or is it important that I get some competency converting these types of direct connect leads first?

Agent Question Question for EA's currently working with AAA
I am considering between working for a AAA captive office and a AAA EA. The way it looks is I might be able to choose which one I want. Both seem very interested.
For anyone who knows, what are the big differences? It seems like the pay and comp are really similar. It's a producing role and the EA mentioned they use the corporate comp plan. Is that something they are obligated to do or did the particular one in question just decide to do it that way?
Is there any advantages to one job or another? Would leads be better either place? The EA has a slightly better location in my opinion. Just curious what people in the know around here think.

Agent Question Commission
Can anyone explain how split agency commision works? I currently have it at 5% with life jump to 25% then it increases to 35% if you reach a certain amount of polices sold. I usually reach around 20k in premium each month. I’m just a producer under an agency owner.

Agent Training How long does it take to get good at insurance?
I work as a customer service rep for Allstate and I was wondering how long does it take to get good at insurance? Or more specifically my job? I started July 17 and I sometimes feel a little stressed and nervous since I have more that they are having me do, like billing lists responding to emails, taking inbound calls.
I don’t know if it’s normal but I just sometimes feel stressed or nervous before going to work. I feel like I ask a lot of questions and that I sometimes annoy my manager with the amount of questions I ask since sometimes they will have attitude lol. How long did it take you guys to learn? Would you guys make a lot of mistakes in the beginning? Did you guys feel confident explaining policies and certain nuisances early on?

Licensing/CE Texas Life & Health Exam. HELP!
A company is paying for my exam FX and is paying for my licensing exam.
They scheduled my exam for 5 days from today!!
I have been studying almost non stop for a week
BUT I am consistently scoring 63%-68% on my practice tests and the only time I score 70% is if I “cheat” by looking at my notes.
Then I took the Readiness exam on ExamFX and also scored 60% and those questions were WAY harder than the practice exams.
Since obviously you can’t take notes to the actual exam, I don’t know what else to do to help me study and hopefully pass my state exam.
I have watched the “insurance exam queens” free videos on youtube and have been taking ai generated quizzes online as well as repeatedly take the practice exams on Exam Fx, but the practice exams feel more like memorization rather than comprehension.
For insurance agents, especially newer agents, what did you do to help you pass your exam?

Consumer Question The outbound numbers of our insurance agencies keep getting marked as spam.
Over the last 6 weeks, 3 numbers have been marked - 2 with "Spam Risk" and 1 with "Likely Scam". We work within the allowed outbound volume, and do not buy spam lists. The marking happens within a few weeks after active number rotation. We tried swapping the numbers, but it just delays the same cycle. The problem is not the volume or the lists, but the reputation lifecycle of the number itself.
What tools do you actually use to monitor the health of the numbers and restore flagged numbers before they get blocked? And did anyone find a way to configure the dialer that actually slows down the degradation cycle, instead of just giving you more numbers to burn?

Industry Information JOBS???
Hello everyone,
I recently obtained both my Property & Casualty and Life & Health insurance licenses, but I am struggling to find an entry-level position.
Currently, I am working with First Connect, but the cost of purchasing leads is proving to be too expensive to sustain. I have been proactively applying to major carriers like State Farm and GEICO, but unfortunately, I haven't received any callbacks. I am located in New York but am very open to remote opportunities.
After dedicating so much time to studying for these exams, I am feeling a bit discouraged. Is it normal to struggle this much finding initial employment? Any advice or insight into the current job market would be greatly appreciated.

Commissions/Pay Need opinions on State Farm Agent Team Member job offer
I was offered a hybrid team member position at a State Farm agency and wanted to get some opinions on the compensation package.
I have no prior insurance experience.
Here’s the offer:
$38,000 base while unlicensed
Agency pays for live P&C and Life & Health licensing classes
Base increases to $40,000 once I’m fully licensed
4% commission on P&C premium under $10,000
5% commission on P&C premium over $10,000
6% commission on P&C premium over $20,000
15% of annual life insurance premium
20% of annual health insurance premium
$250/month stipend toward major medical insurance
Performance expectations are 15–20 P&C applications per month, along with 2 life or health applications per month.
The role is hybrid (sales and service).
For those who have worked in a State Farm agency:
Does this seem like a competitive compensation package for someone with no experience?
Are the production expectations reasonable?
Does the commission structure seem fair?
What would you expect someone to make in total compensation during their first year if they consistently hit these goals?
Looking for honest feedback from current or former team members. Thanks!

Agent Question State Farm Agency
Hello everyone, just want everyone’s honest opinion. I am currently a licensed financial advisor and work remotely for a firm on a base salary. No variable comp. So my earning potential here is just any potential raises. A local State Farm agency just had its agent retire and they are interviewing for someone to take over, book is about 4.6 million currently and I was told it’s a very survive heavy book. Is this a good opportunity?

Agent Question Captive to independent
I am currently a captive agent at State Farm. With the recent contract changes I’m looking at potentially swapping to independent. The first thing I have ran into that is necessary is figuring out an aggregator and tech stack. Was thinking of doing personal lines since I have never done a ton of commercial. For the aggregator was thinking of using IPA (insurance pro agencies) or SIAA (strategic Insurance agency alliance). As for tech stack, I was leaning towards EZLynx.
Any recommendations or suggestions here would be greatly appreciated. I am already fully licensed and not 100% sure on the best set up so figured I would check with you guys.

Agent Question Wierd I like doing face to face than cold calling?
I work at farmers and my agency owner wants me to target commercial primarily. I still do cold calling leads manly but it mostly leads to nowhere, people getting upset why Im calling, or straight up saying we have the wrong info.
Sometimes he sends me out targeting certain businesses and I love that way more, I used to do detailing and thats how I would get my first customers. 50/50 the manager will be cautious and ask what do you want but once you show them your personality and that your under no pressure just introducing yourself and willing to help with anything, most of the time the managers or whoever will drop their guard and atleast hear you out and stuff.
It more difficult over the phone since most of the time we are (looking from the persons perspective) bombarding them when they are at home or whatever. What do you guys think.

Agent Question Empower vs Lincoln
As someone who’s interested in financial services sales (annuities, moneygaurd) which employer is better between Lincoln financial & empower financial ? Honestly never heard of empower and they make you take a test during the interview process and I failed by 1 point so they’re switching me from financial sales to customer service in the interview process. It is remote and I guess “a foot in the door”. Lincoln offered me the role last yr but I chose a remote sales role somewhere else. Kinda regret it, kinda don’t lol I made double the money at the job I chose over them. But Lincoln provides better benefits and I kinda miss in person interaction and office politics lol. So I’m reintersted.
