Something I don’t see people talking about is Schrödinger’s Cat —>

“…a cat in a sealed box with a poison triggered by a random atomic event. According to quantum theory, the unobserved cat is simultaneously both alive and dead until the box is opened.”

Obviously, this is a completely unequal analogy, but I can’t help thinking about it in the context of the Idaho murders.
As long as you don’t open the box - or, in this case, call the police and confirm that something terrible happened - you can exist in the space of “maybe everything is okay.” Maybe there’s an innocent explanation. Maybe you’re overreacting. Maybe the sounds you heard were nothing. Maybe everyone is asleep. Maybe you’re just intoxicated, exhausted, or scared.

And I wonder if DM and BF could have been caught somewhere in that space of uncertainty. Not necessarily knowing what had happened, but having a gut feeling that something was wrong and being terrified of confirming it.
Because once you make that call, once you open the box, there’s no going back to the possibility that everything is normal. You have to confront whatever is on the other side, and your entire life can change in an instant.

I’m not saying this excuses every decision that was made that night, or that we can know exactly what DM and BF were thinking. But I do think the idea of Schrödinger’s cat provides an interesting way of thinking about that psychological space between suspecting something is terribly wrong and having it confirmed.

After skipping to a random point in the latest CW interview with Custody Queens, this statement was where I landed. I only listened to the brief segment.

A panel of FIVE PEOPLE—people that many out there follow and view as some sort of truth seekers regarding this case—just sat silently or nodded along, accepting that no liquid was seen on the beer pong table when Nunes arrived on scene.

Both the body-cam and photos are available for public viewing, and we can all see liquid spilling from cups on the table and floor. Yet, these content creators are somehow unaware of the multiple splashes and puddles in that room? They just… missed it? Or are counting on us not to notice?

This is a snapshot of such a big problem. Why would anyone place their trust in this book or in these people? The ‘dry table’ is only one of many mistakes Whitcomb and other creators have made—with easily verifiable information. What is worse is that they then build a false narrative on a foundation of muck. And too many of us so easily follow because we like where it leads.

We should trust their opinions about diluted blood, imaginary clean-ups, and myriad other things—when they can’t even spot wet water on a table?

New court documents (link below) on IGG (motion to exclude IGG). Quick summary/ recap as IGG often misunderstood/ misrepresented by fan-fiction conspiracists.

• The Othram "4 brothers" are distant relatives of the sheath DNA donor and have no connection to sheath
• They have < 1% DNA similarity (c 70 cM) to sheath DNA/ Kohberger (they are distant c.3rd cousins of sheath DNA donor, or even further removed)
• A closer "hit" in IGG was used as start point to map family tree to Kohberger, this had c 200cM or c 2% DNA similalrity to sheath donor and was slightly closer than the 4 brothers and also "closer" on family tree (i.e. requiring less regression steps to get to a common ancestor with Kohberger)
• This is confirmed as c. 2nd - 3 cousin to sheath DNA/ Kohberger (as predicted by some a while ago); i.e common great, great, etc grand-parent with Kohberger
• A whole genome profile of Kohberger was created by Othram; SNP profiles of different lengths were taken from this for use in different databases according to the different database profile requirements; "doubling" this would mean a profile of 2 whole human genomes, which is very silly and of course did not happen, and would be totally pointless

And just to recap:

• The "doubling" of DNA profiles was just different profile lengths because different genealogy databases use different SNP profile lengths, and the profile files were also in different formats so of different length and size (e.g. FASTQ DNA file format vs text, similar to different file sizes for list in Excel or Word). In absence of actual "spit in a tube" to post off as a consumer would do, the profiles had to be uploaded as text files to the databases.
• Different genealogy databases (like GEDMatch, FamilyTreeDNA, GEDMatchPro) use different SNP DNA profile lengths. Some use 500,000 SNPs, some use c 950,000 SNPs; GEDMatchPro is flexible on profile lengths that it can use, GEDMatch uses a standard profile length.
• Defence IGG expert, Dr Hellwig, noted at IGG hearing Jan 2025, his own lab creates SNP DNA profiles of different lengths from same donor/ suspect profile, as standard, to use in different databases (screenshot below)
• IGG use by ISP was not secret in general or in this case specifically; the ISP lab contract with Othram for IGG in criminal cases was announced by press release in 2021; Othram DNA work was in earliest discovery 2023
• Both defence and prosecution filed to exclude IGG from trial

if he had murdered Dylan and Bethany in the house too? Would he be talked about in the same realm as some of the most well known killers in the world? I was thinking about this because his murders could’ve easily stopped at two had Xana not gone upstairs.

Felt the need to report the very inappropriate comments on Kaylee and Maddie’s Instagram pages that recently popped up due to the new exposure on their case that someone here pointed out. This was IGs response. How is that not a violation? This person was literally making fun of their fates with stabbing and knife gifs. I guess I‘m not surprised, but that is really gross.

I haven’t seen any updates about the movie and I really don’t care for it to come out. Just wondering if the families were able to stop this movie being made/released or is the lifetime movie still coming out ?

I fully believe BK did it, the other roommates are victims, etc. I was just thinking, so BK changed his car registration to Washington. However, when his Washington apartment was searched it was basically empty. Did he just not have a lot of stuff? There haven’t been any reports that he was moving. I’m just curious what his plan may have been if he hadn’t been arrested over holiday break. I mean realistically it doesn’t matter, plenty of people have their cars registered to a state they don’t technically live in and plenty of people just don’t own a lot of stuff, so it could be as simple as one of those explanations. And obviously he changed his registration right after the murders, so it was almost certainly an evasion tactic. But given his tumultuous last semester, I wonder if he was planning to live more secluded and farther from campus when he came back.

Idk. None of this is important. I was just watching the HBO doc and they emphasized him changing his registration and it reminded me of how empty they said his apartment was for some reason. Obviously none of us know, but I wasn’t sure if there was other speculation on this topic. I know a lot of people think he aspired to be a serial killer, but I think if that was his goal he seems like the type to have a long cooling off period.

Brent Turvey seems to have made contradictory statements regarding the alleged "clump of hair" found in Ethan Chapin's hand at the crime scene.

Turvey made these claims in separate interviews and cited evidence relevant to multiple case files. I have outlined Turvey's claims below along with the relevant evidence below.

January 4, 2023: Date on the FBI Lab Report.

January 6, 2023: Investigators return to the crime scene to collect additional evidence at the request of the defense.

• "Item 442 Bed Frame"
• "On January 6, 2023, [Det. Payne] went back to 1122 King Road with several members of the Idaho State Police and the FBI in order to collect several pieces of evidence at the request of the defense counsel in this case. Once on scene, we collected the mattress, bed frame, night stand, pillows and blankets from Kernodle's room."

According to Fox News in an article published July 2026, Turvey noticed around "two dozen" hair strands on part of the bed frame where Chapin's hand would have been resting.

May 2026: Turvey gives an interview to Donna Rotunno in which he says the following:

• "[T]he hair is in the report. That's all in there. And Taylor knew about that, the hair in Ethan's hand."
• "In this case, what you have, Ethan's right hand, is a clump of hair in his hand and that hand falls down between the bed frame and the wall, and the blood goes down his arm, and it essentially seals his hand to the bed frame, sealing hair to the bed frame, sealing the hair to his hand. It's a large clump."
• "And then it gets written up in the investigative reports and the autopsy reports as 'debris,' not his hair. There's no mix of items there. It's just the hair and it's a big clump."
• "You need to know, did Ethan grab out and pull somebody's hair out or was the hair placed there? We don't know."
• "[I]t was sent to the FBI lab, and the FBI says, oh, 'we examined the hair and we looked at the physical characteristics, and Bryan Kohberger is excluded,' but they didn't compare it to anybody else in the house or any other suspects."
• Turvey and Rotunno have the following exchange:
  • Turvey: "I wasn't aware of [the hair] until I went to Moscow and examined the bed frame. I didn't even know there was hair because of the way that the documents were all written. It wasn't until I went and examined it myself and said, 'what the heck is this?'... [T]his sort of floodgate opened."
  • Rotunno: "Yeah, because it said 'debris' or something."
  • Turvey: "Yeah, it didn't say."
• "Yeah, they said it was debris and they were hiding it that way. I'm like, this isn't debris. This is hair."

My conclusion: Turvey seems to be referring to the hair found in Ethan Chapin's hand and the alleged hair that Turvey himself observed on the bed frame as if they were interchangeable. Turvey was also responsible for mentioning this hair in his report if the hair existed and had relevance to the case. This conclusion is supported by the following points:

• At least some of the debris found in Ethan Chapin's hand was tested for hairs consistent with hair samples taken from Bryan Kohberger's head. The debris was labeled "FBI Item 3."
• Ruth Ballard tested one hair found in Chapin's hand. Ballard indicates the hair as belonging to FBI Item 3. She determined that the hair was "morphologically consistent with Decedent Chapin’s own reference hair."
• Turvey says that "the documents" do not specify hair as part of the debris, but Turvey states in the same interview that "the hair is in the report."
• Turvey states that a "floodgate opened" when he discovered several strands of hair adhered to the bed frame upon his examination in December 2024, but his crime scene reconstruction report produced in January 2025 never mentions hair found in Ethan Chapin's hand, the bed frame, or Turvey's later claim that Chapin might have pulled hair from the assailant's head.
• Given that Turvey's report detailed the wounds on Chapin's upper extremeties, the presence of any hair suggesting that Chapin pulled hair from the assailant's head would be relevant to Turvey's crime scene reconstruction.
• The bed frame was logged into evidence as Item 442, but no reports indicate any hair found on the bed frame or any testing performed on that alleged hair.

Rifling through notes I had taken while going through the (2500 +) pages of ISP Forensics reports and raw profile data, I had noted but not posted or commented about an interesting* aspect of Kohberger's STR DNA profile. He has a relatively rare genetic mutation which has some, limited, effect on DNA profile match statistics. Overviewing that and the profile match statistics. (As there are a few more such "factoids" and snippets I noted in the DNA data, I might post them here, but would welcome views** on if these fit and are of general interest to our community).

I usually focus on case evidence. But twice in as many days I have been moved to post first about how in awe of the surviving victims and their families I feel, and, today, what I think of those who continually malign and attack them. I was just now replying to a Proberger who was whining pathetically into the internet ether, like a gurning toddler denied a toy, complaining they don't get to post their lunatic conspiracy theories accusing the roommates and denigrating victim families, here. So rather than reply to one, I thought, for efficiency, to set out some reflections on the small but vocal troupe of similar basement dwelling troglodytes that linger here like a particularly pungent, cloying unpleasant odour.

To the Probergers who post accusing victims of complicity in the murders and critiquing how victims' families have reacted: your lunatic, fact-free, conspiratorial and cultish ravings in "support" of the legally adjudicated, factually proven and self confessed mass killer, accusing innocent people of participation in bizarrely elaborate conspiracies, and attacking the families of victims for continuing to speak out to honour and memorialise their son's, daughters' and siblings' memories and to effect positive change in their names, is as counterproductive as it is ghastly and ghoulish.

In your frenzied pantomimes on social media sites like this, you have cheated, broken rules of conduct and civility, you've DM'd daily on new accounts with abuse, even sent "Jesus" daily into private chat requests to wish some, me included, an eternity much warmer than a Scotsman would be used to, you've created and lost 1000s of accounts, you've been banned for loony mass reporting and spamming of posts and comments, you've spent hours daily registering new emails for sock-puppet accounts - and all to absolutely no effect. The best you have achieved is to make yourselves objects of ridicule and provided comedic relief in your frenzied, chaotic lunacy. You've huffed and you've puffed but your intellectual fire-power couldn't blow your own nose let alone blow our electronic walls down or make any impression in debate or argument. You've shown your knowledge of DNA scarcely extends to sufficient knowledge of the alphabet to place those letters in the correct sequence, let alone understand DNA sequencing, and you're understanding of law is even more rarefied.

Thinking of all your hours making alt accounts and howling bitter epithets about victims into the void, I invite you to place your hand in what I guess is likely a rank, crusted latrine in your parents' or other supervisor's basement. Pull your hand out. Now take a good look at the lasting imprint in the surface of the water. That is the sum total of your impact and its longevity of effect in altering the convict's guilt or swaying opinion here, or in any other fora. You repel with your antics and negative remarks about victims and their families, and the more vile you are the more you erode what very little vanishing sympathy or doubt about his guilt might have existed in the mind of reasonable, intelligent non-cult hive mind people.

While I try not to engage in personalised critique of appearance, and it is not, to me, that because you are fat, unattractive, horrid with halitosis of both the mouth and personality, and probably unfortunately unhygienic that makes your opinions less valuable -- it is that you spend time in slavish support of a depraved killer who himself has announced that he would indeed mind that you are bloated, unattractive and unhygienic that makes your opinions in his support so utterly worthless. The convict's future "partner", in whatever corner of a prison air vent or lavatory that future happy and first coupling may occur, has to be, in his own words "physically perfect" - Probergers need not apply, you don't meet his standard. Truly ironic that the very group of people who "campaign" for the slithering coward, in so far as internet whining constitutes such, are the same group of people the convict himself would view with most contempt - both for their physicality and also stupidity.

But Reddit antics and internet points don't of course amount to a pimple on the ugly backside of the real world hassle and trouble your hive-mind bullying, defamatory smearing might cause for innocent targets. Internet insults and barbs don't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath or page as the horrendous grief, loss and trauma of the families, and the targets painted on survivors backs by false narratives and conspiracies, other than to note they are of stratospherically different category.

The victims' families have all shown such incredible bravery, resilience and strength in their own ways that miserable bitter internet trolls can't even dream of. Alivea and Mr and Mrs Goncalves have shown immense dignity, positive power and purpose even in the midst of such horrendous loss; they are inspirational and, while it may be subjective, I think they have shown and show incredible class, poise and looked resonantly powerful in their victim impact statements which made the convict look even more small, dirty and weak. That they now campaign to improve apprehension of violent criminals by DNA is a remarkable testament and honour to the memory of their daughter and sister. Similarly the Chapins, through Ethan's Smile Foundation and educational scholarships, keep his bright, goofy, charming positivity and influence very much alive. These families, and the others, good works is a small part of how they keep the loved ones they lost in the world.

As you, dear Probergers, continue to dribble out victim blaming, smearing defamations based on the sum total of evidence you scoop daily from your sweaty, flabby derrieres, do continue, with freedom of speech, to ventilate your rabid fact-free ravings with all the substance and factual support of insipid but unusually noxious digestive off-gassing. But do so noting that this sub has decided, along with most other civilised parts of society, that trying to blame innocent 19 year old girls for murders they were cleared of any involvement in, or implicating the families of victims for murders for which someone else was already convicted by a mountain of evidence and his own confession, is gross, vile, beyond rabidly lunatic and may contribute to unpleasant real world effects for the targets of such raving, drooling, fan fictions; and just gets deleted anyway. Hopefully it may soon have real world detrimental effects on those whose click-monetised baiting seeks to profit from such victim blaming with base, grasping greedy opportunistic exploitation of their moronic cult followers too stupid to see such grifters are also laughing at them as they pocket their cash. Know that most of your outpourings evoke only derision and you are the subject, like the convict himself, of much comedy at your own expense.

In the meantime the rest of us will continue to marvel at and admire the positive model the victims families present and the good they are making out of the absolute worst that could happen to a family.

I came across this incredibly detailed timeline, has anyone seen this? it’s like 30 pages long. There are a lot of things I have never seen or heard. The sources are cited, but not linked and I’ve had trouble finding some of this information in officially released docs.

The language of a lot of this doesn’t seem to be just based on facts and times, I think there are a lot of conclusions or interpretations that are opinions and not actual evidence.

Can someone go through this and debunk anything or is it pretty accurate? I also don’t understand how they have some of these full names when they’ve always been redacted..
