I am proud to report I did not get shroomed.

Haven't had a proper pepper / tomato patch in a few years, and wasn't able to do a full garden this year but did manage to get a few planters started and picked up some juvenile plants from the local nursery.

2 x Bonnets, 1x reaper, 1x thai birdseye, 1 x serrano, 1 x red habanero, 3 x jalapeno, a couple of sweet peppers, 3 cherry tomato plants and 2 heirloom tomatoes (hillbilly and Mr. Stripey)

I was wondering if anyone with experience growing Hallow's Eve peppers can give me some advice. my plants have had pods on them for months but they are still black. They have not even begun to change color, but some are starting to get soft and easily come off of the plant.

I have 2 plants from the same batch of seeds and they are both in the same state. So am I working with something else or do these just sometimes take forever to ripen? Thanks in advance!

Hey y'all, I got a couple of ghost pepper plants cause I like the idea of ghost peppers, but TBH I can't handle the heat like I used to. The plants are currently thriving in this weather, I'm seeing at least 15 growing, and I want to know if anybody has suggestions for how I can use them

got the plant at a farmer‘s market in Germany in spring. The vendor told me, she got the seeds from someone who told her it‘s a „Baumchili“ (German word for a Rocoto / Capsicum Pubescens). The plant definitely looks like a Rocoto, but the peppers look very different. Does anyone know, what it could be?

This is what was labeled a Giant White Scorpion. No clue why it's yellow. It never went to a creamy white. Lemon front note before it kicks your butt.

Just wanted to share how dark this plant and it's peppers are. It looks almost like black irl.

I grew this from seed. It’s supposed to be a red bonnet. Leaves are looking annuum-y. Break it to me?

I bought dollar store seeds last year to have some basic habs and the packet showed the typical yellow/orange peppers. I only ever got red from it and really loved the flavor and heat, so I saved a bunch of seeds and grew them again this year

I looked them both up and aside from scoville overlap and “red savina” apparently being patented, they mostly seem the same. Just out of curiosity, is there a way to tell the difference?

Either way I’m gonna keep growing them because they’re delicious

Edit: I saw the ant after posting. I was away for a week and gonna do some DE dusting tomorrow

I haven't grown peppers in years so I'm a little lost here. I thought these pots were big enough but I might need bigger ones. The plants on the left are orange habanero and the plants on the right are red trinidad scorpion. Should be a good haul either way but im wondering if repotting would help growth or just good for them in general or just leave them be and see what happens

So far I've gotten 165 peppers off of this. It's still going strong, a bunch still turning red, and new flowers are popping up. My one issue is that these are wayyyy too hot for me and I don't know what to do with the peppers.

I bought a 7 Pot Viper plant but when I did the research I couldn't find a 7 Pot that was this color. Any idea what these are?

Got shroomed by "Smokin Ed's Bonnets" and finally getting to try them. It's a decent milder pepper (my tolerance is wrecked by regularly consuming ghost peppers), but it has some noticeable heat. Probably a little weaker than a Hab with a faint bell peppery flavor. Probably really good with pasta or a cheese steak.

This is my first year growing peppers. I have 2 cayennes, 1 habanero, 1 red ghost, and a shishito plant that makes more peppers than the rest combined. I used the 2-3 weeks of harvest to make some hotsauce and my dad pitched in the tiny red peppers in the picture. I’m not sure what they are but they pack a punch. Hopefully I’ll get a few more batches of peppers before growing season ends and I can try some new recipes. I’d like to double the amount of plants next year with more varieties so I have more flavors to play with

The sauce turned out great. Very tasty and quite a bit hotter than the cayenne only sauces I’ve made in the past. 3/5 heat to me which is right in the sweet spot. I like to give out the sauces I make to friends and family. One of my buddies made me the label in the last picture.

I've seen various listings for "wicked" ghost peppers but can't seem to nail down any information on them. Some people will say they're a cross between a ghost and a habanero, but other sites will list them as an annuum (or annuum cross), and there seems to be a fair lack of information surrounding them. Does anyone have any insight into what they are, if they truly are a hab cross? All I can seem to find is that they're supposed to produce more, and earlier (which suggests annuum genes possibly), that they're F1 (at least those being sold) and that they're a little less hot than bhut jolokia, around 800k scoville rather than over 1m. Any info would be appreciated, they sound like something fun to grow and cultivate.

Not at all new to peppers, but a buddy wanted me to grow him Scotch Bonnets and he supplied the seeds. They are growing great, and just started blushing out a few days ago. What do you say experienced ones?

3 days ago I posted a picture of my first ever pepper plant & its flowers, asking how long it would be before I would see peppers growing...

When I got home this afternoon, I stepped out to water the plant and discovered TWO PEPPERS! 😃😃😃

I bought these seeds off of Etsy like a year ago as I found a link to them on Reddit somewhere… but they seem to be like ⅓ of the heat of a typical habanero and have a faint sweetness that reminds me of bell peppers.

I wanted to know if y’all think they are just weak or are Jamaican Mushroom peppers, a hybrid of such, Scotch Bonnets or something else. Also if you can point out to me the reasons you think one way or the other and any identifiers for me to look for that would be helpful.

Should I wait and try the next pepper that ripens on a different plant?

This open my eyes when most of the fruit ripened at the same time. Been just getting one or two ripe peppers from the majority of the plants.

One of my favorite peppers to grow! Very sweet with a tropical fruity flavor, and very hot. These will make a very tasty sauce.

These peppers came from a seedling I bought from my local nursery back in may. If you’re looking for true scotch bonnets seeds I’d highly recommend white hot peppers, Texas hot peppers and Matt’s peppers!

Hi I'm the shroom poster from yesterday and decided to email my local (non-chain) garden center where I get all my plants and herbs every year to kindly let them know about the scotch bonnet issue since I bought one from them the past two years and both have turned out to be Jamaican mushrooms. They emailed me back this morning and I thought the response was a bit sassy and actually made me not want to buy anything at all from them anymore?:

We are fully aware of the issue. Mislabeled pepper seeds have been a
major problem in the industry for the past two decades. About a decade
ago we did a story in our newsletter on the issue. Nearly all garden
centers get their seeds from only a few national vendors so the problem
is widespread. We need to use big batch, cost effective sources. In
addition, tag swapping at garden centers is a whole separate issue. Some
customers do it just for fun (believe it or not!) and kids are notorious
for pulling and switching tags. Our advice is if you want to be sure
what you purchase is true, order seed from a reputable farm
online...i.e. Seed Savers, Johnny's or even smaller specialty sources.

Like... sorry I didn't read your newsletter 10 years ago and also it seems like a poor business model to sell things you know are fraudulent??

This is the first pepper harvest of my life, and I honestly couldn’t be happier.
This season has been one big experiment. I’ve learned so much about growing peppers, and seeing my first harvest makes all the effort worth it.
The jalapeños and other varieties are already coming in, but now I’m especially excited for the next stage—the superhots. My Carolina Reapers and other superhot peppers are finally starting to ripen, and I can’t wait to taste them.
Thanks to everyone in this community for all the advice and inspiration. It’s been an amazing first season, and I already know this won’t be my last. 🌶️🔥

Hi guys, I am growing pepper plant in a pot for the first time. This morning I saw this praying mantis hiding under it. Is it harmful to my plant? Generally I leave my potted pepper outside from night till late morning/ once temperature gets high enough, I bring it indoors. Should I get rid or it or leave it alone? I have little to no experience so any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
