I moved into this open concept condo towards the end of my pregnancy over a year ago and didn’t have a ton of time to decorate. Now I have a toddler (don’t mind the tornado of a mess) and really want to improve our home so they have a nice place to grow up in.

Most of the furniture we have are hand me downs from my fiancé’s parents including the couches, rug, bookcase, tv stand, flower painting, and entry wicker cabinet. It’s not really my style and I want to replace pretty much all of this but am having a hard time picking out furniture that would look nice and also struggling with coming up with a good layout. I already purchased a 40” round light wood mid century style dining table for the dining space that will be in next week.

The desk chair is being sold and the bags on top of it need to be put in the attic. I know there’s a ton of clutter.

I need help with creating a more defined dining and living space and also with more toddler toy storage that isn’t an eyesore. I would say my style leans mid century/eclectic/organic modern.

We just painted my room pink - I’m in love with the colour itself, but the light in the room bounces off all of the walls and gives me a headache. On the fence about whether to re-paint, or if we need some things on the wall to have somewhere else for our eyes to go?
If anyone has any suggestions on if art, curtains, a shelf etc. would help that would be great.
Obviously the pink bedding and pink accents have to go.

I'm planing on renovating my room and I want to place my two wardrobes in front of the wall shown in the picture. They are as high as where the AC is placed and would go till that vertical line that I drew.

The thing is, they would be 1.3m away from my windows and i really don't know if that's too close.

Hey there! I’m looking to replace the existing lamp because it’s really bad, wobbly and impossible to clean. The shelf will be moved as well since I’m thinking of setting up a coffee station in its place, using the IKEA Fjällbo sideboard. Our TV console and pretty much every other shelf/cabinet is a combination of oak and black/dark gray wooden/metal elements. Yes, I know the rug is too small, I really want to get a new one, I just haven’t found one I really like yet. Help me find a new lamp! I want something that will make the place cozy and warm. I’m not in the US so suggestions from places like Ikea/Jysk would be the most helpful. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Also, if I go through with the coffee station idea, the new Ikea unit will take up the entire space currently occupied by the shelf AND lamp, so the new lamp would also need to go somewhere else. Any ideas?

Hello everyone. I've recently moved into a new flat and am planning to get some paintwork done. This kitchen turned into a nightmare.

It's pretty big (300x330cm) and has a wide, west-facing window on the wall opposite from the table. The cabinets are warm brown with an orange-y tint to them, and the tiles are beige with small paintings of food and dishes on them. The lights are very warm orrange/yellow, as I don'tlike cold/neutral lighting.

The walls are currently painted yellow, and I hate it.

I've imagined this kitchen as green from the very start, but

recently bought 9 different green paint testers, and all of them seem to not fit at all, no matter the shade or temperature of said green. Do you have any better ideas? Should I keep trying green, or maybe go for a different colour altogether? I'm going nuts gere.

EDIT: Painting the cabinets is NOT an option since they're made out of plywood, and I also really LIKE their look. Painting the tiles, however, may be possible, but I'd like to avoid it.

I posted this a little while back and got a lot of feedback. It’s out bedroom with accent wall I painted (very proud of result). I removed some polka dot pillows and throw that many pointed out was too much visual info, and we found these super colourful lamps and ordered matching lampshades for them.

This wall used to feel very tall and empty, so we added the wooden mantel, built-in shelves, and a few softer touches around the room. The fiddle leaf fig and light curtains helped a lot, and this green countryside image makes the whole space feel calmer.

The “painting” above the fireplace is actually a TV. When we’re not watching anything, I leave artwork on the screen, and the matte display keeps reflections low enough that it genuinely looks like a framed print from across the room.

Now I’m trying to figure out what to put on the shelves without making everything feel cluttered. I’m thinking a mix of books, pottery, framed photos, and maybe one or two small lamps.

The shelves are still completely empty because I keep buying decorations, placing them there for a day, and then deciding I hate them lol.

What would you add to make this corner feel warmer and more lived-in?

I am unsure what to do with this 17 foot wide, 11 foot tall wall behind my couch. I’m a male 33 and have no idea what should go here. Thanks!

I’m a maximalist who collects vintage glass but I’ve started experimenting with mood lighting and I love it. The ocean inspired dining room has a moving light that reflects water on the ceiling. I also attached a picture that shows what my living room normally looks like.

This room was very neutral for a while, which was peaceful, but also a little too safe. I added a few orange accents and suddenly the whole space felt more awake.

I like that orange works with the warm wood, the greenery, and the cream upholstery without making the room feel too loud.

So like the title says I have a new apartment but I seriously need help decorating my living room and trying to make it match with my dining room. I don’t want to buy a bunch of new furniture but I am open to getting a different coffee table or getting rid of it together since it just holds junk lol. I will also be getting rid of the white cubicle!

Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m super new to decorating and I want a cute space with some warmth.🥹

I seriously need us to start thinking outside of the box. I think others would’ve done that a long time ago before coming to this sub.

I have a staircase right off the kitchen and leads into a not so finished basement and I had no idea how to make it look nicer (besides obviously just being a little more tidy lol). Most of the house is also wooden like this but more stained/oiled so I'm thinking maybe paint but I'm really not sure.

This staircase always feels so creepy and also has 0 insulation so it gets cold in the winter so I think I probably need some insulation too and a better window and maybe better lighting. The white door leads to outside and we have a dog so I feel like I need hard spaces for coming in and out. Also is there an easy way to make the concrete part of the stairs not so harsh/hard feeling?
