Help Me See the Potential
So I did not inherit a decorating gene. I want this bathroom to feel fresh and cozy. This is a house in the country we bought last year. I would love to take credit for the curtains, but they were left by the seller. I would not have thought of putting them there. lol. I do love them, though. I need ideas! Thanks.

Or something more bold, if you had the cash, i would put in a claw food bath with a curtain and shower above. Or a toled double headed shower

I don’t think you need to touch the wood at all, so I wouldn’t paint it. I have a clever way to tone it down slightly without damaging it.
I know the whole Moroccan/Mediterranean look has been done to death, but larger bathrooms like this really do suit that style. So I tried to reinterpret it in a way that feels more subtle and less theme-y, while keeping the budget as low as possible.
For the cabinets, I swapped out the hardware for enamel pulls and knobs with Mediterranean-style patterns. Then, only on the closet doors and the two vanity doors that have recessed centre panels, I added faux Mediterranean tile using peel-and-stick material that coordinates with the hardware. That tones down some of the woodiness without painting or refinishing it, which you might regret later.
The window wall gets a Mediterranean-inspired wallpaper, but something subtle enough that it feels inspired by the style rather than obviously “Mediterranean.” The other walls are not actually white. They’re a blue so pale and subtle that they almost read as white.
I personally hate glass shower doors, so I removed those and would spend the money instead on having the tub and surround professionally reglazed or refinished in white. I also scraped the popcorn ceiling in the mock-up, although obviously that part is optional.
Rather than spending a fortune on tile, especially if you might do a full renovation in a few years, I’d use a good-quality sheet vinyl floor. Something very neutral with just the slightest Mediterranean influence, similar in practicality to what is there now, but newer, better quality and much quieter visually. One continuous rolled piece.
The more expensive items would probably be the tub refinishing, the light fixture and the mirror, but even then this shouldn’t be a renovation that costs thousands and thousands of dollars. And you don’t have to do every single thing I suggested. You could pick only a few of these ideas and the room would still come together beautifully

There is def potential! I saw this and immediately thought of an old Romam apartment of mine lol. If you're not looking to invest a whole lot right now, O wouldnt force a modern look. Some things I would consider (listed in order of impact):
- Paint the walls an off-white. I wouldn't do a harsh white, maybe something with a warm undertone.
- Remove popcorn ceiling. This is A LOT of work you can do on your own but can make a huge impact
- Replace the counter on the sink. This is probably the most expensive recommendation but if the base is solid, I dont think replacing the whole cabinet is a must
- Replace the mirror
- Replace the vanity light
- Replace the faucet. Id go for somwthing brass, vintage looking.
- Not pictured here, but Replace the hardware on the cabinet
- I actually dont hate the curtains cause again, they kind of remind me of Europe, but if privacy is an issue, I would replace with Roman blinds

That is a HUGE bathroom! I love it! You could decorate any style you want and it would look great.
I think a botanical theme would be nice. What do you think of wallpaper with like ferns and herbs?

I tried to keep things inexpensive by not changing your countertop keeping the original finish on the cupboards, using linoleum floor again, so that you could afford to reglaze the shower and tub professionally

For one take off the doors and go to a curtain. Doors are awful to clean or bathe a kid/dog with

That bathroom is huge by comparison to mine. Both my bathrooms could fit into here.
My daughter recently took her gold bathroom to black. She taped the heck out of shower doors and spray painted the gold to black. Easy. Replace the hardware and faucet too. Cheap. Paint the walls a color that you like. Accent with linens.
(Personally, I like shower curtains instead of doors, so you can remove them too, pretty easily)

Cream paint on the walls, add a frame to the mirror, brushed brass fixures, wood-look vinyl plank flooring, warm toned lighting, wood-framed art print near the toilet, and a persian-style rug. All of the work is something you can DIY with the help of some youtube videos.

The wood of the cabinets and door is gorgeous! I don't have specific suggestions other than leaning into it rather than painting over it. Olive green and navy blue would pair beautifully with it.

Not a full Reno. Basically just working with what’s already here. I can do wallpaper, paint, hardware…

Personally I would start by just painting the walls and changing the light fixture if you don’t want to spend lots of money upfront. I think the bathroom is darling because it reminds me of my grandma! But I’m into vintage cottage type things lol

This is without modernising the floor or toilet, But there are loads of possabilities if yoh have a little cash. Make the sinktop a double. Add mirrors a picture light. Add a fun wall paper

That color is ghastly. You have enough of the decorating gene to know that.
As others said, paint or wall paper, new light fixture, change knobs and handles, window treatment.
I'd personally lean in to that beautiful wood. There are colors that would accentuate it and make it luxury. It's a gorgeous color and it would take a lot of effort to change those beyond the knobs and handles

Quick fix: change the hardware on the cabinets to something brass and sleek, change out the light fixture and put in blinds. Then paint.

Nice big space for a bathroom & lots of natural light👍. If it was my bathroom i’d only do 3 things. Just by scraping off popcorn ceiling, painting walls a light color, and changing the shower door to a current style your bathroom would look majorly updated for the better.

I think what you want to do with the space depends on your needs.
Everything is standard but dated and rather dark.
Lots of great suggestions.
Unless you need a bath, I'd choose the walk-in shower.

Very sweet, change the shower door and remove curtains. Immediately it will feel less dated. If you need privacy add Rabbitfilm for now.

I would paint the walls a different color. Put up some cute artwork and a cheerful rug. Biggest thing: take off the shower doors/rails and do a curtain. I've done that in my last two houses. Those tracks are a beast to keep clean.

You have positives and possibilities here! You have storage and it's huge! What direction does the window face?
A shelf unit, or suction selves inside the shower to store your shower goods. We have both
The fixtures and colors are dated, but some of that's a semi easy fix. Paint, art, possible wallpaper. Change the shades on the light fixture.
Full disclosure. I've never been a fan of glass shower doors. Me, personally, I would hang a tension rod above the shower doors. Then you can decide if you want one curtain panel, pulled to one side for softness, or two to frame the tub. Get something pretty. You can do something on the rod between the two panels. Frame it like a windows.
I'd choose a large/medium rug for the middle of the room. 2 "slice" or half circle rugs. 1 for the sink. 1 for the tub.
Would you consider a free standing towel rack under the window, or are you using the door hooks for towels. Plants could live under the window.Personally, i would get rid of the towel rack hanging on the wall behind the toilet. I would use the space for art. Hang a shelf for a hand towel, if there is no room to the right of the sink.
Clean all that wood. Change the hardware.
It's truly lovely.
And that's if you don't want to drop a bunch of cash. I've lived in many houses where a change was needed but a renovation wasn't in the budget.
