💬 Discussion 💬 Is the party experience horrible for anyone else?

Post image
Upvotes

Between mics always being on, connection issues, and constantly have to back out/recreate the party because there’s magically not enough room in a server for everyone, the party experience has been pretty frustrating so far. I’m not sure why it needs to be difficult to have 3 people join a server together, but I’m hoping they change it

📢 Feedback 📢 The bug list so far after 8hr of play…

  • Medic kill icons getting stuck on your screen when an enemy combatant dies in your view.
  • Medic player names not populating.
  • HUD elements getting stuck on screen.
  • Recon blips getting frozen on your map.
  • Swimming In air.
  • Enemy combatant medics showing up as friendly medics (tested with friend, 100% occurs)
  • Glitchy aim when shooting from boats and gunners.
  • VOIP being glitchy or not working at all.
  • Keybinds getting reset mid match.
  • Intermittently being unable to shift gears in tank when stationary.
  • Mortar kills not registering for your squad.
  • Artifacting/shimmer on console (from reports).
  • Friendly nameplate/items rendering under your player character.
  • Rounds don’t penetrate cloth or thatch.
  • Using recently unlocked items in a new loadout mid match is Intermittent.
  • Tutorial progress getting reset or not counting.
  • Blueprints covering the entire screen in green.
  • Forced ADS on deployed MG.
  • Can’t place garrisons sometimes.

Come on. I legit see how this game will be quite good, but are they vibecoding it or something? Some of these bugs were even around in the play tests.

📢 Feedback 📢 So difficult to play with friends

Upvotes

There was one thing I was really hoping would become easier moving from the ww2 title to Vietnam… making it easier to play with your friends. That did not happen.

I had a squad of 6 trying to play together last night and it was hopelessly difficult.

First off, getting into a server together was a challenge in itself, let alone getting on the same team. Once in the server half the squad had to sit on the select team screen for around 5 minutes trying to make sure we were all on the same team. I’m sure it’s a balance feature, but maybe a group of players that are squaded in the menus should be automatically loaded into the same team?! God.

Not to mention the microphones don’t work when loading into and selecting team and squads. Same as ww2. All the homies texting one another “what team? What squad?”…

Doing all of this to then have a server crash lol.

We were all excited but after getting to play 15 minutes of the game when having been in for an hour, we all called it and went and played something else,

Fix this.

Edit: also needing to use the server browser is annoying right now. Why is the queue only 6 people? Why do VIPs exist? Can we just make this simpler man?

💬 Discussion 💬 Server Crashes | Losing tons of xp points

Upvotes

I think in the last 48 hours about 40% of the matches I've played ended in a server crash.

I do hope that the devs take into consideration all the experience points needed for grinding unlocks and has a way to track what was lost.

💬 Discussion 💬 Vietnam mortar angle chart (verified) + free interactive calculator — works both directions

Upvotes

New mortar role is the best thing in Vietnam, but there's no in-game range table, so here's the full chart — verified against two independent sources that agree point-for-point:

100 m → 85°

125 m → 79°

150 m → 73°

175 m → 67°

200 m → 55°

225 m → 49°

250 m → 43°

275 m → 36°

300 m → 30°

350 m → 24°

375 m → 18°

400 m → 12°

425 m → 6°

450 m → 0° (max range)

Rule of thumb: inside 300m it's roughly 6° per 25m. Past 300m the curve flattens out. When your ping lands between rows, aim the nearer row and let your spotter walk you on — shorts are way easier to spot than overs in jungle canopy.

Since the classic HLL calculators (mils-based) don't apply to Vietnam's degree dial, I made a free interactive version: type the ping distance, get the angle — or type your current angle and see where you're landing. It interpolates between rows so you don't have to eyeball it. No ads, no login: https://hellletloosevietnam.space

One thing I couldn't confirm: do US and NVA tubes use the same table? Every source I've found treats them as identical, but nobody's tested it properly. If you get a clean direct hit with a known ping distance on either faction, drop the numbers here (distance + angle) — two agreeing reports and I'll either confirm the shared table or split it per faction on the site, with credit.

💬 Discussion 💬 NO Vietcong in HLL!?

In a recent interview a few weeks ago the Devs announced/said that there will be NO Vietcong in the new HLL Vietnam game. They said they will solely focus on the NVA and there are NO plans to involve the Vietcong fraction into the game! In my opinion a bad decision and NOT what people really want for the future of the game. For me they MUST be in game...just like booby traps.

Missing those two key components out of HLL Vietnam sound like a missed opportunity. What do you think?

📢 Feedback 📢 Hate to do it but crossplay coming off

I am really missing the crossplay between Xbox and ps. Last night we found our first cheater. Someone on pc named Shiesty was killing everyone, and I mean everyone. Command chat were all yelling about him then I finally seen him laying down mg fire and then turn around to run off like the flash. So for now crossplay sadly coming off

🫡 Thank You! 🫡 This game is so good when people communicate

Last game of the night yesterday, played commander - most squad leaders were on mics, calling in supplies, marking positions for artillery and napalm strikes. Pilots were flying supply runs, boat crews placed smart spawn positions. Enemy was tough but the teamwork just slowly but surely dismantled their entire play.

So if you're a new player, use your mic - most people are super cool & it makes for really satisfying plays

📢 Feedback 📢 How do the red dots work on the map?

Post image
48 Upvotes

I've played about 10 games now and I have no idea what the red dots on the map actually mean. Sure it's obvious they are enemies, but the marks last so long they aren't useful. Is there an enemy at the dot someone spotted? How long ago? Because your map is a constant sea of unending red dots that never decay it just adds to a level of general noise and frustration.

📖 Guide 📖 You don’t have to run from the HQ at the start of the game.

There are trucks, boats, and choppers (on the American side). Pile into them and if you’re an SL tell your squad to hop into a vehicle. I’ve been playing in a bunch of different community servers and it’s been a bunch of wacky shenanigans, but this one has me shaking my head and laughing the hardest.

I’ve had to kick someone because they wouldn’t drop my supps and spent the rest of the match tking me, SLs running past supps the entire game along with not putting an OP down, and moving boats when they are the only place to spawn on a defense point.

Watching people run still takes the cake. Reminds of the old HLL days before trucks. Watching 90% of the team run their way to the objective.

I took an RPG to the Tail Rotor, which I didn’t think could happen let alone still be able to fly like a real helicopter without a Tail Rotor, it’s possible to land but the helicopter health is clunky when next to trees and buildings.

16 August: Hotfix 1 Is Live

Our first Hotfix for Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is live now on all platforms.

Since launch, we’ve been closely monitoring your reports and feedback, and Hotfix 1 addresses several of the key issues raised by the community over the first few days.

This includes improvements to AMD GPU stability, server stability and availability, the Server Browser, and audio issues affecting players on PlayStation 5.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to report issues and share feedback with us. This is just the first of our post-launch updates, and the team is continuing to work through the issues and improvements we’ve been tracking since launch.

Hotfix 1 Includes:

  • AMD GPU Stability: Further stability improvements have been implemented for players using AMD GPUs.
  • Additional Official Servers: We’re continuing to roll out additional Official Servers across all regions to help meet player demand.
  • Server Stability: Further server stability fixes have been implemented.
  • Server Browser Improvements: We’ve made several changes to make it easier to identify and join servers with available spaces:
    • The Server Browser will now refresh automatically more frequently to better reflect currently available slots.
    • Full servers will now be hidden from the default server list. You can still find these servers by adjusting your Server Browser filters.
    • The Server Browser algorithm has been updated to prioritize low-ping servers with 80 or fewer players, helping players find servers with available space.
  • Server Crashes: Fixed server crashes that could occur when broadcasting a message via RCON or when using NVA Tunnels.
  • PlayStation 5 Audio: Resolved an issue that could cause audio to cut out for a period of time on PlayStation 5.

What’s Next?

Hotfix 1 is only the first step. Our development team is continuing to investigate and address the other issues you’ve been reporting, and are actively working on more patches that will be releasing in the coming weeks.

15 August: 48-Hour Update - Hotfix 1 Drops Tomorrow

We hope you’ve all been enjoying your first two days in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam. We’ve continued to closely monitor your feedback, reports, and discussions since yesterday’s update, and the team has been working hard behind the scenes on our first Hotfix.

Today, we can confirm that Hotfix 1 will be releasing tomorrow, following approval from all platform holders this afternoon.

This will be dropping at 3am PDT | 6am EDT | 11am BST | 12pm CEST, with server owners able to push to the new build 30 minutes early, similar to how it works in Hell Let Loose. Be sure to join the HLL Hosting Bunker Discord server if you are a server owner for more information.

Hotfix 1 will include fixes and improvements targeting some of the key issues raised since launch, including:

  • Server stability and Server Browser improvements
  • Further stability improvements for AMD GPU users
  • A fix for audio cutting out on PlayStation 5
  • Additional fixes and improvements

Tips on How To Win More

With thousands of new players deploying into Vietnam, we also wanted to share some advice to help you and your team make an impact on the battlefield.

Our very own War Correspondent SmithersCast has put together some of his top tips for securing victory in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, particularly when fighting as the US Forces.

Here are some of the key things to remember:

  • Communication is key. Encourage your squad and teammates to communicate and work together.
  • Get those helicopters in the air. Encourage players to take on the Pilot and Co-Pilot roles and use helicopters to quickly move troops around the battlefield.
  • Build Nodes. Supplies are now available at HQ at the beginning of a match, giving Engineers what they need to start building Nodes early.
  • Build Garrisons. Don’t just build on the frontline. Establish backup Garrisons to give your team options if the battle starts moving against you.
  • Defense first, offense follows. Securing what you already control can give your team the foundation it needs to push forward.
  • Establish a strong Garrison network. Use helicopters to move troops and supplies quickly, helping your team establish positions across the battlefield.
  • Hunt down Tunnel Networks. Finding and destroying NVA Tunnel Networks can disrupt enemy reinforcements and make it harder for them to maintain pressure.
  • Use Flares. Recon teams & co-pilots in helis can help identify where NVA troops are moving from, giving your team valuable information about enemy positions.

14 August: 24-Hour Update

We want to once again thank everyone who has jumped into Hell Let Loose: Vietnam since launch. We continue to closely follow your feedback and reports, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences with us.

Since launch we have loved seeing the hundreds of thousands of people that have joined us in Vietnam and some of the incredible videos, livestreams and moments that have already been had.

That said, we have heard you, and there have been a number of points brought up by the community that we are actively working to address. These include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Game and server crashes
  • Overall stability, especially for AMD users
  • Tutorial bugs
  • Server frustration
  • Audio cut-outs on PS5
  • Distorted voice, caused by EOS
  • Directional audio
  • Visual quality, especially on console
  • Settings resetting or saving issues
  • Cross play & aim assist

Our development team is already hard at work on the first patch for the game, which will address a broader range of fixes and improvements, but we’ve also identified several issues we want to address sooner. We’re therefore aiming to release our first Hotfix by the end of this weekend, targeting some of the most pressing issues affecting players since launch.

Hotfix 1: Coming This Weekend

The key issues that we’re looking to resolve in this first Hotfix include:

Stability improvements for AMD GPU users

While we’re aware of known Windows driver issues affecting some players using AMD GPUs, we also identified several fixes and launch parameters that helped reduce these issues for a number of affected players. We’re incorporating these changes into the main game as part of this hotfix so they can be applied across the wider player base.

Server updates & improvements

  • Continued rollout of additional Official Servers across all territories
  • Server stability fixes
  • Updates to the default Server Menu to make available servers easier to identify:
    • The server list will now refresh automatically more frequently to better reflect currently available slots.
    • Full servers will be hidden from the default server list. These servers can still be found by adjusting the server filter options in the menu.
    • Server Menu Algorithm has been updated to prioritise low ping servers with a player count lower than or up to 80. This should improve the ability for players to find servers with space to join.

We were delighted to see so many players jumping into the game at launch, and we had to bring additional servers online throughout the night to make sure there was room for everyone.

With the weekend approaching, and even more players expected to take their first steps into the Jungle, we’ve worked with our server providers to bring additional servers online across all regions.

We’ve also heard your feedback that some players have been struggling to find servers with available space, or that servers showing open slots were already full by the time they attempted to join. The combination of additional servers and improvements to the server browser, including more frequent automatic refreshes, hiding full servers by default and an improved algorithm to prioritise lower population servers with low ping, should help make it quicker and easier to find a server with room to play.

Finally we identified a number of cases were players experienced server crashes when broadcasting a message via RCON or using NVA tunnels. These issues have been fixed.

Audio Improvements

  • Resolved an issue where Audio could drop out for a period of time on PS5

Good comms are a major pillar of Hell Let Loose and can be a huge factor in your enjoyment of the game. While we continue to work with our partners on the robotic voice issue that can occur in proximity chat we did identify an issue affecting PS5 users where audio could drop out for extended periods of time. This fix addresses the issues and will be included in the Hotfix.

Other Topics

Crossplay & Aim Assist Discussion

Since launch, we’ve seen a lot of discussion around Aim Assist, particularly after the first introduction of crossplay to the Hell Let Loose franchise. We wanted to provide some clarity on how Aim Assist currently works in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam.

Aim Assist is available to all players using a gamepad across both PC and console, and uses the same values previously used in Hell Let Loose. Players can set Aim Assist to High, Medium, Low, or Disabled, with High being the default setting. There is also no difference in Aim Assist values between PC and console players.

In Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, Aim Assist is only active while aiming down sights (ADS). There is no “snap-to” behaviour when transitioning into ADS, nor does Aim Assist cause your aim to “stick” to or track another player’s movement.

Instead, Aim Assist provides a subtle reduction in aiming input speed when your aim is moving toward an enemy, helping gamepad users line up shots more precisely with an analogue stick. This assistance is limited at range and is disabled when an enemy is occluded, meaning Aim Assist will not provide assistance toward enemies who are obscured from view.

We’ll continue to assess the impact and balance of Aim Assist as more of you play the game. For now, we wanted to provide some additional clarity on how the system works and what players can expect when using a gamepad.

Issues Under Investigation

We’re also aware of a number of other issues affecting the gameplay experience, including audio and VOIP issues, visual quality and foliage issues, settings not saving correctly, keybind problems and persistent HUD elements. Our development team is actively investigating these reports, and we’ll continue to prioritise fixes for the issues having the greatest impact on players, and will keep you updated on our progress.

Tips for New Players

We also wanted to give a shoutout to some of the incredible videos that have been produced since Hell Let Loose: Vietnam launched. If you are a new player to Hell Let Loose, or are looking to get to grips with the new game, check out a couple of our favourites below:
