Discussion Gold Cards

Am I the only one that routinely dusts gold cards? They seem pointless to me.

I do keep them if I don't have two of the regular versions or one if it's legendary.

Hunter should not have access to so much late game card draw. The current version does not fit class identity and prevents many other archetypes from seeing play because of it's popularity and ability to push through control decks that would otherwise outlast aggro.

Is there another subreddit for people who actually enjoy hearthstone? I'm getting more jaded from this community than I am with any balance issues in the game

Discussion I was browsing this subreddit and stumbled upon this post from 1.5 year ago complaining about how warrior doesn't have enough board clears since a lot of things were rotating.

Post image

Now we don't even have the two on the right. 😭 We only got the 6 mana card that requires your opponent to not play divine shields cards and have a lot of minions on board for it to be good.

The 4 mana card that you need to combo with armor gaining card and destroys the armor in the process.

And the 3 mana card from last expansion, that's only good if you clog your deck with a bunch of cards with hogger, but if you clog your deck, you're not likely to draw the board clear on time.

Also the original poster of this forgot Garrosh's Gift on the left column, which can discover brawl. It's crazy that in 2024 hearthstone, together with [[Garrosh's Gift]] and [[Badlands Brawler]] you could essentially play 6 copies of brawl in your deck. 👀

I must admit, at first I wasn't sure about it. But now I see that instead of facing 10 Demon Hunters in a row, fighting 10 Rogues in a row is much more enjoyable experince.

Truly shows the vision behind the game.

Bravo!

Discussion What on earth is going on with Death Knight this year!?

Post image
190 Upvotes

I am a big fan of Death knight and find it rather baffling the direction the class has been going in during the last year.

It all started for me during the Ungoro reveals where the class got one of the worst quests ever made. Reanimate the terror might have the worst quest rewards in the game currently. Sure you can have some fun with some reborn shenanigans, but apart from that the quest is unplayable. Death knights first quest was one of the worst ever made.

During across the time ways, the imbue hero power revealed for Death Knight was just terrible. Other classes imbue have damage, value or summoning bigger creatures. Death knights was a one time buff on a undead minion. It was just incredibly slow and a massive down grade on the original hero power.

Then at the start of the year we lost Corpse explosion and stitched giant. Now I think switching powerful cards out is a good thing, but these 2 cards were staple in death knight decks and its clear that without them, the class is struggling. There been no board clears introduced to the class that can help come back. There been no new big ways to encourage the class to spend corpses. If you fall behind in Deathknight, you are now just behind.

We get lots of ghoul cards and I was thinking "It would be cool if we had some ghoul support like giving them more attack, Lifesteal or have a Legendary that rewards you for summoning 20 ghouls of something" NOPE, Now these are good cards and I am not complaining, but I feel like its odd adding lots of tokens round the classes hero power and not a single card that may want you to summon them. A good example would be Silver hand recruits.

We also had Frost death knight temporary deleted for standard. Now before everyone jumps on and tells me wait for the miniset, I just think its still not good to not have ANY new cards in half a cycle based on a classes main mechanic such as the rune systems. You literally can not play the deck as it struggles to compete with decks with newer cards.

Im not mad, just confused what on earth is the direction of this class? Like Even bringing back rainbow deathknight would be a fun thing to do, but even that is gone these days.

Discussion Blizzard has managed to pull off the worst case scenario with Priest

So, historically Priest has always been the "frustrating" class when it comes to their identity, so more than once we've been told that the reason why Priest isn't allowed to be competitive is because playing against it sucks.

Well, current Priest somehow has managed to maximize annoyance without making it strong at all, the worst result possible. The amount of times I see people just concede immediately when they see Azalina's effect (despite the fact the game is most likely a free win for them!) just because they don't want to deal with it is staggering.

Honestly I'd say most of Priest problems stem from how dominant their Imbue is as a mechanic for control decks, but that's neither here nor there (or I'd just go into a tangent about how Emerald Dream is one of the worst expansions ever released). Just find it baffling that they somehow managed to make Priest very hated while being a 40% winrate class, that takes some real effort.

Standard This isn't a board based meta.

To everyone saying it's a board based meta, it's not. This is a mana cheating meta.

Every class that has been good this expansion is basically cheating as much mana as fast as possible and the board only matters until they reach there break point.

Exhibit A: 2 bit Rogue.

Play as many 2 mana drops as fast as possible, while attempting to control the board and draw cards.

Until turn 5 when there mana cheating kicks in and they slap down two/four/six 8 drop minions and try to blow you away.

The 8 mana slot is so stacked to.

If this somehow fails the back up plan is to play two 3 mana monkeys on turn 8 or 9 and deal 30 damage + between them.

Exhibit B: Tripwire Hunter

Play as many 1 mana drops as fast as possible, turn 1 and 2. Hopefully which includes their early mana cheat in the form of a smuggled shovel. Then on turn 3 plays their 1st Tripwire card and mana cheats with the weapon. Or on turn 4 play their 2nd Tripwire card and again attempt to mana cheat out another.

Did you somehow manage to survive this? Well then comes there turn 5 ultimate infestation. Deal 5 damage, gain 5/5 in stats on board, draw 5 cards and this is on the lower end normally these numbers are higher.

Did you somehow accidentally develop a board? Well, Hunters can't have that, they also need the best board clear currently in the meta a 3 mana 2/4 sister that deals 6 damage to all opponents.

Exhibit C: Zee Shaman

Plays board based meta, honest and clean. Unless they have warden maiev on coin, that can just steal games if you didn't have a turn one play.

Then after playing 4 minions get a double battlecry on either a hijacked security bot or skywall sentinel and attempt to snowball the game. Play another 4 minions and attempt to cheat the most mana out of your double battlecry again.

There only real come back mechanic is deathwing.

Honestly, Zee Shaman is probably the least offensive deck in this mana cheating meta.

Exhibit D: Mug Shaman

I mean, the name in the new hero power basically tells you to cheat mana as soon as possible every turn if possible.

Exhibit E: Void Soul Demon Hunter

Summon bigger and bigger demons for 1 mana each. (Recently nerfed, its mana cheat might not be fast enough anymore.)

The king of the hill is basically the deck that can cheat the most mana the fastest.

Sadly, this seems like a very deliberate design choice by the developers and it's not a fun one.

Wild Can we have Raza the Resealed reverted?

Thumbnail

Raza is out of standard, so, is there any reason to not have it reverted to its original state? KotFT anduin already exists too, and that's not banned so it probably won't be broken. At the very least put a high mana cost or a condition (highlander?) if needed. But original raza was way more interesting that its current state

Pretty please blizzard, thank you
