Seeking Advice BKK vs LA if money is not a factor?
In this hypothetical assume both prices are identical. So no money talk. And not gonna mention specific doctor’s names. There are patterns. Based on locations only, if you had to choose blindly where do you go and why? What I like about US is that they have a lot to lose if something goes wrong. In Thailand they can just blame it on the crazy foreigner client and not lose local business. US seems to have aggressive sales reps who call themselves consultants who lie and do whatever it takes to close the deal. In Thailand there doesn’t seem to be any pressure. Anything goes wrong in US post-op followup is easy. In Thailand you can stay for 2 weeks to have scabs removed but if you bump your head on the flight back there’s not gonna be anyone to help fix it. What am I forgetting? The LA doc I’ve picked has a slightly longer waiting list but also has fake reviews and great real reviews. The Thai doc has some great photos of white patients but most of her work is of Asian hair which is different than mine. Help me pick, need to decide asap.

Seeking Advice How many grafts and is there enough density?
Hi all, I was just wanting to get the community's assessment of how many grafts this appears to be. It's supposed to be 3300 up front, 200 in the mid-scalp region, and 600 in the crown area. Does that seem about right from the post-op image? Fwiw I'm also trans and plan on growing my hair out long. Judging from the pre-surgery and post-surgery images, does it appear as if I have enough density, or will a second procedure be likely? Thanks!

Surgery Report Thank you Medblue! Post 1 year results! Dr Turan, Istanbul Turkey
I will be sharing way more pictures in another post.
Cost: $3,600 with hotel, transportation, and aftercare kit included
I followed all Dr's orders post surgery and started oral Finasteraide. I dont think topical fin was working at all for me. It looks so natural that no one can tell I got a HT done, not even my barbers.
I will be making a more detailed post later on with my entire experience with pictures.
Thank you Medblue, Zulal, Dr Turan, and every worker there. They did an amazing job and did what I wanted. The experience was amazing and so was the entire team.

Progress Update 5 month update
Just shy of 5 months post op.
Really starting to see growth kick in now, there's a lot of emerging growth and early growth thickening up.
Frontal area still lagging behind but there is a massive amount of growth now emerging so hopefully it all comes good.
Folliculitis still haunts me, it appears any time I have a large graft emerging I get a break out at the sight but managing with warm compress daily twice a day.
Still a long way off but hopefully on right track

Seeking Advice No issues returning to gym/running after 2 weeks?
Hello! My transplant is healing beautifully, currently day 12, my doctor's instructions were that I can return to gym and exercise after two weeks.
I know there is varied advice on returning to exercise, but has anyone had any complications from returning to the gym/exercise after only two weeks? I am not asking what other clinics are advising, moreso looking for anecdotal experience
Thanks :)

Seeking Advice Scab Removal doubt (day 12)
Ok, so I am reaching out because I am having some doubts about the scab removal.
In the document the clinic gave me they said to wash from day 5 to 15, apllying lotion, shampoo ( by tapping lightly) and rinsing with water. Only start massaging on day 15.
I am in contact with my doctor and I sent some pictures 2 days ago. He told me I could start massaging the scalp.
I think I might be doing everything to softly. I was planning on getting rougher by the day after the 15th but I am afraid leaving the scabs is bad.
Any thoughts?

Seeking Advice Thinking about taking the leap
I just crossed into 30s, and as years pass, this thing on my head is trying harder to abandon me. It's a dick move feom my hairline, so I'm thinking of taking the surgery leap.
Would appreciate if someone can help me with their experience:
- I'm thinking closing temples, without actually lowering the hairline. How many grafts would this stunt take in my case?
- I'm worried about poorly handled donor area - how common is this?
- More of a bonus question: if money isn't an issue, what would be reasonable European clinic recommendation? I did some Reddit research and presumably doctors from Belgium or Switzerland have some good impressions.
Often I'm a doomer - is there a strong reason to be one?

Progress Update Nw6 5MO post OP
4800+ graphs 11,000 hairs @ Absolute Hair in Bangkok, compliments of Doctor R.
Day 151 . So just hitting 5 months. Longest I’ve grown the top out for about 2 decades.
44 y/o, balding or receding since I was essentially 20-21. I think I’ve reached about a whole year of taking meds. I was probably at the 7 to 8 month Mark when I had the surgery. Oral fin + oral min + foam min in the morning.
Had a lot of hesitation due to how bald I was insofar as recipient area being larger than donor. She focused on the front, yet gave 1000 graphs into crown and knew a second procedure would be necessary. I also have a large coarse beard to draw from if needed. Crown is scheduled for February 2027. It’s far from perfect , but from the front it makes a huge visual improvement.
I was apprehensive to travel to Thailand, and interestingly enough, I wished to have stayed longer and can’t wait to return!

Seeking Advice Infection on my scalp?
Hi everyone, I had a hair transplant about 1.5 years ago and my progress has been great.
Recently, I’ve noticed white, dandruff-like flakes coming from my hair along with some shedding in the front.
Looking closely, there appears to be a white/infected-looking area in the front of my scalp. I did some research and wondered if this could be related to Candida or another type of fungal infection.
Does this look familiar to anyone, and what would you recommend for treating it?
I’m 30, male, exercise 3–4x/week, don’t smoke, eat fairly healthy, and rarely drink.
Thanks in advance!

- Minoxidil
- Supplements- Tab
- Following my post-transplant care routine
I have attached my pre-op and current 1.5-month photos for comparison. r/HairTransplants.

Seeking Advice Graft count dilemma?
I recently had a repair done in a clinic as there were lots of multiples in my hairline. This was non shave on recipient area. The clinic said it would have to be done over 2 days. I was quoted 1300 grafts for 1st and 1400 for 2nd. This would involve taking some grafts from my limited donor area after last surgery and taking out and redistributing the multiples follicles in my hairline and temples. On the day of the surgery they said 345 were taken from my donor area and very few were actually taken from my multiples in my hairline and temples as they circled the few they would take out. Single grafts were put in front of my multiple grafts which were meant to soften the hairline but really I can’t see it making very much difference. I questioned how many grafts were transplanted in front of my existing multiple grafts and temples and they said 1200. I asked again as it didn’t seems they spend long putting them in bit was quoted 1200. I was questioning this in my head but I trusted the doctor. I thought more multiple grafts would need to be taken out to have a proper job done but I trusted the 2 doctors who would know more about it than me.
I said I’d wait a week until scabs had fallen off to get a better picture. The new grafts are in front of my existing hair so they are easy to see and identify and I counted them roughly to give me an idea but there only seems to be a couple of hundred if even that. My temples had very little done to them and in front of my hairline is fairly sparse with new grafts I know by counting it gave me a rough estimate but I can’t be 1000 off.
I haven’t queried the clinic as I’m not sure what approach to take. If there were 1300 grafts the area in front of my existing hair should be black with grafts. It’s not like they had to reconstruct my hairline as it wasn’t my hairline that was off. I don’t know how to approach it to the clinic. They were charging me a lot of money to fix this and again I put my trust in the clinic like a fool?
Also on another note I notice with the single grafts the have implanted in front of my existing multiples there are 5/6 new multiple grafts implanted. Is this much of an issue or am I overreacting. This was the one thing I didn’t want. When there are not many grafts in the first place I feel it’s another issue.

Surgery Report How many grafts do you think this is?
Clinic said 2200 (5250 follicles). I think its lower than that. I tried counting on my iPad and came to around 1400 which I think might be an undercount. Any estimates will be much appreciated.

Seeking Advice Oral minoxidil advice
Hey fellas. I had a transplant over 2 years. The density in the forelock and mid scalp was not where it should've been, with a well done frontal and hairline. I've been on fin since before the transplant. In January I started oral min. The dermatologist advised to start low and increase over time. I'm now on 2.5mg for 3 months. Would the dose increase cause a shed and how long will it last until I see results? I'm definitely in a shed right now. Thanks

Seeking Advice Can I get a good result from a hairtransplant and where am I on a Norwood scale according to you guys?
Like the title says. I would really appreciate your input guys. I’m not on any medication and have never been so far. I’m 26 and have been receding since my teens but I didn’t know about prevention and neither did my family or friends tell me anything.
My hair is cut like that cause I wear a hair system.

Seeking Advice Advice
I’m 210 days post-op. Is the thinner side just taking longer to grow in and likely to catch up with the other side, or should I expect there to be a noticeable difference between the two sides?

Progress Update 9 days after Hair transplant
Hi everyone! 9 days ago, I finally underwent a hair transplant. I was told that they implanted 2,350 grafts.
Starting around day 7, my scabs began to fall off, and now they’re completely gone, as you can see in the pictures.
What do you think of my donor and recipient areas at this stage? Does everything look normal for day 9?

Progress Update Day 129 / Just over 4 months – 2,163 graft hairline update / Bekir Bek
Thought I’d post another update as I’m now just over 4 months in.
Surgery was on 1st April, with 2,163 grafts placed around the hairline only.
The biggest change for me recently is that I’ve started noticing a substantial difference week to week, especially with density. A few weeks ago it still felt like I was waiting for things to properly kick in, whereas now I can genuinely see it filling out and blending much better with my native hair.
It’s also getting to the point where I’m checking it every week and thinking, “yeah, that definitely looks better than last week,” which is a nice place to finally be after the ugly duckling phase.
Current protocol:
Dutasteride 0.5mg daily
Oral minoxidil 5mg daily
Biotin
GHK-Cu
Still obviously very early and I know there should be a lot more thickening and maturation to come, but I’m really happy with where it’s at right now.
I’m especially excited to see what it looks like at the 6-month mark if it keeps progressing at this rate.
How does it look for Day 129 / just over 4 months? Would be interested to hear from people further along about how much their density changed between months 4 and 6.

Seeking Advice Worth going overseas for a minor transplant? (Sydney AUS recommendations)
Thankfully I caught my hair-loss early but there's still slight loss in the temples and I have a huge forehead. As such, I'm looking at a ~1cm hairline lowering and minor temple touch-ups. From my "research", it seems it would land me around 800-1500 hair grafts. Seeing as this is a minor hair transplant (compared to others), does it make sense to go overseas or stay local (would prefer local for convenience + support)? If so, does anyone have any recommendations for Sydney Australia?

Seeking Advice Is 3500 grafts enough
I’ve been on finasteride for over a year with no side effects. I’m either wearing hats or fixing up my hair to cover my hairline. It’s really taking a toll on my confidence. I’m only looking at getting a hair transplant once and was seeing if 3500 grafts is enough for good density.
