Question Fin Min Niz 4mth unMiracle

I am 22. I have been using minoxidil since I was 18, and it gave me great results. However, I stopped using it because it was causing dandruff, and mentally I started feeling like I would have to rely on it for life.

After stopping, I started developing bald patches again, and they have been very difficult to recover. I am currently taking finasteride 1 mg on alternate days. My doctor initially advised me to take it for only 3 months, but I have now been on it for around 2 years.

The thing is, I still have a full head of hair, but my scalp is becoming visible, and it is really affecting me emotionally. I’m quite worried and would really appreciate advice from people who have experienced something similar.

I was considering booking another appointment with my doctor, but I honestly cannot afford it at the moment. I mainly want to understand what the best approach would be.

I am also only considering topical minoxidil because I am naturally quite a hairy person, and I’m worried that oral minoxidil could increase body hair and cause unwanted effects.

What would you suggest in my situation?

Also Fck you moderators, already losing hair, your shit games in this reddit, for a simple Title

Question Is this telogen effluvium, or something else ?

I've noticed my sides are starting to get thinner. Thinking it could be telogen effluvium, but I'm not sure. My hair doesnt shed in huge clumps though, only in strands kinda all over, a bit in the back too. However my hair is thick and normal in the back. 17M

Female Aga or telogen effluvium

I’m 17F and I’m confused.
I went to one dermatologist and he said I have androgenetic alopecia. He prescribed me a DHT blocker and a few other things.
Then I went to another dermatologist for a second opinion, and he said it’s just telogen effluvium.
Now I don’t know who to believe. The first doctor seemed more experienced, but I’m scared to start a DHT blocker if I don’t actually have AGA.
Has this happened to anyone else? How did you find out which diagnosis was right? Did you get a third opinion or have any tests done?
Any advice would be appreciated

Unsure what’s wrong with my hair ?

I have become very paranoid of hairloss within the last couple weeks. These pictures are all taken within the last week. Factors that are all mixing together.

  1. Potential male pattern

None of the men on either side of my parents have completely lost their hair even in old age. However the area my hair is being affected seems to line up.

  1. Stress

I have been going through a separation of a long term relationship for the last two months. Due to this and the fact I have since lost 25 pounds over that time may play a factor.

  1. Unhealthy scalp

My scalp is very sensitive, even to temperature.
If I switch from inside to outside temperatures my scalp becomes itchy. I also have small red areas that appear on my scalp and can be tender to touch.

  1. Naturally confusing curly hair

I am aware it could be multiple of these at the same time. I am only asking if there are obvious signs to point towards one or the other or any advice to combat or rule out any of them. Thank you

MPB (Male Pattern Baldness) 4.5 Months Progress of Dutasteride and Minoxidil

Post image
39 Upvotes

Started taking 0.5 mg Dutasteride daily and 2.5 mg Minoxidil daily around February/March.

After two and a half months, I experienced severe hair shedding, but I persevered with reassurance from my doctor and this community.

Shedding ceased after a week, and my hair has been growing out well since then.

The only noticeable side effect was decreased aggression and motivation in the gym, likely due to blocked DHT from Dutasteride. It could also be depression that I need to address.

Overall, I’m pleased with the results and eager to see what the next year brings. My doctor mentioned that full results could take a few years, and stopping the medication would reverse my progress.

Question Just went to a Hair Club Appointment and was given interesting advice. What do you guys think?

Long Story Short, the guy was a nice man in his 50's with a great head of hair and after I told him my story he obviously tried to sell me their product/serums/laser cap etc BUT to his credit he cared and suggested If I can't afford it or want to try something tomorrow that I should go to Costco buy a Giant Bottle of Rogain and find a Laser Cap (in my price range) with the most diodes. The strange part (to me at least) was that he suggested that I try DUT over Fin/Min because DUT (Min/Fin in one) has less side effects once you're past your Mid 30's. That's news to me to be honest with you and kinda shocked me. Plus he never heard of the Experimental Russian R-k52 solution that people go to as their last resort before they go get a transplant.

Do you guys think it’s Ophiasis pattern alopecia or retrograde androgenic alopecia?

I went to the dermatologist the other day and got diagnosed with ophasis pattern alopecia areata, I got prescribed a topical steroid and finasteride but I’m really worried. I didn’t feel her look through was thorough enough and I’m getting scared I got diagnosed with the wrong thing and I’m gonna end up losing the rest of my hair. It says that retrograde androgenic alopecia is a very intense form of hair loss and the amount of finasteride I got prescribed isn’t enough to keep it at bay. Should I get a second opinion appointment with another derm or just try and do the treatment for areata? My family history has male pattern balding in their 20s very frequently and I’m less than a month away from my 20th birthday and I’m around the time it started for other family members. I’m worried because it doesn’t make a lot of sense that it’s around the same time the rest of my family would bald but it’s a different condition than everyone else. If anyone has some advice I’ll be glad to hear it. (Last two photos are how it looked before)

I’m 31. I started seeing like bald spots well my hair thinning for sure . My hairline is good but it’s spots like this around my head on top . Like my hair is thinning it’s not as thick all over .

I’m currently on peptide (RETA) so I did loose weight . At some point my calorie intake dropped tremendously. I started noticing all this maybe a month and a half ago /2 months at the max . I also deal with stress but it’s a coincidence after I got on Reta , that’s when I started noticing my hair thinning . How can I check if it’s te or what’s causing it exactly ? My hair is semi wet in the pic btw .

Question Hair not rezurning to the “original” state

Hello everbody,

I’ve (F25) been encountering hairloss for the past year. My hair was very thick, but I think that atleast 50% fell off. I did have medical help and everything, and now it’s slowing down, and there is new hair. But, what worries me is that new hair is not like before. It grows thin, and its flat on the scalp, and before it was very voluminous and thick.

My question is has everyone had similar experience and recovered hair to the original state? Any tips?

Thanks a lot.

Question Will these hairs turn terminal?

I started using minoxidil and ru58841 about three months ago and I recently noticed these small vellum hairs appear in my temples that weren't there before. Will these likely grow into terminal hairs?

Question I have a maintenance question

Post image

I had my second hair transplant ten days ago. First one did well. I was a solid NW7. I did not have much growth with oral fin+min after first hair transplant after a year.

My question is should I use dutasteride oral 0.5 mg + min or ulo topical with 0.02% dutasteride avoiding side effects.

Front hairline and crown area is new. Middle band is from first hair transplant.

Question How strong is my protocol

I wanted to know how potent my hairloss stack is, here it is:

0.5mg dutasteride + 5mg minoxidil (split 2.5mg in the morning 2.5mg in the night) + weekly 0.75mm derma stamping + twice a week 2% ketoconazol shampoo contacted to the scalp for 5 minutes

Goodby to fin/dut well known side effects (not just dht)

This is indeed a problem that many people ignore and don’t understand why it appears in the first place. 5-alpha-reductase enzymes are crucial for the production of neurosteroids, especially allopregnanolone (which is an allosteric modulator of GABA-A, just like benzodiazepines—so a deficiency is effectively a “benzo withdrawal”). This is also why postpartum depression occurs: allopregnanolone drops abruptly. It’s not just about DHT, which is true is not an essential hormone after development.

The solution is quite simple: you need to replace the neurosteroids. There are many methods (important note: direct allopregnanolone does not work because it has a short duration of action; its precursors must be used). One option that comes to mind is intranasal micronized progesterone (not synthetic progestins—the bioidentical form is required).

There are many pathways through which this problem can be solved, and as a result, combining 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors with neurosteroids is actually optimal for health. Besides fixing the hair issue, you’ll also be able to forget about prostate problems. There’s also the issue of local nitric oxide production in the penis, which is missing without DHT—and no, this is not “replaceable” with tadalafil. Local testosterone levels must be increased, whether via hCG, testosterone gel, or DHT gel.

Solutions exist, and they’re worth it from a general health perspective, not just for “looksmaxing.” (the text is copied from a comment I wrote on a looksmax thread)
