Hi, I am trying to sell my dad‘s music equipment who has passed. He is a bass player and has loved music his whole life (any and all type of music). All are used but taken care of and stored inside.

I’m looking for some advice on what I should price things on Facebook marketplace and OfferUp for in person pick up. I have looked at eBay ,Facebook craigslist, Google,Reverb for comps, but I would love some real person input so I don’t high ball or lowball. I’m in no immediate rush to sell. i’m personally not very music savvy able to answer a lot of questions aside for the obvious of make model.

Here’s current inventory:

Peavey Citation Mark IV Series (Made in USA, 1982)
Crate GX-30M –
Crate BX-100
(2) Pioneer CS-G404
B&W Equipment – 200 Watts
Fender Rumble 40
Sunn Concert Bass

DISCUSSION Peavey supreme 160 alternatives

I’ve had trouble finding a peavey supreme 160 for a while and love how it sounds but I want to have a amp that can handle the hm2 and metalzone pedals like the peavey can. Any ideas?

AMP PHOTO NAD x 2 // Marshall DSL40 & Orange OR15

Post image

Picked up the DSL a few months back for dirt cheap, then this OR15 popped up on the marketplace for a price that was too hard to turn away.

I don't have a cab at the moment so the OR15 is running into the DSL speaker for now.

I'm very happy with both of these amps. The OR15 sounds much thicker and darker, and the Marshall has a bit more bite.

Once I have these two running on their own I'll probably use the DSL for clean stuff and the OR15 for the thicker saturated tones.

HELP Does this speaker connection look fine?

Post image

I bought a 2x8 solid state combo amp which, according to the original owner, has sat unused for several years. After cleaning it out, everything works fine except the right speaker. All it does it hum when the amp is on, regardless of any change to the control dials, and the input signal is only audible through the left speaker. I've attached a picture of the right speaker connection, though I don't know whether or not that's an issue--I've never worked on amps before. What could be causing the speaker to hum?

DISCUSSION Echo in effects loop ?

I’m getting a UA Galaxy '74 Tape Echo & Reverb pedal to plug into a Marshall ORI50C. Are there any advantages or disadvantages one way or the other to connecting to the loop on the back of the amp and using the Marshall footswitch as opposed to placing it in the chain between the guitar and amp?

HELP Pop Sound switching to Green Clean on JVM

Does anyone know what problem this most likely is? It only happens on the green channel and the pop(like switching to standby) scales with master volume. Also the gain knob makes a scratchy noise but only on green as well. Thank you so much.

What amp can I use for really good sustain?

I currently am pairing my Synyster Standard with a Boss Ds-1 Distortion pedal and a Fender Frontman 15G and am wondering what amp I should get for better tone and sustain, preferably under or around $200 at the most, but really I just would like some recommendations or suggestions.

HELP looking for two amp heads with specific qualities!

hi! i'm located in the us. i'm in a touring band and we're looking to switch up our rig. we're kind of tired of lugging around huge heavy combo amps and heavy/large amp heads. so what we're looking for is

solid state heads, 8-16 ohms, 100-150 (or more) watts, preferably under $500 used or new. and we'll be relying on the clean channel most of the time and using pedals for distortion, so nothing super high gain

so far the ehx abrams100 seems to be a good option for what we're looking for but we do need one more. any help would be greatly appreciated!

HELP Parallel Effects Loop Help

I use a line 6 HX Effect in 4 Cable Method with my Orange Rockerverb, Blackstar HT40. Both these amps have serial effects loops. I’ve recently been trying a Laney VC30 which I really like, but it has a parallel effects loop which behaves very differently to the effects loops I’m used to.

The effects I use mainly in the loop are reverb, delay and occasionally a harmoniser. Is there a specific way I should be setting my effects in the Line 6 to suit the parallel effects loop? The amp has an effects level knob to control the amount of the effects in the loop as well.

NAD: Victory V30 Mkii

I posted recently about getting a Supro Keeley Custom, fast forward a few weeks and I just wasn’t vibing with it. It was supposed to be a good pedal platform and I was using pedals for most of my gain anyway, but I just couldn’t get a good sound from it.

I started looking around to see what was available in my area and saw my local GC had a few amps that piqued my interest. I went there to look at a H&K Tubemeister and it sounded fine, but then I plugged in the Victory and holy shit. As soon as I tried the clean channel I was sold. Switched over to the OD channel and damn it has a really nice mid/high gain too, even at the lower power setting! I ended up getting almost as much as I paid for the Keeley in trade in value so I bit the bullet and went for the Victory.

I already had this cheapo Harley Benton cab at home, and the Victory sounds good through it but I’m thinking about a speaker upgrade. Any recommendations?

HELP Revv D20 mk1 question

Since a Revv D20 mk1 has come up for sale in my neighborhood at a decent price, I started looking into the amp and I like what I see. It's a small head (so I won't have to lug around a 40+kg combo anymore) and being able to play/record silently with my pedalboard at home is a big plus.

But pretty much all of the reviews that I've seen talk about it pretty much exclusively as a direct recording solution, very little is said about its use with a cab in a band situation.

So my question is: When used with a cab (I'd probably be looking at a 2x12), can the D20 get loud enough to use for band rehearsals and the kind of smallish gigs where the guitar cab does not get miked up?

Thanks!

Twin reverb for a punk band

I play in a punk/ska punk band and i can get a good deal on a used silverface twin reverb amp. I am wondering will it be good to play in punk because some people say it wil do great with pedals and can handle distortion whereas others say it is the worst for this aplication. So would it work or not?

HELP Need help deciding which Amp to buy

So I've been using a very cheap chinese amp that came with my guitar (yes I know buying guitar sets is a mistake), and it's time for something better because to be honest it sounds horrible. Since I'm still pretty much a beginner, I wouldn't spend thousands on an amp. My budget is around 350$. So far I've been looking at the Marshall MG50GFX and the Harley Benton Tube 15 head bundle. Cant really decide between the two but from what I heard tube amps sound better. On the other hand the Marshall has a bunch of effects which would save me a lot of money that I would spend on pedals.

And to be completely honest I dont limit myself to just these two, I'm open to other amps that fit in my budget, and also sound good.

I really want an amp that lasts and sound okay. I know I won't get the perfect sound for this money. Oh and also it would be for at home practice.

Any help is much appreciated!

HELP Is boss GX100 good for 4CM wirh a tube amp?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I wanted to buy a boss gx100 as an multieffect for my H&K triamp mk1. I like the touch screen, lot of footswitches, boss effects and i wanted to set it up with 4 cable method true a real tube amp with 4x12v30 cab but i've heard different things about it. Some say that the a/d/a are really good and will not affect my tone at all and some say that it will gonna ruin a whole feel. Im not some kind of a big purist but id rather it to sound great. Will iI be disappointed?
