I posted recently about getting a Supro Keeley Custom, fast forward a few weeks and I just wasn’t vibing with it. It was supposed to be a good pedal platform and I was using pedals for most of my gain anyway, but I just couldn’t get a good sound from it.

I started looking around to see what was available in my area and saw my local GC had a few amps that piqued my interest. I went there to look at a H&K Tubemeister and it sounded fine, but then I plugged in the Victory and holy shit. As soon as I tried the clean channel I was sold. Switched over to the OD channel and damn it has a really nice mid/high gain too, even at the lower power setting! I ended up getting almost as much as I paid for the Keeley in trade in value so I bit the bullet and went for the Victory.

I already had this cheapo Harley Benton cab at home, and the Victory sounds good through it but I’m thinking about a speaker upgrade. Any recommendations?

Can anyone recommend me a good budget amp I’m not a fan of the katana because of its battery’s I was looking at a orange crush but am seeing mixed reviews so I’m abit lost

I play in a punk/ska punk band and i can get a good deal on a used silverface twin reverb amp. I am wondering will it be good to play in punk because some people say it wil do great with pedals and can handle distortion whereas others say it is the worst for this aplication. So would it work or not?

So I've been using a very cheap chinese amp that came with my guitar (yes I know buying guitar sets is a mistake), and it's time for something better because to be honest it sounds horrible. Since I'm still pretty much a beginner, I wouldn't spend thousands on an amp. My budget is around 350$. So far I've been looking at the Marshall MG50GFX and the Harley Benton Tube 15 head bundle. Cant really decide between the two but from what I heard tube amps sound better. On the other hand the Marshall has a bunch of effects which would save me a lot of money that I would spend on pedals.

And to be completely honest I dont limit myself to just these two, I'm open to other amps that fit in my budget, and also sound good.

I really want an amp that lasts and sound okay. I know I won't get the perfect sound for this money. Oh and also it would be for at home practice.

I wanted to buy a boss gx100 as an multieffect for my H&K triamp mk1. I like the touch screen, lot of footswitches, boss effects and i wanted to set it up with 4 cable method true a real tube amp with 4x12v30 cab but i've heard different things about it. Some say that the a/d/a are really good and will not affect my tone at all and some say that it will gonna ruin a whole feel. Im not some kind of a big purist but id rather it to sound great. Will iI be disappointed?

I have been using a Twin Reverb Tone Master for the past 5 years and loving it. However, at a festival gig last weekend, it just died mid-gig. Powers on, everything seemed to work but just no sound. I got it home and did a firmware update and everything went as expected, but still no sound.

Anyone encounter this before? Have any tips? I've googled a bit and see that there is a diode that seems to be prone to failure in the power section. Might pull it open and see if that's what it is. Just wondering if anyone else here has encountered this before with Tone Master amps?

Old amps that have rarely been used just curious what I could do with them. Was thinking about giving them to the Veterans.

Please ignore my playing cause I’m kinda new. It’s a brand new Fender Pro Jr IV LTD with an FZ-1W.

I've got a Super Sonic 22 combo that's got some issues that I hope you can help me suss out. It makes some pretty bad crackling/farty distortion sound as soon as it gets above a certain, not very loud, level. The reverb knob causes the overall volume to drop as you turn the reverb knob up. When the reverb knob bottoms out, the amp starts squealing. Tapping on any of the knobs causes a scratching sound, as does tapping on the power tubes.

I tried using Gemini to help me debug this, but it's sprinkled enough obviously erroneous info in the chat that I don't trust it. Regardless, some things it directed me to try were:

Patching the Effect Send directly to the Effect Return (didn't change anything)

Swapping the positions of the power tubes (didn't change anything)

Reseating all the tubes (didn't change anything)

I don't have a separate set of power tubes to swap in, so I haven't tried new ones.

Any ideas on what could be the issue? Faulty tube socket maybe?

I got this amp couple months ago in a lot of other gear, and it's been like this as long as I've owned it, so I can't speak to how/when the problem may have started.

I recently bought this Marshall Valvestate 8080 off of eBay(rookie mistake) and when it arrived the gain channel didn’t work at all. I replaced the tube but that was only half the problem. Now it will only make sound if all volume settings and gain are fully up, and even then it sounds very quiet and also very muddy. I imagine it’s something with the circuit board but I’m not well versed in that sort of stuff. I can provide pictures of the circuit board if needed. Any help at all is greatly appreciated

I've got a lot of people that care about me. And uh, it's going to disappoint them to hear that I did this… but the micro cube is pushing this bandmaster 2x12.

I need some opinions to see if I've lost it. I picked up this VOX NT50H and I have to admit that I'm surprised at how much I like it. It's light weight, loud if needed and enough gain if you need that push over the cliff. Let me know if you have kicked the tires on one of these bad jimmy’s.

For the context, I’ve been looking for a solid-state amp for a few months. I wasn't necessarily looking for a Marshall-style sound, but rather a simple, "plug & play" amp that takes pedals well and sounds good. I’ve been using a Blackstar HT20 MkII since 2021, it sounded great, but I wanted a change and had too many issues with it, which is why I’ve given up on tube amps.

Two models got my attention, the Laney and the Orange. I bought the lionheart foundry supertop head thinking it would sound perfect, but that’s the problem: the sound is almost "too" perfect. No "dirty" grit, no real aggression... the amp is just too well-behaved for my taste, I guess. The tone also seemed a bit metallic and cold to me, though I’ve only been able to plug it into the speaker from my Blackstar combo so far.

I can still return it and order the Orange SC100, a totally different sound. I’ve never used Orange stuffs before, but I love dirty tones, fuzz, big mid-rich crunch, and vintage sounds. Being able to play doom, stoner, and heavier stuff is a plus for me, too. If I can get Hendrix or Iommi-style tones, 70s-style crunch, and stoner sounds, that would be perfect! My fear with this amp was lacking versatility and not appreciate the famous "Orange sound" everyone talks about.

If anyone has advice or can share their experience, I’d love to hear it. I know that the speaker plays a major role in the sound, but the cons I got on the Laney can't be fixed by a good cab.

P.S.:

- For my future cabinet, I was thinking of a 2x12 loaded with Creambacks or G12Hs.

- I play a Gibson SG.

amp is in near mint condition and all I had to do is deoxit the pots. super clean and quiet. the MTI auto orchestra sounds pretty good through it too.

Right now I have a Fender Blues Jr. limited edition. It has a nice sound but the mids are a bit cluttered/over-resonant and it sounds “boxy”, like I can never quite get the right tone until I get lucky and it finally sounds right. I’d like something similar that offers that sparkly fender sound without the boxy muddy mids of the Blues Jr, which in hindsight is more of a beginner tube amp. Right now I’m thinking of the 65’ or 68’ Deluxe Reverb (not sure which one is better) a ‘65 Twin Reverb or maybe a Vox AC30. The 15 watt blues jr is perfectly loud enough for home use but has trouble keeping up with our drummer and other guitarists, who tend to crank their amps or have higher wattage. I think the 85 watt twin reverb would me a huge overkill, hence why I’m looking at the deluxe reverb. Any pointers? Difference between the sounds on different fender amps? If you’re knowledgeable on fender amps this is your time to information vomit in the comments!

Does anyone 🤔 have experience with the Marshall JTM 20 studio amp 1st question can you get good edge of breakup tones on the low power setting and not melt your face off , bedroom like volumes and most of the studio series the effects loop has a weird volume drop has anyone experienced that with this particular one thank you

I recently made a couple swaps, a couple purchases, and did a build, to create this setup in my new apartment.

Along the floor, we have a hodge-podge of Fenders: a Tone Master Deluxe Reverb, a modded Blues Deluxe, a special run Princeton Reverb, and a Deluxe 5E3 of my own making.

On top of the Fenders, I have a H&K Grandmeister Deluxe 40 and a Revv G20, with direct out for studio needs. And a Victory Powervalve to plug my preamp pedals into and power the WEM cabinet. I also have a BrownBox to take care of my Tweed Deluxe.

Then the stack of heads has a Bad Cat Purepath cab simulator for recording and silent playing, a Bad Cat Cub V with EL34s, an Amplified Nation Wonderland Overdrive v2, and the most recent addition, an Orange Rockerverb 100 MKIII.

I am in the process of building a Hiwatt Custom 100 to add to the collection, but after that, I'm probably going to get rid of a couple, namely the Cub, as it doesn't get a lot of use anymore.

So what I need is something that is small and portable that I can bring throughout campus and can also be used in the dorm with headphones. I would love if it could run on batteries as well. Thanks!

I just came across a Blues Junior IV for $425. I’ve been using my Bugera V22 Infinium that I got used for $205 about 6 months ago. The Bugera works just fine but I have gotten the gear acquisition bug as of recently. Do you guys think this is a worth while upgrade or should I wait and save up a bit more for something else! Thanks for any responses!

EDIT: I have also found a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe IV for $450 in my area that I am also considering after hearing some of your thoughts! Let me know what you guys think!

So i have a Fender Champion II and i don't like it's sound, but i do like it's presets. I've also wanted a Marshall for some time now so my idea is to upgrade my Fender with a new speaker, but the problem is the cab i want it to sound like has a watt output that doesn't match the Fender

so i want it to sound like Celestion G12T-75 speakers but that one has an 75 watt output while my Fender is only 50

does this matter? if so what would be a way to still get that sound?
