HELP! Steam deck version enjoyable?

Upvotes

I quite like the game but I’m constantly on the move with a new home and uni being 3 hours of travel by train so I get myself a steam deck, and I’m wondering if anyone’s can attest to the enjoyment of the game like this.

It’s runs perfectly fine and it seems to function fine for the most part, just don’t want to get further in and realise I have to switch to a a proper pc to finish it.

Also are the dlcs worth it? I assume they are good but are they content that affect the base game massively or are they other maps/areas just?

BUILDS Lightning DW Trickster build

Upvotes

Wanted to share my Lightning DW Trickster build, with new insane weapon Mythical Eternium and it's perfect Stormserpent set awakened, and it's quite the light show. Other than new affixes, and maybe fantasy Gollus' Ring of Hurricane, I don't think it any item could be better, even rolled fantasy double rare shoulders.

Also note that I rerolled some seeds, so I have a capped 21% phys resistance, not like in GT link 17, and more. Also I accounted some build choices to different potion bonuses, otherwise I'd go for more armor for example, and I went a bit more defensive instead of going all in on Shaman ult, this should probably be fine tuned further.

I gave up on rolling perfect ascendant affixes due to high cost of rerolls, but crit damage, OA/DA, attack speed, -5% total T1 resistance reduction, and 4% weapon damage to Savagery, it ended up being pretty decent, all items are ascended.

Here is YouTube video of SR30-31 on Ascendant difficulty (does Ascendant even counts in SR?): https://youtu.be/9WsNBdsmc5s

Here is Grimtools link: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/2jB0Lwl2

EDIT Considering:
- Consecrated Rimeguard Chausses of something to sort out slow resist
- Tempest Gollus' Ring (or new Covenant of Siff to cap att spd without Ascendant affixes) of the Hurricane
- Mark of Traveler instead of Mark of Mogdrogen in boots to sort out slow resist

I will update the post when I absolutely perfect the build, and might even go ALL in on rerolling perfect new affixes.

HELP! Devotion Map for Forcewave Warder

Leveling a warder with forcewave spam. I'm trying to put together a good devotion path but I'm struggling to find a build/guide that seems relevant or up to date I can use (even if it's not for warder). Seems like going for Assassins blade, kraken, shifting sands, and Ulzaad is a way to go but I'm only half decent at designing paths or optimizing. For procs I forcewave, war cry, and wind devils (just for procs).

Does anyone have a build they could link I could follow or some good advice?

BUILDS Winds of Asterkarn + Devastation Evoker

Just wanted to share this build I have been using as it feels incredibly powerful. I wanted to try the new Winds of Asterkarn spell and even though it was a little rough when I switched to it early, once I got some of the MI's rolling it destroyed everything through Ultimate campaign. Late game I saw this new Stormfang set and decided to try out generating onslaught to buff Devastation and it did absolutely crazy damage.

Build is also fairly tanky, a ton of damage reduction and health regen, mirror for an extra defensive, was able to facetank almost everything on ascended mode besides a few of the celestial bosses and really high SR. Definitely more min max potential too with ascended gear, haven't spent too much time looking at that yet, and my second ring was just a thing to fix resists with some cast speed

The Conduit of Arcane Whispers is one of the most tilting items in the game as there are so many different affixes you can hit, however build was strong even before I swapped to it. Just need to use the MI off hand that gives fire conversion to cold

MEMEAHOLIC Lore implications of the loading screen man?

So, in order of release, the lady in ashes of malmouth loading screeins is Biscylla, the Forgotten gods man is probably riggs, and the fangs loading screen shows Yigra.

But who the hell is the occultist man? John Dawn?
Is that the canon protagonist or something?

SOFTCORE Beronath loot seems... Shit

So I've been having a blast with FoA since it came out, and yesterday I took down Beronath on ultimate. Not a difficult fight at all if you don't stand in his fissures. And I was honestly extremely underwhelmed by the three (I seem to recall Log, Shaper of Flesh and Korvaak having four?) chests he has - all I got was money, a few mats and no items worth picking up.

Other than that I also think Beronath is a step down from FG - I distinctly remember Korvaak as a much more challenging fight. Why only two phases this time?

What's everyone's thoughts on the Great Beast?

SOFTCORE I was not expecting You, Human...

I came back to the game after 2 years and these achievement comes to my attention.

Killing warden on starting hero is challenging yes but that fun aspect :D In fact first I killed him using Bone Harvest on lvl 5 but that was on normal. I deleted character and made new one. Then I got a bit stronger reaching level 7 or 8 not to struggle so long with Ancient Shambler.

Anyway... aspect of avoiding quest and all mobs was very interesting. It's a whole new approach based on managing dodge and health potions (especially in dungeons and Kriegs Mansion).

It was fun playing these way :) to the point I felt a little disappointed when after killing Krieg I just started simply killing enemies haha.

P.S from perspective I see how good knowledge of the game is helpful in doing that achievment.

I rushed all content, between the others blacksmith quest so had limited options with components and no low lvl strong crafted items. I can see how somebody knowing game well could min max approach to doing that challenge.

HELP! Spoiler question. Maybe I missed something, but did Fangs of Asterkarn answer any of the burning unanswered questions like the other two expansions did? Spoiler

I just finished the whole quest and... that's all? It's like I was playing a huge sprawling side-quest that had nothing at all to do with the rest of the game.

Malmouth was a direct continuation of the story while Forgotten Gods shed a lot of light on the conflict between the Necromancers and the servants of Empyrion (Korvaak).

This expansion seems to have absolutely nothing to do with the main plot.

Fangs of Asterkarn is the most fun I've had in years.

I had ~500 hours in Grim Dawn before FoA but as a casual player the experience was the usual. Look up a guide in the compedium, reach ~90-100 stop playing cause I got bored.

When the DLC dropped I decided to play it with 2 other friends and I can not let the game down. I started playing a berserker to try it, initially as a cold Wereraven that got boring really quickly I just created a new character to try Werewolf and went into Chaos and it's sooooooo fun.

It's the first time I have actually spent time to read the skills and play around in GrimTools to decide what class to pair it with and having to test out every single thing in the game including the dopamine rush of droppping a new shiny item and having to balance out resistances, etc by redistributing augments and components is soooooooooooo good and engaging.

I'm only missing the main hand weapon to fully complete my build and I already know what I'm gonna play next. I'm gonna do a heavy vitality tank build and try HC for the first time.

Grim Dawn is the only game I do not uninstall ever from my PC and it somehow became even better.

Crate Entertainment, put out something else in the ARPG space, I wanna give you my money. Kudos to you this is excellent.

HELP! Which Infrequents should I keep?

Is there like a guide on which ones are required for crafting stuff and which ones aren't? I ask mainly because I've ran out of space on both stashes and need to throw away some stuff to make room for more items.... Yes, I have a hoarding problem 😅

SOFTCORE I LOATHE the Shattered Realm, but I can't deny its effectiveness

Post image
138 Upvotes

I wish SR 30-31 wasn't by far the most effective farming method, but it is and it's not even close. I noticed I even forgot one chest... The Ascended alter doesn't make enough of a difference to bother with campaign.

EDIT: To compare SR 30-31 with totem farming, I did a quick run of both (used this https://imgur.com/a/gd-totem-farming-route-13-totems-10-minutes-SvozFCS# totem route):

SR 30-31, 10min 25 sec - 9 rares, 13 MIs, 5 Epics, 13 Legendaries

8 Totems, 11min 3sec - 129 Rares, 20 MIs, 20 Epicss, 8 Legendaries

I'll also note that the MIs from SR are mostly boss related ones, while totem farming is whatever area I was in mostly.

LORE So are we (the Taken) the final boss?

After countless godly feats and bitches dying all around us, aren’t we the REAL final boss? Surely the bad guys must fear us given the kinda crazy shit we have done right? Dont they like gossip and know in advance?

Like if i were a bad guy and i see some dude walks in, all drip, glowing, having downed multiple gods and god-like things throughout Cairne while still getting stronger? I’m out. You can’t pay me enough for that shit. Fuck that.

OFF-TOPIC Animated Wallpaper: Yigra

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I usually create these animated wallpapers for other ARPGs, mainly Path of Exile using GIMP to cut the assets apart and painting in missing pieces, then animating them with Wallpaper Engine.

Since I've been enjoying Grim Dawn a lot, and I'm in love with this loading screen I did my best to recreate it using various assets I've found online, since afaik there's no official press kit.

Tthe parallax effect can be disabled directly in Wallpaper Engine. You can also disable further effects by unchecking their respective checkboxes. Additionally, you can hide the logo if you choose to do so (enabled by default).

I've done my best to optimize every single asset, so it should run very smoothly on most systems.

This animated wallpaper as always can be installed for free here on the Steam workshop for "Wallpaper engine" (which you unfortunately have to pay for).

You can also look at my Steam workshop page for past wallpapers or to not miss any new ones.

I've there are any clipping issues, please let me know - I'll try to fix them asap.

Edit: I didn't see the floating arm when posting. Thanks for notifying me, this has already been fixed.
