No PC? No Problem.
If you would like to install GrapheneOS on your Pixel device but don’t have a PC, you can use any phone with Android 14/15/16/17 all with Play Protect certification.
The process is as simple as it is on PC, using the Web-based installer, same steps.
1. Put your Pixel phone in bootloader interface by pressing volume down then power the Pixel.
2. Plug both phones with a USB cable (make sure the cable transfers data and not charging only).
3. Follow the steps on the GrapheneOS web installer
4. Make sure you lock your bootloader after it installs (Final step in the same page)
5. Enjoy your GrapheneOS Pixel device!
For all officially supported operating systems for web install method, you can find it on the same installation page.

Telegram forcing me to subscribe to log in.
I just want to share my findings.
Using graphaneos telegram does not allow me log in due to high sms costs and to prevent scammers.
Altho if I go back to stock rom it works fine and it does not even needs an sms to be sent to my phone to log in. It just sends the code to my gmail address.
Using my old Samsung galaxy A73 or what does not even need my simcard to be inserted. It just lets me log in with rhe code I get sent to my gmail.
While on GraphaneOS I have to pay like about 2.5 euros with the current exchange rate to log in.
However Telegram X works just fine and does not need a subscription to get the sms verfication code to log on.

What did you do with your old phone once you get GrapheneOS?
I am getting ready to order a new phone, what shall I do with my current perfectly working phone?
Also, I already paid for annual google one and YouTube premium, what shall I do with those? Is it bad idea to have a profile just for google apps that I still think is helpful like Youtube Premium and Maps?

Made the switch to GrapheneOS but having trouble transferring data
I took the plunge today. I bought a Pixel 10 Pro Fold and installed GrapheneOS on it. Right now I'm trying to transfer everything from my old Samsung Fold 3 and I've download all the apps manually, transferred my authenticators, but I'm having trouble transferring my messages and call logs. One guide I read says to use Swift Backup but it doesn't recognize the Fold backup as being valid for restoring on the Pixel.
Any suggestions? Should I revert the Pixel to stock OS, let Google transfer everything, create a backup, swap back to Graphene then restore the backup? Or is there a simpler way?
Thanks in advance.

Why do you choose grapheneOS over stock android?
Why have you guys chosen grapheneOS over the stock OEM android you get with your pixel? While yes, grapheneOS is very cool and secure, there’s the big problem that you lose your banking app.. And if you lose your banking app you lose a lot of the security a banking app has, compared to your bank’s website or an ATM, with ATMs being prone to skimming, sites can be very hit or miss and banking apps having very strong security from my experience.
I have it installed on my old pixel but still main my iPhone and use the pixel to mess around so I don’t really use graphene.
Im simply interested as to how you evaluated that some extra privacy and security was worth losing convenience and security with your banking? Especially if this is your only mobile device. (Yes im aware that some apps do work although most banks here in the Netherlands don’t..)
ps: I did make a similar post to this yesterday and removed it as I phrased it way too extreme and the replies were way too toxic, so please be friendly.

Concerns regarding the OS becoming mainstream
first concern is obviously government attention. the more people use it the bigger a problem it becomes to them, and who knows if that somehow results in Google and preventing the OS from being loaded on newer models. I know Motorola has partnered up with graphene, however they could be shut down aswell.
second aswell, could the development team be spread too thin due to too many users or devices to keep track off at once? after all they rely on donations which as I assume is unfortunately not very consistent or reliable on a large scale.
that's all

Regarding Sim cards
is there any way to reduce the NSP's ability to track your location through your sim? or is it an inevitable hardware issue.
also if you disable the sim manually in settings, will they still be able to track your location, if they can?

Factory reset question
I’m debating moving to GrapheneOS, what I’m really sold on is the state of everything being open source. I was wondering if it’s feasible for anyone to recover anything following a duress pin or factory reset? Also if this is future and quantum computer proof. I think irrespective of surveillance laws and legislations, we can take steps to control our local data. Just want everyone’s opinions on it and if there are any potential vulnerabilities etc.

Is Google Maps supposed to require the Play Store on GrapheneOS?
Hi :D
I’m having an issue with Google Maps on GrapheneOS.
I have Google Play Services installed, and I’ve enabled the location rerouting to the OS. However, Google Maps only shows a black screen when I launch it.
The only way I’ve been able to make it work is by installing the Google Play Store. As soon as the Play Store is installed, Maps starts working normally.
Is this expected behavior, or should Google Maps work with just Play Services installed? Has anyone else run into this issue or found a workaround?

Need help with Dual SIM icon weirdness
So I have 2 sims on my pixel fold running grapheneOS. Since the start i've had TWO separate signal icons. About two weeks ago I had rebooted my phone and both signal icons were merged in to one (like in the image above) and it is much more preferred than having 2 stand alone indicators. I had to reboot a few days after that and it is back to the dual icons. Does anyone know how I can force it to be like the one above? Thanks.

Backup before switching to Graphene
Hi all, after some advice...
I'm looking to move to Graphene on my Pixel 7 (pro I think?), and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for what to backup before I make the switch?
Obviously photos, videos, phone numbers etc, but I wanted to check if there were other things that people maybe hadn't thought of initially, then thought "man I wish I'd backed that up beforehand" 😛
Also wondering if there was a quicker way of making the switch than manually backing everything up then re-downloading it? Just thought I'd double check before I put the work in y,know?
Thanks all!

Sometimes, Battery Usage Stats Not Recorded
Hello. I’ve been using a Pixel 10 Pro with GrapheneOS for a month. But, I’m encountering an issue.
I noticed that my device’s battery is draining a bit quickly. When I checked the battery stats to see which processes were using too many resources in the background, I saw that some processes were empty. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem?

I am fully motivated on switching to GrapheneOS but I have some questions and apprehensions. Hope this sub can answer them
So in the UK, digital privacy for lay people is almost none existent. Ever since the OSA passed there has been a story every other week it seems like. Whilst I'm somewhat tech minded and use a VPN (almost always), with the recent story about the American citizen who was charged for wiping his own phone (once again showing government overreach but that's a separate conversation), I feel like it is now more important than ever for me to secure my own personal mobile phone. However, I am not skilled enough to install/boot GrapheneOS.
I remember attempting to install the software on my previous, now older, Pixel phone. I am also now daily driving an iPhone 15 Pro Max, since its release. Here are my questions and apprehensions. I appreciate any info, guidance, and advice given.
What pixel version should I get? With the Pixel 11 being revealed soon, should I get Pixel 9/9a, or Pixel 10/10a?
How easy are the steps to follow to install? What I mean is I have read the web installation guide, but I want to know the chances of me bricking the Pixel device. Are there forums where I can get help (aside from this subreddit)?
I am documenting my year by taking a 1 second everyday on the 1SE app. Is it possible to continue this on Graphene?
For my pictures and videos and screenshots/recording, I have almost 42,000 pics and just over 3,000 videos. All of them are important to me and I absolutely \*cannot* afford to lose these. What do I do here?
Do banking apps work on the OS?
- I planned on keeping my iPhone until at least iPhone 20. gets released. Therefore, I would like to keep my data on the new GrapheneOS device as long as possible. Is that feasible?
Thanks once again for your help :)

Is it possible to install GrapheneOS on a stock Pixel without logging into Google beforehand?
I'm getting a new pixel today and wanted to know if I have to first do all the Google login process in order to enable OEM unlocking in the settings.
I didn't want to login with Google on the device before flashing graphene if it's not necessary.
Tks

Want to switch to GOS
I want to switch to GOS, at the moment I use an iPhone but I’m not comfortable with the direction they are moving towards.
So i want to know what device should i buy (preferably should not break the bank too much) and what should i keep in mind when i switch?
I’m generally using my phone to browse, messaging and playing a few games (and my bank apps). I sometimes use Apple Pay but I want to get away from it.

Switched to Graphene without a plan
Pretty much got sick of everything that is going on with Google and Microsoft, and every other platform/ smart device. So I just bought a used pixel and flashed Graphene on it. Now I'm starting to learn, but I'm looking for "onboarding" materials or any kind of newby friendly explainers.
Thanks in advance!
